Tbh I always wanted to try out one of those ''video essay'' type of videos and even though I really enjoyed talking and revisiting some moments of Jn and Koharu/Chloe, I gotta say that I'M TIRED! xD But still enjoy the video! The absolute most disrespectful thing they did to Chloe was to conclude her "story" by having her start working for her dad, the EXACT thing she didn't want to do this whole time

Flanderization is a horrible thing to witness in good characters. Like, watching a multi-faceted person lose all but one of their facets is just... sad.

Chloe is a clear product of the atrocious lack of proper storytelling snd writing throughout Pokémon Journeys

That fact that not only did she get an eevee that ash will never have, but it just stay unevolved like Lana Plus any "chloe" episode was just to showcase the same eeveelution we seen many times before, we didn't even get an new evolution for eevee And why did we not only see better girls than chloe in those said episodes, like the glaceon girl but Haruhi WHO JUST KLOE BUT BETTER!?

The writers of horizons, seem to be directly addressing the criticisms of journeys. It seems that every episode, we get something new from each character, even if the episode isn't about them. The only character that didn't get some development, is Landau. I'm hoping he gets more development as the series goes on. At least there are us who like chole's character. And a certain website that well not be named here.

I don' understand why they just didn't make her Eevee the Special Eevee from Let's Go who was capable of learning moves based on each of it's Evolutions, that would've at least seperated her Eevee from the past ones that Gary, May, Serena, and Lana got

I knew you were gonna say that the reason the trope of the “female character focused” episodes didn’t have much issues before till it happened with Chloe was because they still appeared and had some relevance to the story, even if they didn’t have the episodes focused on them. That’s why stories like those of the past seasons before Journeys worked in terms of the characters. While yes I know that some people had issues when it came to Lilly get a lot of love over the others, that was only because they had tons of characters to work with in Sun and Moon. But Journeys only had 3 primary characters when they started out. But the fact they sidelined Chloe that badly for her to not even appear till she had episodes centered around her is so dirty. They really did Chloe dirty throughout Journeys, that I can’t recall where her story ended when Journeys had its conclusion, or if her character had a conclusion at all haha. It sucks, but at least Journeys will hopefully show any future show writers, or writers of stories, to not sideline characters to the point that they’re nearly forgotten or unheard about till the importance is needed. All characters in a story deserve their relevance, no matter if the story is centered around them or not, they deserve their moments in the spotlight sometimes, not just every now and then

I'm still annoyed about how Chloe was treated. I UNDERSTAND what they were trying to convey with her, being someone that isn't sure of what path she should take on her own and learning that it's okay to not know. However, at the same time, she barely showed up in Journeys. She barely contributed anything to the story and it felt so weird how they tried to force some kind of connection with Ash at the last minute during his Championship Tournament when the 2 barely interacted. It's messed up, because I did love her when she was 1st introduced, she had such a sassy attitude and I wondered how she was going to be included with the boys, and well, we all know how well that went. Decent character but neglected too much.

Poor Chloe. She had to much going for her. I liked her design, especially with her shifting into different outfits depending on the situation, which is neat. Her sass around the first half was funny. Her voice (particularly in English) was great. But maaaan, she was done so dirty. The fact that she was on her own for the most part doesn’t help her development. She just faded into the background in favor of the main duo. And then once she got something, Eevee, it just felt cliche, but most importantly, pointless. Anyone who followed along the Master 8 arc last year will remember one of the interruptions being to Chloe’s story wrapping up, and it led to…nothing. No, seriously, she was still in the problem of the start, not knowing what to do. By the end, all she had was friendships with characters like Dawn and Serena, which is great. And then, her final decision is to become a researcher for her dad. But…it’s too late now, it is literally the last episode. This should’ve happened way before, maybe halfway. Gives her something to focus on so she’s not bumbling around just filling out her metaphorical Eeveelution dex. So yeah, Chloe had potential and a lot going for her. Unfortunately, I relate her story to throwing a puzzle against the wall, and whatever way the pieces landed in is what they went with. It just didn’t fit

The saddest reality is that... if you took out Chloe in Pokémon Journeys, nothing would really change in any meaningful way. And it's just because of how Pokémon Journeys is structured and how it is generally marketed. And I doubt she'll show up in Pokémon Horizons either and Horizons is clearly a long term story telling series.

