Morgan definitely displayed "courage under fire"; I can't say that many people could have kept their wits about them and live to tell the tale. Definitely explains that "steel wrapped in a beautiful blonde cloud" attitude she has always displayed. Thanks for sharing.
Lettice Rowbotham is the world's biggest sweetheart. If I describe her killer sense of humor and her great personality, you'll think she's obese and ugly. She's neither. Far from it.
^^^@Action Jackson Brown .. No she wasn't maybe a bit, Barbara Eden- Samantha "Bewitched" Barbara Feldon and Reese Witherspoon "Would Blow" her off the face of the Freaking Planet Ha!!! :P] .v (Nmcfmamf) ..
When I first moved to LA I loved on Palm Ave in West Hollywood. There was an Orange Julius at the end of the street next to a car wash. Passing by on my daily jog I saw a beautiful blonde sitting at the Orange Julius and the closer I got realized it was Morgan Fairchild. I had been a fan for years so I purchased a soda and sat at the table across from here. Such an absolute beautiful lady. Realizing I was star struck and staring at her she smiled and said " Hello". I managed to say Hello Ms. Fairchild how are you today. She kinda giggled and said "I'm doing great if this car wash will ever finish with my car." I proceeded to tell her I was a fan and that I loved her in Falmingo Road and The Seduction. She thanked me and continued with our conversation. Shortly after the car wash guy pulled her car around. She got up and ripped the young man and said to me "pleasure meeting you, thanks for your support." I proceeded to get up and started walking up Palm Ave to my apartment when a car horn blower behind me. It was Ms. Fairchild she had autographed an 8 x10 photo and gave it to me. I have never forgotten that day. Such a very nice lady! I still have that photo too!
I think the number one rule in being a metropolis or megopolis cabbie is to mind your own business cause if you don't chances are you could wind up dead.
I briefly met Morgan when I was a kid and she was filming Flamingo Road in my hometown. She was so kind and gracious. I have been in love with her ever since. ❤️
Wow! Happy wasn't hurt! And she learned how strong she can be! BLESS HER HEART!! Thank you for this video, teaching us we can be strong when we need to be! ❤️
I remember she rocked my boat in " The Seduction " which eerily foreshadowed stalking. She was lucky to survive a kidnapping that probably served her well in " The Seduction " A classic beauty.
@tim conway You used to be funny on the Carol Burnett Show. I loved when you played the old guy. Now you're just an ass. You obviously missed the point of the video. You are the problem in the USA - people on the constant look-out to criticize someone else's good work.
A highly underrated actor, she could play an imposing figure, a damsel in distress or a comedienne so well. I was introduced to her with Paper Dolls by a girlfriend who resembled Ms Fairchild. Good show, great performance. Thank you for sharing!
My introduction to Morgan Fairchild was in 1976, her first episode of the CBS radio mystery theater entitled The Infernal Triangle. she subsequently did several other episodes that same year and years after.
“If you were an avid TV watcher in the 70’s and 80’s...” Who me? I remember her as the lie Jon Lovitz’s character on SNL, Tommy Flanagan would tell, “That’s right, I’m dating Morgan Fairchild. That’s the ticket!” I believe she may have even shown up for one sketch. Remember her mostly for Happy Days and her guest appearances on various early 80’s TV shows.
Morgan is an Icon in my opinion, showed up everywhere and was always accepted and enjoyed. I always loved any any roll she played. People loved seeing her. I hope she has or will get a star. One of my alltime favs. Love Morgan. 👍
Great video Dave! As a matter of fact as a kid while staying at my Grandparents house in the summer my grandmother watched Search for Tomorrow. THAT was where I first laid eyes on Morgan Fairchild. I remember thinking at the time that she practically glowed she was so beautiful. It almost hurt to look at her. Good memories. Thanks👍
Wow!! That must have been so terrifying for her!!! She was so brave...like you, I’m so glad no harm came to her...probably made her stronger & helped her survive the “dangers & pitfalls” of the entertainment industry! Once again, thank you for another informative video!!
Hi dave another great story from you Morgan is a beautiful lady and very courageous indeed so thankful she kept her cool during that terrible ordeal she's a great actress I miss the 80s it was a great erra for us things seemed so simple back then thank you for another great story you are so awesome dave
Incredible story of Morgan Fairchild, Dave! Had never heard this before. Glad she survived the ordeal (and, obviously, came out the other side, a stronger woman). Pee Wee's Big Adventure is a marvelous movie! Enjoyed Fairchild and Brolin's cameos in it. "Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya!"
