We only have one week left in the 35 Days Of Halloween here on Living History's Mysteries and the videos keep going.
Welcome to today's release, The True Legend Behind Ghost Riders In The Sky .
In 1949 a haunting ballad hit the radio in America, written & sang by Stan Jones, it told the story of a lone cowboy being warned to "change his evil ways", but is there any truth to the story and if so, what is The True Legend Behind Ghost Riders In The Sky ?
Stan Jones was quoted saying, "An old cowboy friend told him that story when he was 12 years old" and that story resonated in Jones until he finally wrote the haunting ballad.
The True Legend Behind Ghost Riders In The Sky looks at the legend behind the song which has been recorded and released over 50 times by over 50 different artists in almost 75 years.
Stick with us we look at The True Legend Behind Ghost Riders In The Sky and as always, we hope you're enjoying the 35 Days Of Halloween.

Love the old West. I've lived in Tucson, Arizona, also I. Benson az , been to some great old ghost towns with only a caretaker and some with no one. My kids learned a lot of the old West history by traveling in our jeep grand Cherokee. We had them research each area, this was before the internet, lol and do reports on them. We now live in New Mexico and are still exploring old towns and metal detecting the wagon train trails. Thank you for the awesome video.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were the original Ghost Riders. One person's creepy is another person's AWESOME.

Little known fact: The Doors wrote "Riders in the sky" as a direct result of this song. They were jamming to it in the rehearsal room, and Jim Morrison said: "I have lyrics to this song". He had written the lyrics prior to the jam. They started creating something new and similar from there on. It became "Riders on the storm".

I loved listening and reading this. So very sad, but so True. Thus the Legend became a 🎵 song, and since 1948, this song written by Stan Jones, is still Popular. So many wonderful Singers have Recorded this song, Tom Jones, Elvis. Wayne Newton, maybe. He's got the voice for it. I love the Fact that UTUBE has so many videos of Different Singers, singing this song. They are all great. There one line in the song, from my Softcover Book about the "Life of Stan Jones," from Amazon, 5 years ago, that most singers leave out. In the book The lyrics of the song, line 8 "The Ghost Herd in the Sky" Frankie Laines verson has kept that one line in the Song. Very few have included it in their Recordings. But If you have "Ghost Riders in The Sky," then they are chasing "The Ghost Herd!" IF i was a Singer, i would record this with that lyric line in the song. When i Googled "Ghost Riders" Stan Jones Lyrics, that one line isnt on that. But it is in the Book about Stan Jones. FYI. 😊😊

@@LivingHistorysMysteries😮 3:27 I'm an OTR driver,I hauled cattle for my job.One night I needed to catch a nap and at the time I didn't know the story. I pulled off to the side of the road just outside Crosbyton. As I lay there trying to sleep,I had an eerie feeling come about me.I couldn't explain it then NOR can I explain it now. But I couldn't sleep and I was kind of spooked,I got up and left and drove further down the road