Chloe was pretty much guaranteed to fail from the start. Due to What really hurt this series is the episodic format and giving Ash and Gon a proper home in Cerise's Lab. One moment they're in Kanto and than there suddenly in Unova and than Hoenn. Almost nothing about this series feels properly set up, so when they finally introduce something good, it still feels rather lack luster due to the lack of build up. This is one of the many reasons why it feels like Ash and Gon barely make any progress, By the time both of them finish their goals, it almost feels the animation team and writers were just trying to make their deadline to finish the anime. Project Mew, Meeting Old Characters, The World Coronation. These are things that all could have been given multiple back to back episodes, but the most we get is the occasional two parter. Even as someone who really wants to like Journeys, its really hard to defend

Chloe seemed like an interesting character, too bad it was wasted

The only good thing about Chloe, was her friendship with Dawn and how they both went to support Ash when none of his other friends did.

Her Eevee's potential was wasted and the only good thing about this character is how she made it possible for other better girls to return... Even tho Dawn's character was severely watered down. Serena was fantastic tho

Honestly, Koharu could have been written as someone that was very curious about many paths to take in life. She could have tried her hand at Pokemon battling like Ash. Done some Gym battles just to see. Done some contests. Done some other stuff as well. If Pokemon Journeys could be made into a callback to what made Pokemon great as they finally close Ash's journey, they should have used Koharu as a way to remind us of the journeys that Ash and his companions took as Koharu explores them all for her paths in life.

Imo Koharu truly does belong in journeys, because she perfectly describes this series to a tee: great ideas with lots of potential in theory but execution wise it was an effin train wreck.

They not only wasted her characterization, but in the Japanese dub, they hired Kana Hanazawa, a very popular voice actress, and the writers failed to capitalize on that fact by not writing her well. Truly a shame since I was looking forward a lot to her ever since her character was made and knowing who her Japanese VA is.

Great video! You nailed every problem with Koharu character in Pokemon Journeys. Honestly anime writers had no idea what to do with her during the running of pokemon generation 8 anime. They didn't even bother to give her galar Ponyta witch would benefit her character growth greatly. The true female main character of Pokemon Journeys in my opinion was Dawn, since she did appear in some story arcs that really mattered. Ps. I shouldn't write this but Liko from Pokemon Horizons in past 12 episodes is so much more well written character then Koharu was in entire Pokemon Journeys run.

This video feels a bit like an abituary - which is fitting, seeing how they killed Koharu's Character. Among the many failures of Journeys, this is probably the second worst, after screwing up the ending for Ash hardcore. And in both cases they turned a character who could have been great into a meaningless advertisement. There's really not much to say about it (I'm impressed you managed to put a 15 minute video together ^^), she started out SO interesting and unique, and in the end there was just nothing...

I love chloe as a character she had big potential, but the makers didn't give her justice and wasted her potential. As the anime begin i had the hope she could be like serena where her character shine after 50's episodes. But yeah it is really a shame it wasn't the case after all... The only thing i hope is that they don't ruin the chars of the horizons in name of marketing and advertisiment, what seems to be trend doing it in pokemon anime.

Whether you like it or not, Chloe's character development straight up predicted the tragic fate of Ruby Gillman. Because think about it, both started out promising and ended up as forgettable in the end. Both were done dirty by the crew who made them. And worst of all, both of them were screwed over in favor of the "popular" names. It's like they could've been better with the potential they had, but the crew decided to not care about it and completely wasted it.

I think that Chloe was a very under-utilised and Disapointing Character in Journeys she did have lot of potential but she didn’t get a lot of Development in the entire series and even when she finally got Development it was not enough to save her Character as she wasn’t even a Main Character I think Pokemon Horizons should’ve been the series were they tried the Duo Character route and have the Journey be a three main character like the previous series with Chloe joining Ash and Goh at the Beginning of the series and also since she wanted to trie different things to find out her Goal she should’ve tried the life of poke vision videos Even Tried Battles I’m sure Ash could’ve helped her with that especially in a Double Battle as well a the Contest thing also Her Eevee was also a waste potential ,like she was I thought the idea of it Nit being able to Evolve or didn’t know what it’s wants to Evolve into and her meeting every Eveelutiond would’ve lead to it being Discovered that it can GMax As I mean they Even Showed off GMax Meowth and he doesn’t batt,e really so why couldn’t Chloe and Eevee did the Same also the wasted Potential of Yamper becoming one of her Pokemon as it really liked her the most out of the entire family and would only follow her commands I thought they would pull the Sane thing with Rockruff who first lived with Kukui but eventually became Ash’sPokemon but they didn’t and Yamper fell into noun Relevance also how most of Chloe’s Episodes were more about the people she meets than about her and her own,y big development was from Meeting Dawn and Serena and another way they could’ve done with her Character was her Catching Pokemon that shared every Typing with all the Eeveelution s their was like Yamper for Jolteon and that Galarian Rapidash for Both Espeon and Sylveon Aldo her at the End becoming a research Fellow was a cop out as she hated that think she would follow in her Father’s path only to do it in the end and also they made her Last Episode more about him than her and I guess Chloe is the Silver of Pokemon as Silver the hedgehog get made fun of since he debuted in the worst Sonic Game Sonic 06 do I think Chloe deservedly so much better than Journeys.

