The Tragic Truth Behind EVELINE "E-001" • Resident Evil 7 Lore 

I feel bad for the bakers. Especially jack, he's just a regular dude.

For some reason Im noticing alot of people not noticong that Eveline was in fact the old woman in the wheelchair following you. That was actually a super cool twist for me.

Anyone ever get the idea that Jack is trying to help you? Yes he's coming after you but he can't control himself. When he says things like "That gun won't work the way you think it will." He's actually fighting Evelyn's control and giving you hints.

Actually, Eveline's desire for a family is also a natural behaviour: Mycetes( fungus) tend to grow in family like groups and under of them, beneath the ground, stands the Mycelium which is the " heart" of the colony and prime source of nourishment. Its purpose is to decompose elements from the soil. That's why sometimes You can find a bulk of mushrooms all put together when picked up! This, combined to her 10 years old persona, makes a lot of sense! She is just following both of her instincts, Human and Mold alike.

Apparently she was not happy with The Sims 4 big time, hence the obsession to have a real family to torture with. Illuminati solved, EA is the reason of this.

"Why does everyone hate me?" Not gonna lie, as much as I found the character overbearing, that line actually did make me flinch. She might be a dangerous biological weapon, but under all of that, she's just a broken, mentally damaged little girl who doesn't know any better. She's so scared of her "family" leaving her that she decided to FORCE them to stay. It's actually really sad, she wasn't born a monster, she was made one. One of the best Villains I've ever seen in..... anything, actually. Well done, Capcom, you did good.

Lets all be real: we all knew Grandma/Eveline was going to be the final boss since we first saw her in the table

Lucas wasn't really under eveline's control. Mia's company Tentsu provided an already infected Lucas the serum and a way to keep him from being controlled, he plays you making you think he's talking to eveline. he survived and escaped but before you enter his lab in the mines, you hear "Redfield" and another soldier communicating on radio. "Redfield" saying he will chase down Lucas. in the upcoming dlc Not a Hero, we will most likely see Lucas' fate

Know what's more sad about Eveline? In the end credits it kind of hinted that the company has been experimenting on Eveline since her birth. So the poor girl didn't had a normal childhood to begin with. Imagine the pain & agony she must have undergone at a very tender age. They destroyed her and fed her with constant medications to keep her sane. I don't blame Eveline for what she did. She was the primary victim all along. She desperately searched for a family, for a mother to comfort her.. to make her life better. But her so called gift kept ruining things for her. After being injected by Ethan, you can clearly see her shed tears and say ' Why does everyone hate me'. It's truly a tragic ending. Reminds me of the horrible illegal experiments done by Nazi's during World War II.

As far as sad resident evil stories go... Lisa Trevor takes the cake

Wow this actually in a way made me feel bad for Eveline. Don't get me wrong she was still a psychotic bitch who was really fucking annoying at times but just hearing her backstory and what happened to her, you kinda can't help but feel a little bit of sympathy especially at the end when she says "why does everyone hate me?"

Eveline didn't mind control Mia at the start because Eveline truly wanted a family. Eveline probably overheard Mia telling Ethan that she couldn't wait for the baby sitting to end. It was traumatizing for Eveline as Eveline saw Mia as a motherly figure, hence Eveline became evil. Eveline does deserve sympathy

Every time Jack kidnapped someone, Eveline hoped that the new victim would be her family. However, they ended up rejecting her, increasing her sadness. The victims were them killed and turned into mold. She practically lived her whole life constantly rejected by people who she hoped would be her family, then died without knowing why everyone hated her. What a tragic story.

i like the fact that, there is a photo of "grandma" Eveline, on a table in the basement at The beginning of the game, that says "E-001" if you rotate it. btw, you got a new sub, i was craving for RE 7 lore video :D

I tried to sympathize with Eveline, but after seeing what she had done to the Bakers took all that sympathy away.

Um since she was about to die seeing how old she was. Wouldn't the family have been freed ?