That takes serious inner strength. Many people could easily not come back from that. Much like you, being a teen boy while she was on the top, she definitely had my attention.
I once had the first issue (it was also the only issue) of a magazine whose premise was to be about just one woman. It was called one woman. Seriously. Morgan Fairchild was the one woman in that first and only issue.
Sorry to hear she went through such a terrifying experience. She sure had guts! Yes she was all over the small screen in those days. I loved watching her on a Friends! Thanks Dave for another great video!
Wow! What a bizarre and frightening ordeal that cab ride must have been. I'd not heard that story, I'm glad that Morgan kept her composure and got out if it unharmed. I hope that you and your family are well , Dave. Respect and Blessings from WV. 🙏
Hot and can melt ice with her eyes. There is so many things we don't know about her she keeps her private life well guarded. That's fine and hard to do but she does it. Thanks dave
Dave I always enjoy your videos on RU-vid. I've never heard about that terribly frightening experience Morgan Fairchild had before. I noticed while watching there is the photo of her and Bruce Boxleiitner. He has been a favourite actor of mine since childhood. Since then I've always called him BB! I'm unsure if you already made a RU-vid video about him but if not I wish that you would!
I am so glad you believe Ms. Fairchild's pinnacle acting role was in "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" . . . I happen to agree! And, that is Mr. Barbra Streisand himself - James Brolin - portraying the main character "PW" in that movie-within-a-movie.
Beautiful lady. I remember her on Mork&Mindy where she played the snooty upper crust type she played so well almost unapproachable. It was her birthday or Christmas but Mork's 1st opportunity to give gifts he picked and he presented a puzzled Morgan F. with a saucer that was gift wrapped. Upon opening it she puzzled to Mork. why would you give me this? To which Mork replied, "Mindy said you would appreciate something shallow!" This was 1 of my most memorable lines from the show.
She was Jenna Wade in Dallas, also in Falcon Crest and several TV movies. Famous way before Pee Wee Big Adventure, which actually helped her career take a nose dive.
Thanks for another interesting and nostalgic video. That's a terrifying story! I'm glad you mentioned Search for Tomorrow. It was the one soap opera that my mom watched, and one summer when I was 10 or 11, I watched it with her, mainly because there was a storyline in which Morgan Fairchild had some kind of split personality. Her evil self was murdering people. It was typical soap nonsense but it kept my interest, and thereafter whenever I saw Morgan FairchildI remembered her from Search for Tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing your memories, clavius65! For a brief period of time, I watched Dark Shadows with my mother. Even though it was just watching TV together, those were great memories. Thanks again for sharing yours.
I remember her mostly from the original Initiation of Sarah movie, but also, the nitetime soaps. I loved her. She was my favorite. And The Seduction movie was a good oldie, too. She was always strong and beautiful in any role.
@@jdsundstrom too bad it's not on DVD. I liked it, and although I was never a fan of the prime time serials like Dynasty and Falcon Crest, I loved Flaming Road because it had a lot of interesting characters. I didn't discover until years later that it was actually based on in original movie from the 40s with Joan Crawford and Sydney Greenstreet which is one of my favorite movies however the character of field Carlisle was a much weaker character in the movie then in the miniseries.
I loved watching Flamingo Road, even though I wasn't a big fan of prime-time soaps, just liked that whole "person from the wrong side of tracks" trying to rise up the ranks in her town. I've seen the trailer for the movie and would love to see it sometime.
