What really annoys me with Monster Energy is that their formula and flavors are basic. Bang, Ghost and C4 easily outclass Monster Energy. Yet Monster refuse to make a nootropic based energy drink formula or bring in interesting flavors like Bang did. They dont want to jmprove their energy drink to rise above the competition, yet theyre petty enough to take them out by suing them into bankruptcy. Makes zero sense.
Suing them along wasn’t the reason why bang failed . They failed bcuz JO ran it into the ground he ruined a relationship with Pepsi and hundreds of retailers who he never paid . He had to pay Pepsi over $200m plus royalties to get out of his contract .it’s his business decisions that cost bang to fail in the last few years
True, they could have come up with more innovative flavors and never did. At least when Monster came out with Reign they tried some new things, which were really good, but never really improved on the Monster drinks.
@deszi6936 Bang definitely did have a lot more problems that just Monster and Jack did go a bit overboard. The whole Pepsi issue was a mess and although none of us know the complete truth behind what happened with Pepsi and Bang (just bits and peices from both sides), Bang broke the agreement which was a major flaw. They could have maybe survived that lawsuit, but the Monster lawsuit on top of it was the icing on the cake. Well, a few Monster lawsuits.
As a merchandiser, Bang is one of the energy drinks that Polar Beverages carries, I personally don’t care for them. I noticed you have UpTime, Sparkling Ice, A Shoc, and C4, those drinks Polar Beverages does carries, I hope my company does get rid of them
If I recall correctly, Monster doesnt have any connections to Polar, so there is a decent chance Monster will take the formula and have it produced by one of its own manufacturers. Then again, they may just let Bangs manufacturer procedures continue to do its own thing under their ownership.
I tend to like Bang most but split the drink in half and mix w Sparkling Ice. Ironic that Bang may implode near the 4th~ I agree with your sentiment and I do not ever remember having a Monster drink and that will remain s0~
The FTC has let it go through this happened June 30th . Bang had filed a motion for chapter 7 so in other words had the FTC said no they would have just liquidated all assets . Monster energy was the only company to put a bid in .
? According to the screenshot I took of the article, everything was still pending the FTC investigations (as I understood it). They said the hearing is July 13. I do admit, my reading and comprehension skills could be off when it comes to legal speak
I think your missing something here. Business is cut throat. All companies spend more on litigation then you realize. Protecting your brand and brand integrity is something that every company does. Being a publicly traded company allows these laws suits to be public knowledge. A company like Red Bull that is not public does not have to disclose any litigation.
Im fairly confident that I didnt miss that, and did mention I know business is cut throat. Ive also covered the lawsuits between Bang and Monster over the past several years in a couple of videos, so I covered a lot of the topic.... therefore, I wasnt able to fit EVERYTHING into this video, so this video could be considered part of a set of videos. If it seem like I missed anything here, it has probably been covered in a separate video and i really, really, really try to cut down on the lengths of my videos 😂, which usually means not repeating myself. I understand everything you are saying and I understand protecting the brand, but that was not the case here. Monster was brutal and more than just cut throat. This was cut your throat, watch you bleed out, then right before you die, patch your throat up, keep you on life support, then put you in a prison and make you watch them destroy all the brands you created and only sell the top rated products. 😂😂😂 (otherwise know as another day at work for businesses).
I don't see anyone drinking Monster anymore. I did see them in 99cent only stores and that is when you know you are going down. The CEO is a sleazy m o f o. I used to be a promotional model for a competitor (not energy but in the beverage category) and he came over to us at the Bar and Nightclub convention. He was really gross and rude. My friend said I should have sued him for some lewd behavior. I hope he gets sued as much as possible to put him and that awful drink company that quite literally puts holes into your brain if you drink it long enough. I am a nurse and I never drank more than two energy drinks in my entire life. Taurine is Satan for your body (this goes for ALL energy drinks with this ingredient and various others, do your research)!
