Most people don’t know shit for example the sro is more of a competition optic wouldn’t recommend as a edc optic or duty use there’s other for that , some people complain about “ not being duty rated “ but yet they aren’t in any LE or military , just people that are normal ass mfs carrying, there’s literally multiple guys on RU-vid that’ll break it down for ya on what stuff works great for whatever use you’re planning on doing , just takes time and doing your research

SROs are amazing. My only issue is, it is borderline useless when it rains. Huge optic window just allows all the water to pool in there and it will fuck with your emitter. I use them every single time for competition but the second it started pouring rain, that shit was basically unusable. Enclosed emitter has a huge advantage there
I hated the sro forreevvverrr. I always went rmr. Went to the range with a friend a few weeks ago and shot his staccato with sro and I was sold instantly. That staccato with sro vs another staccato with rmr, and I enjoyed the sro much more. I just think they are ugly, but as far as functionality, all day. I will be changing over to an sro in a week or two.
Broke my SRO bumping into a door in a CQB class. Acro P2, Steiner MPS, Rmr, 509t for all purposes. Probably except for competition where the SRO shines the best.
This comment is so true. Not trying to sound picky, but yes I prefer green over red. I have my red eotech(wish it was green) I have a green trijicon mro(love it) and I have holosun 508t green on my EDC. Trijicon/eotech need more green
The sro is a great optic the round window makes it easier to pick up the dot but there are trade offs the circular chape in more prone to breaking than an RMR which has a patented shape that makes it more sturdy against drops and abuses such as racking a round against a hard object using the optic body if you lose function in your non dominant arm
You doing that exercise on the range with your firearm is quite literally more than what 95% of LEO/Civilians will put their guns (and bodies 😂) through. Most people plink at the range and then drop their CCW on a Walmart bathroom tile floor and that’s their “duty use”
I just like iron sights. It works and I usually think any other kind of sight just looks silly, in my opinion. It just looks "excessive". But I will never shoot another man down for having a sight... kind of like any other caliber. Work with what makes you comfortable. Not what's "in" or "tacticool".
Sage Dynamics has done alot of reviews of red dots usually he gives his opinion if something would be a good option for duty military or like law enforcement hence duty
I bought an RMR because of Aaron Cowan of sage dynamic’s drop test and white paper. I have no regrets but when I go to USPSA matches and see other people with the SRO’s MASSIVE window I get a little jealous
I only have red dots on my conceal carry pistols. So I prefer smaller red dots. Trijicon is awesome but very expensive. I use Holosun and Shield red dots exclusively. They are around the $300 mark, durable, small, long battery life and great customer support. If I did go with a Trijicon it would be their rmr type 2.
The new tier 1 holster looks good. Have you ran it yet? IMO have a DOT. Get good at it. If you have options. Find the best 1 for you and shoot/dry fire
Still running irons. After shooting pistols for almost 40 years, not sure I want to relearn a different method. Not knocking red dots at all and I have a RMR on an AR with an offset mount and love it. Just can't with a pistol.
Somebody take a Kahles 5k dollar scope to test if it's "duty rated" 😂. Some stuff is more susceptible to damage than others. I have two SRO's, and I didn't have anything worse than a few scuffs from normal drops. I don't drag my pistols behind a Toyota tundra, or Bruce Lee stomped them. But for extra durability, I got the BROS mount from Jagerworks because I'm HARDCORE 😂
Tac Games or action 2-gun red dot users moving towards enclosed (last 4 months). Rain, sweat or dirt can get inside and ruin a stage at those events by obstructing the sight.
One of my only complaints among gun reviewers would be the "ultra high speed" crowd. I don't know about you, but me personally I'm not doing halo jump into the ocean followed by a one mile swim and inch crawling through miles of mud. If you do the above then by all means focus on "duty" rated. I just want to defend myself, my loved ones, and the people who can't protect themselves. I am not Jason Bourne 🤣
Counterpoint: complaining it isn't duty rated is a strawman argument. What people probably mean when they say that is that the SRO is not designed to be as durable as the RMR, which Trijicon says very clearly on their website. That doesn't make it a bad optic, or that it can't take a beating, it just means it's not designed to be beat the hell up to the extent that an RMR is. Aaron Cowen at Sage Dynamics did a drop test with two SROs, and they both shattered their glass on the first drop, while the RMRs held up to substantially more abuse. Anecdotal evidence doesn't prove a product is good or bad or reliable or not. I say run what works best for you and let everyone else hate on it if they want.
They'll probably buy the new Eotech pistol red dot just because of the brand and turns out, Sage Dynamics exposed how bad they are. 3 different dots and none passed his test... (same takes he has done for years)

I don’t understand the Duty Rated thing either. For me it’s all about what I’m comfortable with. I love my little Holosun mainly because i discovered quickly that I prefer green dots to red dots.
@@wisemencompany EPS carry and 509t are much smaller than the acro but much more reliable than open emitters. Dust, rain, lint from cloths from daily carry. Closed emitters are the future.
That’s always killed me “duty rated”. The amount of shit I broke when in Iraq and stateside that was labeled “ duty” is off the charts. The same people calling it that we the same who mount BUIS under a hard mounted LPVO
Its an open emitter. If you dont understand why that should not be used for duty then you shouldnt be giving advice. Ive never had an issue with my 509 ACSS
@@wisemencompany My thoughts exactly when i pick up any open emitter and it has a little dust on it so now my red dot turns into a starburst lightshow. not to mention if it got muddy you clown.
