I love all these episodes but perhaps being a former New Jersey citizen for 50+ years I learned so much about Inness from this particular episode to the point that my daughter and I were sooo fortunate to visit a special exhibition of his works at the Montclair Art Museum... Thank you David for making us artists and non artists see that transcendent light of discovery.... one dot, swipe or brush stroke at a time.. 🤩
Hi! Thank you so much, BIllChild. We are delighted you enjoyed it and appreciate your writing to us. Both of us really love Inness as well. Kind regards, David and Connie

You are phenomenally good at describing these artists I love. Turner, Whistler, & Inness. George Inness is in my top 10 landscape artists. I’m an aspiring Tonalist painter who lives in the Hudson-Mohawk Rivers Valley. I feel like I’m getting mini art history lessons, along with practical demonstrations, that honestly, are so informative & helpful to me, I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for these. Thank you!!

That was awesome!! I love the individual paintings u chose to present Inness & the final kicker, the monologue at the very end concerning the moment between chaos &…….Re-explaining how the artist leads us on, that was fantastic! Thank u & the best to u both from Missouri 💙
Dear friedricengravy6646 - From Connie (producer/director/editor): I also thought David was so superb in the conclusion - it was very moving! Thank you! Kind regards, Connie
@@DavidDunlopSimmonsArt Thank u for sharing that insight & for caring enough to follow the comment thread(s). In the world of social media, this is not necessarily common. I try not to expect too much as I know content creators r people just like us the viewers….with lives & challenges that keep them equally busy. So instead of expecting such things, I simply appreciate the moment when it does happen. 🥳 thanks again!
Thank you again,@@friedricengravy6646! We are so happy that you enjoyed programs and wanted to connect with us by watching and writing. It is true that there is not much time for writing, but we thought we would try because we are all real people, as you say - and luckily all share a belief that art, creativity and painting can create such a worthwhile bond and community. We hope to figure out how to create a few live streaming programs on RU-vid as well as our live online Tuesday Workshops for our website (www.daviddunlop.com) .So thank you! Kind regards, David and Connie
Dear kirtg1- Thank you so much - we are really happy that you enjoyed it! Good luck with your painting! George Inness is such an inspiring person and painter. Kind regards, David and Connie
Great Presentation! Thank you! That was just the greatest art lesson I have ever heard. I will be tuning in and playing with some of the lessons ideas into my work. Funny - I kind of feel like I am cheating when I use a rag and overpaint a hundred times on my abstracts. I go in blind just pushing color, shape and contrast. I guess I am in good company. I will be playing with the soft edges more!
Thank you so much, hopatcongjoe - Those are such a wonderful comments- we really appreciate that you watched our programs and then wrote to us. George Inness is such an inspiration! Thank you! Kind regards, David and Connie
Dear williamrogers8574 - Thank you for your enthusiasm and for buying it in the DVD format! We hope that you will enjoy seeing it online as well. We love creating these programs and it means so much to hear from you - so thank you! (from Connie - I also love David's painting and think that the ending is so moving as well!) Kind regards, David and Connie
Do you use synthetic tacklon brushes or natural hog hair oil colour brushes in this wonderful demonstration to create the textures through your brush motions
Hi, Dan! Thank you very much for watching and for writing to us - it means so much to us to hear from you. I am referring to creating a design that will keep the mind's eye roving around in the picture plane and not slipping outside the picture at the corners - or any other area. Sometimes a corner might have more detail or a darker area. All the best, Connie and David
Surely he was a man in his prime I'm sure he painted exactly what he's saying. But( at his age) he probably ( he could not see clearly) that's why everything's so muted and( blurred ) which is not my favorite thing... so sad 😢
Hi, lyndameeder6293 - Thank you for watching our program and for writing to us. We appreciate your thoughts Good luck with your painting! Kind regards, David and Connie
Fascinating program and way beyond the one sentence description from a college instructor that said Inness was trying to show spiritualism in his paintings. That may be true but is too simplistic.
HI, helenhabel1773 - What a wonderful comment - we really appreciate it! Thank you again for watching and writing. George Inness is a fascinating person and painter and we loved making this program. Good luck with your painting! Kind regards, David and Connie
Dear user-zu7gk9ol9f - That is such a wonderful comment for us - we really appreciate that you watched our programs and then wanted to write. George Inness's paintings - and David's - are so amazing! Thank you! Kind regards, David and Connie
These videos have crystallized some landscape ideas for this watercolor hobbyist…. Amazing how one can hear the same thing over and over again and it just goes in one ear and out the other…. And then…… thank you….
Dear wmbriggz - Thank you for such positive comments We are really happy that you watched the program and then wrote to us. It means so much to hear from you! Good luck with your painting! Kind regards, David and Connie
Hi, JayNewcombArt - We are happy that you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for watching and for writing to us! We love hearing from you. All the best, Connie and David
I have a question David. Do you buy the panels ready prepared by an art shop…….or do you paint straight on to a factory fresh piece of Dibond aluminium??? In other words…..can we paint straight on to Dibond from the aluminium factory outlets , or, do we need to prime the surface in some way (factory pieces are much cheaper than the art shops).
HI, dulcieogilviw5786 - Thank you for watching our program and for writing to us. I paint directly on composite sheet aluminium, like Dibond, Compbond, or Omegabond, comprising two 0.3 mm thick aluminium cover layers and a polyethylene or mineral core, and on the raw aluminum that I buy from the hardware store. I cut my - wearing gloves - but you can also ask the shop to cut it for you. You can search those terms and find the material. I believe that certain online artstores may now carry it. Good luck with your painting! Kind regards, David and Connie
Thank you JapanJimmy! We love Inness as well and he was such a splendid painter We are thrilled that you watched it and enjoyed it and that you wrote to us. We really appreciate hearing from you! Kind regards, David and Connie
Thank you for taking the time to reply. Looking forward to more of your videos and instruction. My 5 year old son and I painted some watercolours this morning; it motivated us.
Dear JapanJimmy and son - We are so happy to hear that you are creating watercolors together - what a wonderful experience! Good luck with your painting and thank you for writing. Kind regards, David and Connie
Dear europeanroyalty4778 - That is a very lovely and hilarious comment! David has the same day job - as a painter and teacher! We have produced many programs together and we decided that we would like to share them more widely than tv broadcast and DVD. So we are adding more programs to this channel and it is lovely to connect with other artists and viewers! Thank you again! Kind regards, David and Connie
As an experienced painter, I find this manner of working to be quite unpleasant and dissatisfying. It is far too random, uncontrolled, and leaves very raw semi-impasto strokes that will ultimately create amateurish glare in a finished painting. These quick wipes and daubs seem to strive for immediate gratification, as if good painting is really so easy. Certainly not my cup of tea, although I am a huge admirer of George Inness.
Dear KpxUrz5745 - Thank you for watching our video and for your comments. We appreciate your perspective and good luck with your painting. Kind regards, David and Connie