I didn't know what a really good tasting energy drink was until I tried Bang. I used to love Monster, until the taste really became gross to me. I don't see the appeal of Monster as being a real power house company.. other than the logo comes off as "cool"
The only Monster I drink is the Reign...that's still Monster though right? I stopped drinking the regular Monster drinks simply because I didn't care for the taste of most of them, they weren't that good compared to some of the other companies out there like I'd much rather pick up a C4 or Alani Nu. I really don't want to support them.
Are you going to remove the Monster cans from your energy drink wall in protest?! On a side note, I wonder whatever happened those new bang flavors? Did Mr. Owoc perpetrate some kind of fraud saying they exist when they didn't? Or could Monster unearth the lost flavors?
Im not sure if I can go that far. Im also trying to figure out what to do for reviews. I may 'personally' not buy them, but as for being a reviewer of their products, I don't think my audience should suffer over my beliefs so I will probably continue to review them. The new flavors were when Jack was still around. His wife is the head of marketing. Im uncertain if she is still there but if she was spearheading the new releases, they could have been put on hold. Why come out with new flavors if you are uncertain where the company is going.... and you fire her husband.
DIdn't see about Bang Energy company declaring bankruptcy ....that really sucks, as Bang imo is WAY better than Monster. All sugar free, more flavors.....guess that means I need to stock up on that Key Lime Pie Bang before it disappears.
@@HiNRGboy it tastes just like a KL pie. You taste the sweet lime, a creaminess to it, and even has that back flavor of graham, still my fave Bang flavor out there.
On the corporate side they might be an awful company but the support they have for action sports will always have me supporting them they’re the reason extreme athletes can make a living doing what they do the sponsor supercross so I think what they did here is wrong but they do so much for action sports I have to buy from them to support riders of all kinds
And they're being paid with evil blood money!!!! 😂 Joking, joking!!! Its a good point. There are a lot of sponsorships involved as well... but, its a 2 way street. The atheltes are also promoting Monster. When GFuel started treating their employees bad, there was an uprising of many big influencers that left Gfuel because they didnt want to work for a bad company. Same thing with Twitch recently.
Protests are the purest form of democracy. Your reasoning for not buying monster is my reason for never voting for democrats or republicans.. pure evil.. vote green at least your hands stay clean #cornel2024 #cornelwest2024 #cornelorbust #cornelwestorbust #cornelwestorbust2024 "Justice is what love looks like in public"
Jack Owoc was a train wreck and is a subpar human being. However, with this said, I am aligned with you and your logic. It’s important to remember this isn’t about Bang, this isn’t about Owoc, it’s about the hostile legal business conducted by Monster against the small time brands that do not have the financial means to defend themselves. It’s sickening and we should all be upset about this. These massive corporations kill off the small competition by bleeding them financially. This goes for any and all business segments. It is crucial to note that without competition we enter dictatorship under these large companies and this business scenario decimates the need to improve and innovate. Well presented, this was clear and concise. Always and will continue to be a big fan of your work! I hope you will continue your YT journey.
Very well stated! Appreciate the support. As for Coca Cola... Coca Cola only distributes for Monster, they don't own Monster. I mean, Coca Cola could be a horrible company too but I don't follow soda much.
@@CaffeineMan1 Agreed! I will edit my original post. You are correct, I should have referred back to your detailed Monster Video from last year or the year prior.
Whether you love monster or hate them. It's bad that they are trying or have purchased bang. Less competition always equals less innovation without lots of competition we the consumers won't get as many if any at all new flavors, new sweeteners, new healthy, ect. Monster owns quite a few energy drink companies in the USA already.
I won't defend Monster's litigious nature, but Bang kind of asked for a lawsuit with the super creatine stuff. I see why Monster was the one to file the lawsuit since the false advertising "took sales" from Monster, but it probably should have been someone else. Either way I still don't support Monster being the ones to buy Bang. Monopolies are never good.
