The Truly Great
BY STEPHEN SPENDER
#TheTrulyGreatPoem #PoemSummary #PoemSummaryHindi
I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul’s history
Through corridors of light, where the hours are suns,
Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.
What is precious, is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
With noise and fog, the flowering of the spirit.
Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields,
See how these names are fêted by the waving grass
And by the streamers of white cloud
And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life,
Who wore at their hearts the fire’s centre.
Born of the sun, they travelled a short while toward the sun
And left the vivid air signed with their honour. Channel Keyword:

"The Truly Great" by Stephen Spender talks about really special people who were exceptional in their own way. The poem explains how these individuals were not just famous or accomplished, but they had something deeper inside them that made them truly great. Let's break it down line by line in simpler terms: "I think continually of those who were truly great." The poet always thinks about people who were genuinely remarkable. "Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history." These special people seemed to have a strong connection to their inner selves from the time they were born. "Through corridors of light where the hours are suns, Endless and singing." They lived in a world of brightness and joy, where time seemed infinite. "Whose lovely ambition Was that their lips, still touched with fire, Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song." They wished for their words to express deep spiritual feelings through beautiful songs or poetry. "And who hoarded from the Spring branches The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms." They cherished and collected moments of inspiration and desire like flowers falling from trees in spring. "What is precious is never to forget The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth." True value lies in remembering the joy and energy that connects us to a timeless source before our existence. "Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light Nor its grave evening demand for love." They appreciated the simple happiness of morning light and the deep need for love in the evening. "Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother With noise and fog, the flowering of the spirit." They never let life's distractions stifle their creativity and inner growth. "Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields, See how these names are feted by the waving grass And by the streamers of white cloud And whispers of wind in the listening sky." Nature itself celebrates and honors these exceptional individuals. "The names of those who in their lives fought for life, Who wore at their hearts the fire's center." They were people who passionately fought for what they believed in and carried intense emotions deep within. "Born of the sun, they traveled a short while towards the sun And left the vivid air signed with their honor." These extraordinary people, born from greatness, journeyed briefly in their lifetime and left a lasting mark of honor in the world. In essence, "The Truly Great" praises individuals who possessed something special within them that made them stand out, appreciate life, and leave a meaningful impact on the world.
