The fact that this group came together and made two albums together is a rare example of legendary musicians working together and making fun music is a great story!
I'm approaching 52, and while I"m not at the end of life, I can see it from here.. and that one song End of the Line.. that's what it's about. Mature men wrote a GREAT SONG for those of us who are privileged enough to make it so far.. in years. xo We're going all the way, to the End of the Line!! Yes, I sure am. :)
Fantastic group they made some great songs together and enjoyed doing so and really had great respect for each other ,they were all heart broken when their friend Roy Orbison died so suddenly, a sad time for his friends and fans such a great voice,he was a legend sadly missed but his wonderful music will live on,forever be with us. Love you Roy you were the best singer in the world.
At this point in their lives they were all older, established and very successful. They came together for no reason other than the joy of creating music in each other's company. So glad George pulled Roy out of retirement and gave him one last chance to shine.
A beautiful tribute to ‘The Big O’ showing your emotions with how he was depicted in this video. The album was recorded however unfortunately Roy passed away before they could shoot the video. Bless you both 🙏🏼
The interesting dynamic of this group is the great respect each member had for all the other members. It showed up as humility by each of the most legendary group ever assembled. The poignancy of the song was punctuated by the death of Roy prior to filming. It has since then become even more profound with the passing of Tom Petty and George Harrison.
This is my favorite song, not just of theirs but of any artist, because I am getting close to the end of the line. I love the honest, heartfelt reactions that both of you always show. God bless you.
GREAT reaction! The album started with Handle With Care, and ended with End Of The Line. This song has such an easy groove to it (as with Handle). It's simple, but effective rock! I love it that he group is full of so many accomplished guitarists, that Tom Petty is 'relegated' to playing bass! (even though on the album it's Jeff Lynne that is playing bass) The video pays perfect homage to Roy Orbison, who passed not long after the release of the album (and before the video was made) - hence the 'empty' rocking chair with guitar and picture of The Big 'O'! RIP Roy, Tom, George!
Roy, George, Bob and Jeff gave us so many smiles and good times with their magical musical offerings. Don't sweat the small stuff and count your blessings. It's a wonderful life.
Thanks, kids! Love the Wilburys.. the ultimate "super group".... love your reaction! (also, give it up for drummer Jim Keltner.. he was offered a position as the sixth Wilbury, but declined.. apparently from modesty.. but he was awesome)
I love that you both appreciate this amazing group of top tier artists. It was such a special moment in time and their music is timeless. As she said, it brings you joy. Thanks for the reaction.
Yes, this song speaks to our own mortality, but it also encourages us to get out there, and live our lives to the fullest, and enjoy ourselves as much as possible.
The idea of the group being called "The Travelling Wilburys" was to "escape" their "legend status" and come together as friends making music. It's also worth tracking down the original "sleeve notes" written my Michael Palin of Monty Python fame. George Harrison famously mortgaged his house to fund the Python movie "The Life of Brian". Harrison and the group became long time friends and this was seen as a small return of the favour.
Such a beautiful song and beautiful tribute. Very tastefully done. RIP Roy, George, and Tom. Thanks for all the music. Your music will live on for generations to come!
I don't know how you access your music, but certainly give the whole album a listen. It's so much fun and all the guys get to make their own contributions, "You're Not Alone Anymore" being Roy Orbison's highlight and the shaggy dog story "Tweeter and the Monkeyman" being Dylan's. The song "Margarita" features the great line "She wrote a long letter on a short piece of paper".
🇬🇧 I love your reactions. Two of the most genuine, beautiful people on yt. And the bonus is, you like the same music as me. Jeff Lynn & ELO have always been my favourite band since the 70s. So when The Travelling Wilburys came on the scene i was delighted. Not just one legend (Jeff Lynn) in the band, there were five! RIP Roy, George & Tom ❤🎼
I just love you guys, this song gets me in the feels everytime I hear it, the rocking chair with Roys guitar, God Bless both of you I really enjoy your reactions
It's impossible to not tear up listening and watching this one. The message that we all get to the end of the line is there but at the same time the reality that we've lost Roy, Tom and George hits hard. What a great song. We're all so fortunate to have lived during the time when all of these great artists and musicians were part of us every day. Music is the bond that brings all of us together. You two do a great job with your reactions, please keep them coming.
When they were putting the band together the non negotiable inclusion was Roy Orbison. They all agreed that his voice would be the glue that held it all together.
Beautuful reaction guys ❤️❤️ I was riding with Andreis emotions, as I saw him notice the photo , rocking chair & guitar. Most of us have shed those same tears...Loss of 3 of these legends & mortality in general. "Dont waste time, these are the best years of our lives" 🎶 Richard Clapton...(An Australian singer/songwriter living Legend! It's a superb Classic hit & well worth checking out 👍👍👍(Richard Clapton - Best years of our lives (1982)) ✌️❤️ 🇦🇺
there's was also a country music group of legends just like the Wilburys called 'The Highwaymen" that group had Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson, worth checking out
Sad for the boys losing Roy. Now Tom and George gone. sigh What a gift to the world The Traveling Wilburys are. Just a bunch of good old boys having fun for a period toward end of their separate, successful careers. Another wonderful reaction video. Thank you
3:03 The 6th person in the band was the drummer Jim Keltner. This is also a very famous musician, but not as famous as the other 5. They are/were the top of the class.
Roy was so happy about the album and the fact it was number one. Then passed away shortly after. My take away from that, is he died happy. 🙂 I guess it makes me feel better at least.
🇨🇦 If you really pay attention (to all music), you would probably notice how 95% of songs from 1959 to 1989, is upbeat, light, happy, positive and not mostly negative like todays music ! 🇨🇦
I bought the album straight away and thought it was a complete success. Each of the five musicians also had a solo song on it. Tom Petty "Last Night", Jeff Lynne, "Rattled, Bob Dylan", "Congratulations 2", Roy Orbison, "not alone any more", George Harrison, "Heading For The Light". Listening to the record is just fun. For the second Wilburys album, Del Shannon, another star from the early 1960s, was scheduled to take Roy's place. Unfortunately, he committed suicide shortly before the recording.
The rocking chair is Roy who died. The song is for each of us. Live your life with joy. Live your life without fear. We are all going to the end of the line. It's alright.
Roy died before they could film the video hence the empty rocking chair. It breaks me every time to know how ill he was during these recording sessions.
You May want to check out Bob Dylan early solo career with "The Times They Are A-Changin'" or "tangled up in Blue". Great work I really like your reactions and hope you check these out I think you will like them.
Jeff Lynne put this group together to raise money for Roy orbison because he found out Roy was broke because his songs did not have royalties from the late 50s and early 60s, this was a project of love