I can agree to a certain extent about the super creatine as well, but I would have also liked to have more answers on the super creatine issue. Some research said there was some in there. Other studies said a miniscule amount and another said none. With how big Monster is, these "independent" studies could have been influenced. Not to try and throw out conspiracy theories or anything, Im just saying, if there was any creatine in there, how is that any different than other companies pixie dusting ingredients just to say they have them? But yes, they should have seen the writing on the wall very early on and took creatine off the can. I mean, they had backlash about BCAA's so they changed over to EAA's. They should have removed the creatine when they did that.
I wouldn't think Monster is trying to save them. They're trying to cash in on their corpse. This is like in gaming terms where you fight the boss, kill it, loot the body... then try to loot the body again.
Low Carb Monsters are my go to daily driver for a decade+ With that said the company is KINDA sketchy beyond the corporate vulture stuff, its the culture the company filed for their name/ttrademark just weeks after 9/11 the “M” is really just three hebrew numbers next to each other.. 6 being the number.. 666 on the can similarly theres an upside down cross in the “o” in monster. when you take a sip, the cross is upside down..along with their slogan being “unleash the beast” maybe some of that is unintentional, but mayne not. the backbone of this company seems to be dark in nature regardless if i actually like some of their products
Not just one, It was gods and monsters(immortals fenix rising)/ monster hunter (which was created before the energy drink lol)/ dark deception monsters and mortals and they even sued nintendo for Pokemon for pocket monsters. They're a nobhead company lol
Sad day , monster even ripped off bang with reign . Bang created the performance energy category a billion dollar category at this point and is the biggest loser in it all . So crazy .
I’m really torn on this one. I’m a big monster fan but have always hated how they sue anyone that they can even tho they aren’t even competitors. When they sued Bang I was kinda happy about it because the I really didn’t like Jack Owoc. Monsters lawsuit showed studies that there wasn’t any “super creatine” in Bang but all the studies were Independent and had different results so that is a big red flag. But since Jack Owoc also called Bang “a miracle drink that could reverse mental re--“ I just don’t feel comfortable believing anything he says. I’m happy Jack is out of the picture but I don’t know if monster needed to flex there power like that. It’s all very confusing.
I have NEVER heard anyone be the wiser that “super creatine”isn’t actually creatine . They used this confusion to their advantage and have had this coming honestly.
Caffeine Man but Reign descontinued some flavors in USA and in Europe. Reign in USA descontinued Lemon HDZ, Mang-o Matic and Sour Apple. I think Monster Energy ask to Reign for descontinued all the flavors of Reign in USA and Europe for buy Bang Energy.
Since Reign is owned by Monster it makes sense they would discontinue some drinks. Monster will always discontinue a drink if its not hitting the right sales number. They come out with so many drinks, theres not enough room on the shelves to stock them all so they have to discontinue some to make room for others. Makes sense they would do the same thing with Reign flavors.
I stopped drinking Bang because 300mg is just a bit much. I stick w/Ghost or Ryze but I rarely drink Monster. But they buy Bang, I won’t drink Bang/Monster again.
I'm not a fan of Monster or Bang energy drinks but I absolutely love Bangs Redline energy drinks. They are the only energy drinks that don't make me sick. Monster sux.
That's not capitalism, it's corporatism, captitalism is the reason we get multiple different brands competing with each other, it's the opposite of capitalism really
@@Deagle-lj7tv “It’s not capitalism” Well, since “capitalism” describes an actually existing real world system and not abstract ideals invented in billionaire funded libertarian think tanks, and is the outcome of actual human history which takes place in a statist context, this is capitalism. It’s been capitalism since the 20th century.