Back in the day, the pokemon anime was an escapism to view its own stories and characters. In the rise of social media, more people are aware of an upcoming anime from the franchise just to boost sales of the games its base on, so that they can showcase our favorite pokemon on the big screen, because we loved them and maybe use them in certain playthroughs. (Like me playing through Xenoverse on an emulator) As for me I kinda left out of it just 3 episodes in Horizons and just maybe its gets good down the road. I don't know if one day I would be attached to the new MCs after leaving our iconic pallet town hero behind. Because no a days, The Pokemon Company has decided on using the anime as a marketing tool to advertise their upcoming games and pump out more plushies in fans' hands. Now I'm wondering if the pokemon company wanted to hand out its IP to other anime studios so they could take a shot at creating their own series for old time fans, like me, and showcase what Pokemon is all about.

First of all, I am sorry to be honestly that I assign Chloe Cerise to be _NOT a proper Pokegirl_ since of the constant neglect by the writers themselves. I also ended up to dislike her due to her little to no interaction and contribution to storyline. The Episodic format also adding even _MORE INSULT TO INJURY_ to her! In thank of them, she ended up for being open ended character without any future goals, forcing we to do more head cannon Thanks Journeys, they also making Serena's return being episodic and favoring Chloe than Amourshipping 💢💢💢 Small rant over

The point where I gave up on her character potential was the circus episode, the one where the owners' preferred Eeevelutions were flipped. It just became clear(or I realized late) that was going to be her schtick. At least she was there, with Dawn, to support Ash during his championship match. Thats a cool friendship moment.

I know it’s played for laughs but when you see someone injured on the ground & unconscious - you at the very LEAST ask if they’re okay & if they don’t respond, get help for them. Chloe was more concerned about how uncomfortable SHE felt & just tried to avoid the situation, which is INCREDIBLY selfish & didn’t even stop to consider that her own family’s Yamper could’ve hurt this person 😤 & to CONTINUE to be cold towards Ash afterward when he was nothing but warm & friendly was completely inconsiderate & she never apologises for ANY of her rude behaviour or gets reprimanded for it so I wouldn’t exactly call her loyal, at least at the start 🤦‍♀️ Even her own FAMILY commented on her coldness at one point! I’m glad she eventually improved - largely thanks to Eevee (whom she DIDN’T deserve!) but I just H.A.T.E. when characters act rude, selfish, mean or inconsiderate & NEVER face the consequences!

Starting off as a somewhat promising charecter, Chloe slowly faded into obscurity as one of the most hated and wasted charecters of the franchise. Words cannot describe how much love and respect of the anime and it's charecters this member of the cerise family has taken from me. I pray to jesus and arceus that we must never see chloe in pokemon horizons,for her presence could very well scar the new series.

Hold it Chloe's Character was indeed Disrespected but to me the Pokémon Horizons Series Writers can easily redeem her Character now since Ash is gone which Chloe could be in a lot more episodes then Goh will be in! I know that Fans don't like Goh but if he is just in a few episodes like 2 to 3 and there's a major reason why he's in the episodes fans won't get mad but to me Chloe will be in a lot more episodes because of her partner Eevee! Major reason why Chloe would be in a lot more episodes then Goh is because of Chloe's Goal on becoming a Pokemon Researcher which will indeed take her to different places that she has never been to which will show how much Chloe's Character has grown and hopefully we do see her again in the Galar Region with Galarian Ponyta because to me she could still catch it now! 😉🤞

I actually felt like Chloe's arc was executed perfectly. At first, she didn't know what to do, but eventually came across an Eevee that started off her journey, encountered every Eeveelution and eventually found her goal as a Pokemon Professor Assistant. She eventually became one of my favorite female Pokemon characters right behind Serena and Lillie because of that arc.

Nah, the worst remains Gen 5 anime. There are things from Journeys that were still epic, hype, and awesome. I can't remember much of the BW series that made me feel even a portion of that level of hype. The closest one was the intro that showed Charizard's return, which was utterly trash because it turned out to be nothing in the end.
