I love how Veronaville is such a giant Shakespearean blender - with nods to Lear, Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing and more. And not just the names - plot details from various plays have been given nods and/or twists. I always cringe when I think about the twins, Benedict and Beatrice, since they’re one of Shakespeare’s most charismatic couples, imo.
It’s been so long since I played the Sims 2 but man do I miss the story lines! I hope that maybe when they come out with Sims 5 (whenever that will be lol) they give us the option to play with or without story lines. Like maybe they could have 2 separate save files pre-programmed where we can choose 🤷♀️🤞 just an idea!
i've been playing veronaville a LOT recently! I didn't realise that regan+cornwall and goneril+albany had pretty rocky relationships or i would've made them break up. the feud didn't really "end" per se, it just fizzled out once consort, patrizio, and isabella all died. Tybalt married Mercutio. hehe
Veronaville was my first hood I ever played. As a kid I was obsessed with Capp manor and its garden, Hermia was my favorite sim, and thanks to this game I love Shakespeare plays.
The first neighborhood I ever played at when I got The Sims 2 was Verona Ville. I loved it because of the Romeo and Juliet references, but I hated sim Romeo! I always played with my own sims, so I made a family and got one of the twins they had marry Juliet. I loved that couple so much, I even played with Juliet household to make her grow into an adult and marry my sim. Then moved them to their own house and played a lot with them.
In the Hungarian version they just change Capp and Monty into Capulet and Montague... I was 9 when I played the Sims 2 it took me 14 years to realise the connection to Romeo and Juliet
My take on Veronaville is merged with both Strangetown and Pleasentview (clean templates and subhoods), so don't be surprised if I mention some names here: Capp branch 1: Consort eventually manages to smooth things over with Isabella when Patrizo passed on of old age. They are friends because in their words "getting together when our grandkids are falling in love would be weird". Consort also reached Business Tycoon status before he retired. Juliette and Hermia get together with Romeo and Puck respectively. Juliette takes on the business career and runs a flower arranging business on her days off, while Hermia is also in the business career and runs a toy shop. Tybalt ends up with a CAS Viola Monty (I used Sim Blender to connect her to the Monty clan), but he didn't know she was related to them at first. By the time he found out, he realised the feud was hurting others and he works in the music career. Capp Branch 2: Goneril and Albany's marriage is on the rocks. Goneril takes on the Business Career and started as level six, quickly working her way up. Albany is a stay at home dad, and his relationship with Miranda and Desdemona is strained, though Hal and Ariel's relationships are a bit better. Miranda's aspiration changed to Pleasure and she ended up with Mercutio. Miranda ended up in the dance career - "business career, not me," in her words. Desdemona - also pleasure aspiration when she became a teen, - ended up with Benedict and she also ended up in the dance career too. Hal, a Knowledge aspiration - ended up with Bottom - renamed India - and he works in the medical career in his teens. Ariel Capp - a fortune sim - is dating Beau Broke, who is part of the Monty Clan. She's in the business career. Capp Branch 3: Regan is in the business career - she started as level 5 - as is Cornwall - he started level 1, heh - and they had their first and only child, Rosaline - they aren't interested in a ton of kids. Kent is in the science career in level 6. Regan was confused about his career choice, but didn't question it. Kent also ended up with Bianca Monty and they have twins, Angelica and Benvolio. Monty Branch 1: Patrizo died shortly into the game and Isabella made things right with Consort. Mercutio remanded in the culinary career and ended up with Miranda. Romeo - changed to a pleasure sim - ended up with Juliette and remained in the culinary career, though they run a flower shop on the side. Viola Monty is a sim I made in CAS when I found out she was originally going to be in the neighbourhood and she begins dating Tybalt in university. She gets him to see the feud was hurting others and manages to get him to break it for good. The two are married and work in the music career. Monty Branch 2: Antonio runs a cafe on the side of his culinary career and has ended up with Brandi Broke. Dustin is actually a good older brother to his biological and step-siblings. Beatrice - a popularity sim and in the culinary career - ends up dating another adopted kid into the Summerdreams house, Orlando - one of the male townie children, I used a mod to make it happen. Benedict - a knowledge sim and also in the culinary career - ends up dating Desdemona. Beau Broke, a family sim, is dating Ariel Capp and is in the music career. Monty Branch 3: Bianca Monty started as a prep cook in the culinary career and got together with Kent Capp, having twins Angelica and Benvolio. She also helps out at Antonio's cafe. Summerdream: Oberon and Titania get remarried and adopt Orlando Butler into their family. Puck ends up with Hermia and remains in the slacker career. He helps Hermia making toys in the toy shop on their days off. Bottom - renamed India - has the Popularity aspiration and is dating Hal, also in the slacker career. Orlando is dating Beatrice and is in the slacker career too.
Have you played the Sims Life Stories? A couple cool stories to play through. They get quite crazy but always a good time. I’d love to see you do a playthrough of the game if you haven’t already
Getting Mercutio and Tybalt to happily marry is my only goal everytime, Tybalt was such a tragic teenager when I started playing, he smashed both(?) of his parents urns in the ground in a fit as soon as I started playing because his aspiration bar was miserable, I decided right then and there to make him the happiest sim I've ever played
You can’t lie sims 4 has better graphics but you get use to sims 2 and I don’t have it I guess it’s because the game looks and feels a bit old by the graphics but it does have a better gameplay