@@Deagle-lj7tv Oh and btw “corporatism” refers to a system where the economy is organized in unions of business owners, unions of workers, and the government oversees both to ensure the interests of the state/nation as a whole are protected. The name “corporatism” comes from the Latin word for “body,” and isn’t a reference to “corporations rule everything.” It’s a nationalist variant of syndicalist socialism. While there are aspects of this system at work in the American system, it basically completely ignores the national worker union and national interest part and the state just openly cooperates with big business to screw over everyone outside of the elite capitalist class. Which kinda makes sense since America is a fake country with no national identity, and is effectively a shopping mall with a bloated military.
The two biggest companies - Red Bull and Monster - yet the worst tasting energy drinks and lack of originality. Monopoly is not good in business. The best energy drink companies are those that are smaller yet have the best quality and flavors.
As a big supporter of Monster Energy Beverages and their other products like Reign, NOS, and Full Throttle, I’m disappointed to hear how they are handling things. I feel like Mr. Owoc from Bang wasn’t always the most honest person when it comes to promoting his Energy Drinks but at least I would like to see them save Bang from being discontinued all together and off the shelves for good. Thanks for sharing your opinion caffeine man.
Owoc isn’t honest or a good guy. Terrible rep. but he got screwed but that’s what happens when you try to take competition from a almost trillion dollar company 😂😂😂
Who owns PepsiCo? ========================== 9.54% The Vanguard Group, Inc. 8.03% BlackRock, Inc. 4.29% State Street Global Advisors, Inc. 1.97% Geode Capital Management, LLC 1.27% Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc. No suprises here.
Honestly, the only reason I abstain from trying Monster energy drinks is how ridiculously litigious they are similar to Bethesda with commonplace trademark names because they happen to use the same word in a completely unrelated market. If the company was around when Monster Hunter or even Pokemon first came out, I would guarantee both companies would change their names after enough legal disputes.
I agree it was not nice Caffeineman but business is not nice and all these company's really only care about destroying competition to make the most profit.
Hello 👋 I just stumbled upon your video, thank you for this recap! My biggest question I dwell on is: Will Monter continue to produce Bangs??? I drink Bangs everyday, my goto is Star Blast#1!!!! I have cleaned out every store, gas station, liquor store, anywhere in my area. I am now 😮 going nuts trying to find my drink and going nuta!!! 😂 to some I might soundboard but I drink 3-5 Star Blast daily and I need my caffeine 🥴😱🫣 like most I started with monsters here, red bull there, but since Bang started it changed the spectrum for me!!! I've been a high Torrance caffeine intake nut for several years, after my last daughter I couldn't drink coffee (which I would drink 3 or 3 venti coffee with 4 add shots daily), anymore. Kudos caffeine man, im glad to see I'm not the only caffeine nut 😅😂😂
The current plan for Monster is to retire all of the products VPX sells, so no more Redline, Vooz, Stokced and other VPX supplements. They DO plan on still making and selling Bang because Bang WAS the 3rd top selling energy drink in the world before going bankrupt. Unfortunately, in typical Monster fashion, they will be discontinuing more than half of the drinks currently in the line. Fingers Crossed none of them are yours!
Correct, they actually purchased VPX (Vital Pharmaceuticals). Its been rumored that they will sell off or close down all the other branches/names of the other supplement products they sell and just keep Bang on the shelves.
Monster is diabolical. I refuse to buy Monster. Their shit is gross but what they stand for is enough to repel me. I’ve never known a greedier company. I looked this up bc I can’t find Bangs anymore and knew something has progressed since bankruptcy. I miss my peach mango 😭
Glad you agree! I heard some stores stopped carrying Bang all together. Not because of this but because of the creatine lawsuit. Other stores are selling down all of the old design cans to make way for the new design cans. With coca cola distributing Bang energy drinks, Im certain they'll be back in all stores soon enough. I heard they will also be discontinuing a TON of flavors and only focusing on the top 12 best-sellers. Peach Mango should make the cut.
This guy is full of crap. He's bias. Monster is no hero but I worked for Jack and the level of unethical shenanigans going on in this company we're too wide and diverse to speak of here. He was no hero and he made a lot of falsified claims on what bang energy can do, I was there! He ran the company very poorly as well. The abuse was off the chain. Religious, his actions did not reflect this at all!
