To be honest this is one of the best commercials I've seen, I love how it is like documentary trailer. So much character!

Checked the product prices and was curious to know how much you paid the herders for that much cashmere? Also, mass manufacture of cashmere using factories defeats the purpose of sustainable cashmere. Mongolian cashmere has been hit by an epidemic of scarcity of natural resources and sheep that are overbred. The quality has suffered. This is just another fast fashion brand with not so fast fashion prices. This is certainly not the best cashmere because it hits machines and that’s when you break the delicate fiber. Purest, sustainable cashmere can only be handwoven (under 15 microns). Nadaam doesn’t say anything about the microns (the way cashmere quality is measured). Very well scripted and nicely shot video to give it the grassroots feel!!

I stopped and looked this ad up because it was so interesting. I like how much they went into detail on the various industries involved in producing their sweaters; by helping me understand how the process works, I end up trusting the company more. So, thanks for teaching me about cashmere, how it's made, and how much it should cost!

This ad and the newer one that came with a Terance McKenna talk-"The Secret"-are better than most documentaries! The noble ideas, plans, efforts and successful execution of bringing into existence Naadam Co is nothing short of inspiring, including ecological and spiritual dimensions.

I have never been able to afford a cashmere sweater and I thought if I ever get rich will I still buy such an expensive sweater?? This is awesome!! I will definitely now buy one but from you guys. THis is such a cool story (wheter its an ad or not) but I love that youre giving the farmers what they deserve. I just looked at your website and I love that I can make smaller payments over months to pay for it too. You guys rock! Im going to buy one as a gift too. Thanks for existing!! :) Beautiful herders.

A part from the high quality of this video I really love the idea behind the project. After my trip in 2010, I've always felt a special connection with Mongolia so seeing the landscape/ghers/people and goats really brought me back. I really do hope that as many Mongolians as possible benefit from @Naadam

This is just a way of advertising. Even if they cut off the "tradition cashmere dealers", they still need to hire their knowledge for grading the raw wools and purifications and woven. Knitting is only a very small part of the whole chain. Beside, if they did cut off the dealers, they are taking over local dears' jobs and incomes to their US partners, which is even a bit against the ethics they are referring to.

I bought a scarf/throw sight-unseen on the basis of another one of their brilliant ads. (Shorter and funnier than this one.) I decided: "This ad is so good that I'm going to risk it." And guess what? I love my Naadam scarf SO MUCH!!! I've never had anything like it. Soft, luxurious... it feels so nice, and it's beautiful. I get many compliments on it. Go Naadam! (P.S. The scarf cost a lot more than their "affordable $75 sweater," but it's worth it.

There are many factories and brands that produce Mongolian cashmere products and they apply the same steps on herds as well. They do not have this dramatic commercial because those factories are owned by Mongolians who will not act like Americans that they discovered how to support their own culture. They have been supporting herds from the beginning and applying the same thing :). Americans are great story tellers and make people believe that THEY discovered fine ways to everyone even though it existed before :) Never mind pure cashmere product you can buy from all kinds of Mongolian brands which are Gabi, ANNA cashmere, Altai cashmere, Blue sky cashmere, Goyol, Michel amazonka, Rinchin yesui etc

@Princessbubblegum567
@Princessbubblegum567 3 года назад
My aunt is a felt fashion designer in Mongolia. The way they harvest is very ethical, they hand brush them. Everything is hand made. It’s a bit of a slow and costly process just because you have to raise a lot of lambs and keep them in great health condition and life for good quality. As far as I’ve seen, Mongolians respect animals and believe in preserving natural life and lives of the animals, nothing like the western meat/animal industry. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited my aunt’s company with her. I even got to hold few baby lambs and they’re the most ADORABLE little things I wanted to take them home with me.

This is a great commercial. I came from China part of Mongolia and have some knowledge of the wool business. Still I do not understand is if you cut off the tradition cashmere dealers, who is going to grade the raw wool, do purification and woven? Clothing manufactures do not have these expertises for sure. Knitting is only a very small proportion of the total works. Even if you do not use cashmere dealers, you probably still need to hire their knowledge.
