This is the most honest, accurate well spoken account of abuse in a relationship because the manipulation is so constant. It sneaks up on you. Hindsight is always 20/20 and YES educating yourself and speaking to others who are not bias but those knowledgeable on personality disorders, abuse and everything that goes into that as well as coparenting with the abusive parent is crucial. You’ve helped a lot of people by making this video, as hard as it was to make.

Shyla...I read the exact same book after my separation from my now ex-husband (with him for 16 years; married to him 14 of those) It was so cathartic and validating and articulated the words I lacked to help even my mother understand--yes, my mother--how bad it was. The book was a massive emotional roller coaster. I had to read the book with someone so I could just vent while reading it. Such a valuable piece for ANYONE trying to escape and survive or whom has escaped and is surviving. God bless you, Hun. You are stronger than you can imagine. Before the book, I was an absolute mess raising 3 daughters by myself. My prayers are with you and baby girl. I know the road is long; but, have faith and pray. You will make it through the mental stuff (which I felt was the worse part for me, especially to prove in there court system and to those whom have never gone through this). Anyway, you got this, beautiful lady! 🔥🔥🔥 For me, during my divorce process, I had some really hard times because he used my girls as his avenue of abuse. I felt like I couldn't cope with this anymore. But, here I am on the other side. My girls are 20, 22, and 24, now and all are doing fantastic. Again, YOU GOT THIS! Much love and prayers. I know you hear this a ton...but, I truly mean it---- I am here for you if you need a kindred spirit to vent out your emotions.

Shyla, I am so proud of you for getting out of that. You deserve happiness. Soul deserves happiness as well as seeing her mom happy and teaching her what not to accept from men. Toxic/abusive relationships are hard and not fun. My ex makes his way back every couple months. It’s finally taken me 5 years to stand up for myself and realize he’s not what I want anymore. I didn’t want to deal with his verbal abuse anymore. Leaving is so hard. So again, I’m proud of you for recognizing what was going on and being able to stick with it. You’ve got this. Landon is literally a child who put his mom forward to deal with the mess he created. A man child who prolly gets all his wishes fulfilled from parents. Shyla is one of the strongest women i know.

When she said “it’s not easy to get a restraining order or everyone would have one” that is 100% true. I was harrrassed for years by an ex boyfriend and they never granted me one because he never explicitly said he would hurt me. This has really resonated with me. She is telling the truth. You can see the evil in landons mother.