All of them. Monster, Reign, Nos, Full Throttle, Mother, etc... They own a lot but ironically enough I don't really drink a lot of them to begin with. It was mostly just a couple of Ultras. That being said, I won't drink them for "personal use". I still plan to review them.
Monster is hard on my stomach I think anyway so I tend to skip that one. Bang had so many options and good flavors it was refreshing to see in stores for a while. Bang sort of paved the way for other drinks.
No worries! You can keep on drinking it! Millions of people like Monster! I expect 99.9% of the people who used to drink to keep on drinking it. This wasnt to convert anyone away; Just putting the info out there and my opinions, because I know people would ask. 👍👍👍
Monster products suck. Bang is irrelevant as other supplement companies have put out far superior drinks. Wont matter if Bang is bought out or liquidated by Monster because I wont be buying either product.
True, a lot of other companies do put out a lot of better products. Id like to see a rise of the somewhat smaller supplement companies that are growing, keep growing and take Bangs place in the number 3 spot and higher. If C4, Ghost, GFuel, Ryse and many others continue to do as well as they are doing, they should be good enough competition to keep Monster in check.
Bang was originally sued for making claims about their benefits that were false. The second suit was originally from another company that owns the Bang brand name and VPX wasn’t paying them and then monster joined in on the suit.
This makes me sad. I have never really liked the taste of Monster drinks, (I drink zero sugar) and they also have unnecessary crap ingredients. BANG is one of the cleaner energy drinks with some very unique flavors. My fave BANG is Whole Lotta Chocolatta. I hate this news and sadly, of Monster does go through with the deal, it will be hard not to buy the BANG drinks but ethically, it won’t be hard. Monster, you really are dirty & I hope you reap what you deserve with this nasty tactic!
I know a lot of people like the White... and I wasnt really making this video to convince others not to drink them. I was just expressing my opinion, but humbled that others may follow suit.
@@CaffeineMan1 i know pal.but without you we would be still blind to it,so thankyou for what you do and your content,im on a constent hunt for all the drinks you review
Update: Minor correction to your comment. Monster owns Bang, as titled by this video. Coke entered a distribution agreement with Monster where they agreed to distribute Monster, as well as give Monster all their energy drink brands such as Nos, Full Throttle, Hell and more and Monster gave Coke their juice lines. They work together, one doesnt own the other. 👍👍👍 www.foodnavigator-usa.com/Article/2014/08/14/Coca-Cola-enters-strategic-partnership-with-Monster-Beverage-Corp
yea theyre wild with it. theyve even tried to get Pokemon to change its name in the past cause its original japanese name is Pocket Monsters therefore it has the word monster in it.
No problem. I wanted to get the facts out there to keep everyone informed... but I knew people would ask me what I thought of it all, so I figured Id include it all in one video. Soooo many better drinks out there, so Im with you.
yep, I rarely get Monster, cause they are loaded with sugar, but when they have a 0 sugar drink, if it sounds good, I'd try it. Now I'm done with their company, and will only drink C4, and Ghost, and other brands I can find locally, ie. Bucked up, Mt. Dew Energy, or Rise, or w/e it is now lol.
I don't drink 300 mgs drinks. Its too much caffeine and cuts into my caffeine numbers for the day. I usually drink tea and 1-2 energy drinks spread out throughout the day. If I want to stay close to or under 400mgs, 300 is too much.
Completely understandable! I wouldn’t expect people not to. Just business as usual for most the world. I’m sure this has happened in many other industries as well.
@CaffeineMan1 If the sale goes through will you quit drinking bang because it will be owned by monster.? very curious as to what your answer is on that lol
@CaffeineMan1 same. You would think some of these companies would realize they could sell more product if they lowered the caffeine content because people could have 2 a day at 200mg.