I love the child Eveline,she is really cute. But leaving that aside i have a question, in one of the documents about her, it says that she can create illusions, what if she is not dead? What if her death was an illusion, and Ethan never crated the serum, Mia never got infected, and the ship never crashed. What if the entire game is just the bad luck of an innocent family and couple, that got trapped in the biggest illusion that could ever be created

So was Evelin dying and that's why she wanted a family ? Makes more sense now why the grandma constantly followed you and didn't speak did anyone else try to shoot her lol

It's really sad if you think about it, because Eveline is doing everything she was conditioned to do. She genuinely doesn't understand that killing and taking control of others is wrong. As far as she's concerned, she's doing everything she's meant to. When she says "why does everyone hate me", it really tugs at your heartstrings, because she really _doesn't_ understand why they do. It's also implied that her family obsession was programmed into her by the company (probably to prevent her from harming her handlers). And just imagine, the only two people she trusted (Allan and Mia) betrayed her. She probably heard Mia say "I can't wait to be done with this babysitting job" at the beginning of the game. Then Allan called her a "little bitch" after she found out they were going to sell her. As much as I hated Eveline, I can't help but sympathise with her. This whole thing was the corporation's fault, and Mia and Allan are terrible people. Because of them, a little girl suffered and an innocent family was tortured and destroyed.

If Eveline hadn't of been so quick to take the Baker family over and found that they would have easily accepted her into their family, the whole adventure that happened in RE7 would not have happened in the first place. Mia could have contacted Ethan and they be Eveline's parents, all of them living in the same house as the Bakers. Only because Eveline learned the truth and was to quick when she acted did the whole think happen. I honestly feel sorry for Eveline that what she needed was never given to her. She could have had the family she wanted if the group that was transporting her had chosen to give her a proper family who could help Eveline control her abilities. And that family could have been Mia, Ethan, and the Bakers.

Now I feel bad for killing Eveline But it had to be done :( It's a bad thing though with the bakers as the bakers didn't do anything wrong all they did was try to help and their family became fucked up

Hey there Nacho, perfect lore video, with only one flaw. Eveline didn't have a Virus, It was a fungus, or a fungal organism that the Umbrella called the "Mutamycete" or simply "The Mold"

Eveline reminded me of the walrider. A naïve and innocent person was made a superweapon by evil corporations. Love Evie and love Billy. But not too much!

Eveline is a victim too. She was created by the bio weapon company and grew up inside a Lab. No body teach her the good. She used a wrong way to create a family, but family just is all a kid wanted.

Eveline's story is the most saddest story I've ever heard.

Out of Eveline and Lucas Eveline was the lesser of 2 evils because while Eveline infected people with the mould to force people to become her "family" she'd spent her life being raised in a lab and experimented on and so she just wanted a family to care about and love her. Didn't justify what she did but explained why she did it. Lucas though was crazy and evil long before Eveline ever came into the lives of the Bakers. He pretended he was inviting a kid who bullied him to a birthday party only to lock him in the attic and left him to starve to death or suffocate up there. He was also freed from Eveline early on when her creators gave him something that would free him from her control while allowing him to keep the powers the mould gave him since Lucas didn't want to lose the power and strength he got from it. Then he was hired to document Eveline's effects on his family and also started re-enacting his killing of Oliver by building sick birthday themed traps to kill people for kicks. The fact that it made Eveline think she still controlled him was a bonus. Then after running away from Ethan escaping his traps Lucas started experimenting on and killing Connections researchers and then Chris's Blue Umbrella soldiers only for Chris to stop Lucas emailing his research to The Connections and killing him after Lucas mutated.

I am going to be honest, Evie (Child version) is my favorite character. She's just so badass.

I actually felt deeply for these characters. It was such a shock to see a complete change of face for the series when I started playing. I like it.

I just got done playing this game and it was emotional. Emotional at it being over. That was a damn fine game and I'm going to keep it for replay value.

The girl is just a freaking monster! The bakers and the people turned into molded are the victims. Eveline and the company that created her are the ones that need to go to hell. Also, when Evie said, "why does everyone hate me!", my response was, "well, you made my wife chop off my hand, made Jack chase me around murderously, and you killed a lot of people, so ya that's why I hate you."

It is really sad the whole story and plot if Resident Evil 7. I can't believe what the company did to that poor girl, leading to the control of the Bakers and in total, the travasties and 'disappearences' of the people... Hiw could anyone do such a thing, especially to a young, emotional child.

