Portugal is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe.

Bought a house in Tavira last year and will be moving there permanently in several years. I concur with you on the numbers. I've run the numbers for myself and the biggest variable once you have your housing/utilities/health situated seems to be how much travel you plan to do. I see that # as one of the larger drivers in our expense budget.

In Portugal you can easily do without a Car . Less hassle , especially in a town like Tavira . walking and public transport . easy access to southern Spain and beyond .

Thank you! This was the area I was considering. I appreciate the real life costs you presented. The fact that you have lived there for many years and are still there is a good value. It seems health care and housing will be the most expensive cost and car expenses.

It would be nice if the euros were also mentioned in US dollars 🥴🥴

Thank you Terri for that helpful information. I’m planning on moving to the Algarve in a few months and I have a few questions. Would it be possible to have a brief WhatsApp call with you? If you charge for that, could you let me know the cost? Look forward to hearing from you. Dale

Hi Terry, sounds great but how does one get to stay there year-long - you mention residency, but not how to get it... Is there another video addressing this point?

Thank you for an excellent video! Portugal looks perfect. We are retired educators looking for a moderate summer climate area, with a plaza lifestyle, and near good healthcare (my wife has MS and is a cancer survivor). We walk, and ride, so public transportation is required. I am a retired American educator. We helped a new school open in Lviv, then spent 6 weeks in Krakow, and we were in Tallinn for a month before heading back to Oregon. There are several significant advantages to living in Portugal: climate, healthcare, culture, and affordability. Thanks! Dean and Cindy

So for the digital nomad visa, which requires an income of $3,350/month, that should give a person a comfortable lifestyle overall.

it depends on the cities. for lisbon, it is much higher. 2500euros for a family of three members is simply comfortable.

Portugal is overrated and getting way too expensive now for what it is.. better more affordable options exist elsewhere

Like where? Spain? Italy? The USA is way too expensive for retirees! I need to get out of here!

The best healthcare is being HEALTHY. Happy for this couple but I am not a fan of the EU. It is slowly becoming an extension of the WOKENESS in the US. I'd rather opt for South America or Asia somewhere, cheaper and lower taxes. All the Best!

I would NEVER ever become a tax resident of any EU country... just asking for trouble with their wacko laws. Health insurance can be affordable in the US if you plan it right and qualify for ACA subsidies which is easy to do if you're living off savings/capital gains.

@@sbkpilot1 I can’t apply for ACA. I’m 68 and forced to take the crappy Medicare Advantage plan for $175. per month. Can’t afford the more expensive Supplement plan. Am also looking at Panama and Uruguay.