Actually Bang had hired an ex Monster employee and he helped Bang with Monster insider trader information/secrets and I believe that's why Monster went after Bang. Bang owes Pepsi a lot of $ also.
@@CaffeineMan1 I work at Coke and I saw first hand how when Pepsi got Bang distribution how poor it was executed so i saw why Bang ceo panicked. I mean Pepsi let Bang shelves empty for weeks due to poor execution stores where having me fill it with more monsters.
@@CaffeineMan1 In your expert opinion, do you think Bang will ever return to the shelves? The allure of 0 calories and their delicious flavors puts Bang at number one by a mile for me.
Definitely. It’s a great brand that hit the 3rd ranked energy drink in the world. Monster wants to cash in on that to be able to overtake Red Bulls #1 spot.
Well, I didn't drink Reign to begin with because of the 300mgs of caffeine. They do have great flavors, but yeah, its part of the same company. Monster also owns about 19 other companies like Nos and Full Throttle, but I don't usually drink those either.
Taking monster out of the picture the CEO of BANG was a slimeball. He tried breaking his distributor contract, got sued and lost! Tried naming one of his flavors Purple Rain, got sued and lost. Yes Prince owns the copyright to Purple Rain. There is more to this list.
Bang threw every dollar they could find or borrow into the ring, with hopes they would take over the market. They gambled hard, and got burnt hard in the end.
I noticed you didn’t mention anything as to why bang was sued in the first place. I’d be curious to know your thoughts on bang lying to their customers about super creatine.
Yeah he’s talked about the Suoer Creatine litigation. I get that but in the end, Monster is trying to buy the same company they sued. Seems contradictory to me lol
@@cbrogold4603 I agree but taking morals and everything else out of the equation, it makes sense business wise. I’m not saying I agree with it but it would mean less competition for them.
I have actually been following this case and reading their case files on stretto . JO has nobody to blame but himself . A year ago DP offered him over $2BN to buy the company and he declined bcuz in his delusional mind he told the media that his company is worth $11BN. Fast forward a year later , they are no longer even a 1Bn company they have lost around 50% of their sales revenue this is all in the case files . Not to mention JO screwed over hundreds of retailers and Distribtor Patrners some who never got paid . 2018-2020 in the case files it showed the he rtook over $110M in salary . Also he is being in estimated for possible money laundering . It doesn’t end there his own board fired him because they said he wasn’t making rational decisions for the company I mean that’s pretty obvious
I remember drinking 2 bangs in one day feeling like a badboy. Still love bang and all energy drinks the variety of brands hate that monster trying to do this
excellent video caffeineman! literally i spend double, if not more than double of how much Monster costs to buy American imported energy drinks. like, i hardly buy monster!
I've always loved Monster, obviously just for the caffeine boost and flavors since the formula ain't all that, lol. But I've never agreed with their corporate side or business tactics, it is just wrong. I'm gonna still drink monster since they are the most convenient (like red bull, rockstsr ect.) cheaper, taste and also since my store doesn't carry c4 or ghost or any of those brands.
I have never been a huge fan of Monster drinks in general. I do like the Reign drinks which I think have been pretty good and the only other Monster drinks I will drink if I do, are the Monster Ultra but that's not too often. Yeah, I think what they are doing to Bang and to go after them when they are at their lowest point even after being sued by Monster is pretty shady by them to do. I have to agree for the most part with what you said in this video, but I do believe Bang is a little at fault for some of the stuff they did and misleading people a bit with their labeling and what they put on the cans. Thanks for making this video and informing us on what is really going on here and giving us your thoughts on this.
Yes, I did definitely glance over some of the mistakes Bang made, but I mostly talked about that in previous videos so I didn't want to repeat myself. I wanted to stay focused on one topic. We know Bang was sued for what it did wrong. Thats sort of in the past now. NOW, that everything settling down and Bang is about to be auctioned off... Monster comes in to buy them! Thats what its really all about. That other stuff is in the past.