Whe I finally finished the game yesterday. It hit me that this game wasn't just a love rescue mission but a sad one too. And when I saw that Evelin was REALLY the old lady in the chair inside the house. I was shocked.

all she wanted was a family. but since her normal life was taken away from her. she thought tht if she cant get one normally she would make her own. its sad because knowing how she has these powers...she probably never got the love she needed. she spent her entire life searching and searching for this family. at the end when fighting her I started crying when she said "I just wanted a family".

I love how capcom makes you think there's a supernatural force at work but it isn't it's just twisted science

I finally played and beat the game and I liked it a lot. Way better than I thought it would be especially after being disappointed with 5 and 6. In a way, I guess we can say Mia and that guy Alan were the true villains since they worked for “The Connections” organization and made Eveline into the monster she is throughout the game. The Bakers sadly were the true victims of this entire story. Just nice folks who had a run in with the wrong people.

fufufu... I feel for her. But why is no one explaining the fact that she killed people (why didn't she escape and change her ways)? Was she controlling the mold to kill or was it automatic? Why did some become unique and others not? What is the determining factor to becoming infected, killed, used as fodder, used for fun, eaten or... *Welcomed to the Family [Son]* ?

Compare: Lisa Trevor got kidnapped as a child, had her parents taken away from her and over the course of 20 years was subjected to a plethora of horrific experiments that not only left her horribly deformed but also turned her violently insane. By the time you meet her, she's a ghoulish abomination hiding out in an abandoned cottage, still searching for her long-dead mother. As much as the trauma has turned her feral and aggressive, she's not actively malicious and she still managed to retain some sentience, as evidenced by her crude diary entries and her heartbroken reaction upon seeing her mother's skeleton, followed by her throwing herself to her death. Meanwhile, Eve had been engineered as a bioweapon ever shince she was a fetus, so she never had any chance at normalcy, nor has she ever endured any mental or physical trauma that would explain her violent behavior. She is completely sane and fully aware of her own actions. By the time you finally meet her, she acts like a spoiled and sadistic brat who, up to that point, has destroyed a tanker and killed dozens of innocent people, turned the Bakers into insane cannibalistic monsters, killed Zoe just for trying to escape from her and repeatedly toyed with Mia's mind, forcing her to kill Ethan against her will. Again, she has no trauma or freudian excuse to justify her sociopathic behavior -- she simply delights in the misery she inflicts upon others. Although Jack says all she wants is a family, her possessive and manipulative behavior tell a different story. Just look at her reaction when Mia tells her they were never a family or when Ethan says he's done playing her games; that's not the behavior of a lost and lonely girl reacting badly to rejection -- it's the behavior of a spoiled and selfish brat throwing a tantrum and treating people like they're her toys or possessions. Never mind that, from the very moment the Bakers took her in, she pretty much got everything she ever wanted, yet she still turned them into her playthings -- with sadistic glee, no less. And considering she was experimented on as a fetus, who's to say her desire for a family wasn't part of her engineering to ease her infiltration rather than a genuine desire for love and affection? Whereas Lisa Trevor was a genuinely sad and tragic character, Eve is nothing more than a sociopathic tantrum-throwing brat with no actual excuse behind her cruel and sadistic behavior. If anything, the fact that even after everything she did to the Bakers, Jack's expressed pity towards her says a lot more about his sympathetic qualities than it does about hers, making her actions look even worse by comparison.

Well, if you looked at the photo in the guesthouse basement marked with "E-001" and a picture of Granny, you could connect the dots while the story unfolds. Several documents mention Evelyn as being E-001. I myself connected the dots upon arriving back in the basment later in the game and again looked at the photo. That moment was mind blowing.

To me Eveline reminds me of an online troll. She causes nothing but mayhem and problems for everyone. She ruins the lives of innocent people (the Baker family) and in the end when it all catches up to her she plays the victim.

I felt like I was one of the only people who felt sorry for Evelin. The song go tell aunt Rhody is obviously about Evelin. I fucking couldn't stand Mia from the get-go, and when I had to play her and found out what she had been up too on that ship then I hated her even more. I felt sorry for the bakers, Ethan and Evelin, but I had not one ounce of sympathy for Mia.

I wouldn't say the most heartbreaking, it was sad for sure, but Lisa Trevor's story still rings deep for a lot of people because she was literally taken from her family.
