When I lived in Whittier I would travel up Beverly just to enjoy the trees I lived close to Washington & Norwalk Blvd it's such a calming drive seeing beautiful trees relaxed me at that time a single mom of 3 boys & 1 girl 😘I survived 🙃

I love all the trees throughout Whittier. Especially when the Jacarandas are in bloom. You are always in the shade no matter which side of the street you walk. Thank you for the video.

I spent some time under the Moreton Bay Fig at City Hall when I was there this June. It's spectacular. On a Saturday afternoon, I was all alone. Pretty near heaven. I'd also have to praise Painter north of Philadelphia.

On the north east corner of Beverly and Bright is a gorgeous OLD Spanish cork oak tree that was brought from Spain around 100 years ago! The bark is actual cork! It’s in the front yard of the home with the white picket fence. (My childhood home).

I used to live 1 street over from lambert and Calmada. I miss living there. I’m glad you my old neighborhood in this video. A lot of great memories.

The Victorian home on Beverly and Painter has a massive Banyan tree. It looks like a magnolia but it’s a Banyan tree. I think it’s one of the oldest or largest banyan tree in the US or something. Either way it’s a magnificent tree

This is funny. When my mom and 2 other ladies wrote Founders and Friends, they were originally going to name the book The Trees of Whittier. Many of the oldest trees were planted at the beginning of the driveways to historical homes.

The reddish tree in front of the Whittier College Chapel was planted (early 80s?) in memory of a music student who was killed in an accident, Dee Hochstettler. There used to be a plaque beneath it but it was stolen for its metal. It has grown into a lovely tree.

I live on the west side of Whittier and most of the trees are dying they getting some type of fungus on the base of the trunk and they will cut down the trees without replanting not sure why and Ya I miss the shade but all that is gone now.

The street I grew up in Whittier was about 1/4 mile long and at that time, it was lined with trees, forming a tunnel of trees. Now days, the trees are gone, I'm out, and the area is completely different, not for the better!
