I've sometimes wondered in certain situations, if I too am being filmed for the amusement of others.

As a side note. If ya haven't seen Jim (and Kate Winslet) in 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' it's worth a viewing.

I have, indeed, seen Eternal Sunshine. I loved it and I wish I got my reaction on camera. Thanks for commenting.

Great reaction. I love the little notes you add throughout. A lot of what you point out are things I had never noticed before and I've seen this movie many times. I view this movie as a human tragedy. Truman's life was stolen from him for the entertainment of others, actually for the money made entertaining others with his stolen life. That's cruel and inhuman. In fact, those that watch the show knowing the whole charade are just as cruel and inhuman. I think that's the point, it's the viewers, the ones that sustain the show that are cruelest of them all. Their own entertainment allows them to push aside the fact that they are watching a man forced to live in a zoo. You have to be a sick cruel f*ck to be entertained by that. Unfortunately, there are many more people like that than we like to think. Passive cruelty is insidious and enables active cruelty. I found it a bit twisted for the studio technicians to only start to care about Truman when they thought he was going to be killed. I guess taking his life in every other way was OK but they wanted him literally alive? For what? It makes watching him pound on the wall of his zoo cage all the more heartbreaking. It took a few viewings before I started to see the audience as just as culpable.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I like what you said. "Passive cruelty enables active cruelty." Mind if I use that? Thank you for commenting. Hope you stick around. I've got some great videos coming up.