She is just gorgeous❣️❣️❣️ ‼️Wow she is gorgeous inside as well‼️ The world can be terrifying at times but you have to live in it and find your own way just as she has done‼️Girl power 💪all the way‼️Thank you Dave you’re a doll❣️❣️❣️❣️‼️You and yours have a great one ‼️💪
Dave, I don't think there was a single soul in America back then, who didn't know the name Morgan Fairchild. Dare I say, iconic? She was even a running Tommy Flanagan gag on SNL with a line that caught fire with kids who never heard of her, but loved to repeat the line: "...my girlfrienddd...Morgan Faaairchiiild", coined by Jon Lovitz. She was truly a well known star for a good 10 years and as you've described, had a long and successful career. Beauty isn't her only attribute. She has wit, charm and intelligence. On a side note, I was thinking about one of your videos recently and for some reason, I was reminded of the Unknown Comic. I'll never forget the moment I figured out his identity. As a kid, i was always good at IDing people by their voices and when I saw Murray Langston on the short lived afternoon variety show, 'Everyday', it hit me that Murray was the Unknown Comic. I'd love for you to do a video on him and even on afternoon variety shows. I really liked Everyday and would watch it...everyday. I still remember making my sister mad by saying: "I know who's voice that is." i can't remember how many times I did it, but the two that stand out the most was ML/UC and Charlie (Charlie's Angels)/John Forsythe. She would be furious at me. LOL! Another person I'd love to know about is one of the hosts of Everyday, Stephanie Edwards. She had a pretty good run back in the 70s.
thanks for sharing this video on her, had u ever talk about of the nicest neighbor in the world name Mr Rogers, My brother met him at children hospital
She is one of the most beautiful women ever! Her name alone is beautiful and magical. She even appeared in an episode of the 1985 miniseries North And South Book II.
I think the 1st thing I saw her in was one of those hokey TV specials! You know... generally hosted by Bob Hope! What a strong person! Didn't realize til now HOW strong!
I started following Morgan Fairchild ( Patsy McClenny) when she played Jennifer Pace on Search for Tomorrow soap opera......before she was famous......
I love Morgan Fairchild. You can just tell that she’s not only beautiful and talented but genuine. I always felt she should have climbed to even greater heights. She was the first Jena Wade on Dallas, but when the role was recast, she wasn’t available to take up the part again. It famously went to Priscilla Beaulieu Presley. She headlined Flamingo Road and Paper Dolls, but both of those nighttime soaps received poor ratings ,basically bombed and were cancelled in short order. Perhaps her most successful Primetime soap appearance was on the 5th season of Falcon Crest, where she portrayed an attorney dealing with multiple personalities. She lasted an entire season. I hoped she’d return for another, and while her character, Jordan Roberts, survived the earthquake, she was last seen on the highway, having been abducted by Maggie’s stalker. I guess we’ll never know what happened to her. She was also great on Cybil.
Very good video. Dave, have you considered one of these on David Naughton, star of "Makin It"? Great show, and his brother was in Planet of the Apes (I know you like that show). Thanks for the great videos.
My mother was a big fan of Search for Tomorrow, so that's where I first remember seeing her. As I recall, I think her character was a villain. I remember at one point, her character fell through a glass door and and was left with a large scar on her face, so for a while, she played the role with her hair covering one side of her face.
We can sometimes do wonders under extreme stress - can’t believe they drove around in a taxi for hours had to be a hefty tab even for the ‘70’s glad they had a change of heart and released her 🙏🏻❤️
Wow! Never heard this story... My favorite role for her was Chandler's mom on Friends. She was older but while still "sexy" she seemed like more real person/mom who had to admit that her "wild days" embarrassed her son now.
Oh man.....Morgan Faiirchild! A week wouldn't go by, it seems, during the late 70's and 80's without seeing her on TV or a made for TV film, and then there were movies. I was not aware of her abduction! :-O Glad nothing bad happened to her.
Wow, I didn't know all of this. Thanks Dave. I remember how everyone wanted to look like her as a kid.I think my earliest memory of her is on Dallas. She was Jenna Wade before Priscilla Presley.I always enjoy Morgan when she is on a show, she defiantly brightens up the script it seems. I think she is one of those actors/actresses that is put on a show to increase ratings. She is one of those people who have that ability.
I certainly remember her from the 70's and 80's. Until she made it big in the Movies. It's a miracle that in that cab nothing happened to her. By being strong she fought psychologically because attackers prey only on the vulnerable. They recognized she was a strong woman & perhaps they felt threatened and intimidated. They might've felt if something went down she could identify them. Perhaps they weren't that violent and probably serving time in prison might've gone through their minds. Perhaps that ordeal gave a new perspective on how she'd see things after that. When she appeared in movies you could tell she'd have a strong personality.
@@jdsundstrom yeah I love all the classic movies good old times thank you for your comment and have a great day I'm going to go watch me some Mama's Family I love that show
On Search for Tomorrow, she played a villainess Jennifer Pace Phillips. One of her known scenes on Search in 1975 when she fell through a glass window after arguing with her husband. Her character ended on Search when she was committed to a mental institution after she shot and killed the wife of the husband that she had an affair with.
I remember that scene, if my memory serves me correct the morning line up in the summer of 1973 was Price is Right, Joker's Wild, 10,000 dollar pyramid, The Young and the Restless and then Search for Tomorrow. I might be off a little!
Pee Wee's Big Adventure, one the greatest nerd movies of all time, and personal favorite of mine. Watched it a million times in the 80's with my kids. Ok, I'll say it......….Tequila......does the music automatically pop in your head? lol
if you were skeptical like me - you'd search for confirmation - well - she tells the story herself - the video is available on youtube - search for "morgan fairchild's near death experience"
Not really something anyone wants to think about. But those two guys likely ended up targeting another young woman. One who likely didn't survive the encounter.
@@jdsundstrom Any one that grew up in the 80's knew who she was! She may have not been a Joan Collins or Victoria Principal, but she made so many television appearances that she was a household name.
Morgan's first acting job was as a double for Faye Dunaway during filming for the film Bonnie and Clyde in 1967 particularly in scenes where Bonnie is supposed to be driving a car, because Dunaway couldn’t drive a stick shift....She is 69 years old...
Of course she was a true beauty, but what stood-out most about her was her ability to truly become any character they asked her to become. Her appearances as "Chandler Bing's" mother will always remain in my mind as her finest hour as an actress. After all, they wanted her to be not only the mother of one of the finest characters on "Friends" but also funny, sexy and asked her to preform a transformation from a thoughtless. self absorbed parent to a caring and loving mother who tried to change her ways for her only child; it was truly touching. In between that she had to do that confusing (for the characters) and semi-erotic scene with David Schwimmer and she did them all perfectly, she NAILED THEM! I've never heard of that Baby Boomer show, wish I had seen it because... as everyone on earth is aware, we Baby Boomers are THE BEST lol. BTW., Dave Sundstrom, you just keep getting better and better, your abilities as a presenter/announcer are flawless, you give each video a happy light feeling, and let's face it, some of us Boomers are going through some difficult times in our Golden Years and need all the help we can get! You represent not just the subjects of your videos with class, knowing what to say and what not to say, you represent our generation so very well too. As long as my ticker keeps ticking I will be a fan of your program... who knows, maybe they have RU-vid in Heaven and I can watch from there lol.
@@jdsundstrom Mr Dave, ("Super Dave"? lol remember him?) You EARNED my praise. There aren't many Boomer focused RU-vid channels, let alone quality ones (that I have found anyway) You, obviously are one of the finest. You seem to genuinely enjoy your work, (or should I have used a different word than "work" there?) Please bear with me here as I really want to explain to you just why you and your Baby Boomer centered channel are so important, not only to myself, but I am sure to many others: When I was a little boneheaded kid, back in the '60's I was diagnosed with two diseases, (it's not really important what they are); as the doctors explained to me: I would live a "fairly normal childhood, and should be able to do almost as much as the normal children", (and I did too! I even pushed myself to play on the high school football team, 1st string thank you VM!! brag... brag... lol) Although they warned me that, "You had better face the fact that this isn't going to get better, it will only grow progressively worse as you age." By golly they were right too! 👀 Guess I shouldn't have aged? As the years passed, even the most simple tasks became EXTREMELY PAINFUL and difficult. Which, I am sure that tens-of-thousands of others of our generation are now experiencing similar and much worse health issues as well. Very Long story a bit less long: I was a once an extremely active and hard-working man that tried to live life to it's fullest, (or as we Boomers use to say, "I tore it up!" lol) who is now an old crippled shut-in. Even washing dishes is now akin to climbing Mt. Everest, nude... in the freezing rain.. with Wile E. Coyote mistaking me for the Road Runner... I drop and break most of them, but hey... they are clean when I break them! lol. Even though I have a really nice TV, I don't even bother to turn it on anymore, (can't even recall the last time I used the overpriced thing) as the content they now offer us is both depressing and downright SICK! Anyway, the point of my extended dissertation is that your program, with it's fascinating and entertaining Baby Boomer era content, along with your unique upbeat style mean a great deal to many of us and bring a smile to this old feller, warming me ole heart in the process. I hope my explanation helped you to understand why you, and your channel are so very important to many people. May God Bless you and allow you to continue on for many more years!
