I went to Page, AZ over Memorial Day weekend in 2023. I had a blast! My experience with Antelope Canyon was the complete opposite and I’ll explain why. With me being a photographer, I chose to take the Photographer tour. I paid a little extra for that tour but there was only 5 people including myself in our group. Of the 5 people only 3 of us had DSLR or Mirrorless cameras. The other two used their phones. Our guide was great and helpful. Here is the best part. We were able to spend 3 hours in the canyon! We were allowed to explore and roam and take all the photos we wanted. There were signs posted saying no video recording. We were allowed to bring tripods and our camera bags. It’s so dusty in there that you do NOT want to be changing a lens so I used a wide angle 14mm lens and kept that on the entire time. I was able to capture many breathtaking images (I have a vlog on my channel showing many of my images). If you know how to operate the settings of your camera you will be fine. I took some great photos in there with my iPhone too. You are right about them bringing those big groups in/out. We saw them and yes the guides did sound rude telling the people to keep moving because they had to get the group in and back out so the next group could come through. I will definitely do it again.

My husband and i have done both Upper and Lower Canyon (a year apart). I loved it. Our Navajo guides were great and our tours weren't too busy. (Lower busier than upper but its also easier to get to). We did a private tour at the lower canyon (worth it) and also included lunch (a taco frybread thing) very tasty and special native american tea. To describe the differences, Upper Canyon you walk through at entry level, and the slots are shaped more like an "A", so the base is wider and you can walk the whole thing through. Lower canyon is shaped more like a "V", and you have to navigate many metal staircases down to start, then up at the end to get out of the canyon. Lower canyon is longer, so you get more time in the slots. Truly a most beautiful experience. For less people try midweek if you can.

Glad that you had a better experience! ☺️👏🏼 The place itself is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, but we just had bad luck with our guide/tour… it was midweek and not even the perfect timing for the most beautiful light 🤷🏼‍♀️

We just went to Lower Antelope Canyon with Ken’s tour! And it was beautiful, we had 1 hour down the lower canyon and the guide very kind and help us to take pictures! So we had a better experience than you! I highly recommend having a tour there!

I have heard that post-Covid, many tourist destinations have been quite crowded due to everyone wanting to go out and explore once again.

Could you please let me know what time during the day was your trip in Lower Antelope Canyon?

For those unaware. Antelope Canyon is almost 30 miles long. There are plenty of other options to see the canyon. Each section of the canyon is owned by a different family. With some tours being hours long, one of which is 6 hours.

I am sorry you didn’t have a great time in the Antelope caves. I visited it 7 years ago and it was not bad. The fee was minimum and we took as much as pictures as wanted. I am no photographer, just pint and shoot and my photos came out magnificent.

There is a special tour just for photographers, of course it is even more expensive.

They have an advance permit lottery online but your chances are equally, well, virtually zero in winning a permit. I've applied every month for the last 20 months and haven't won. Many have applied for many years and haven't won a "Wave" permit.

Ihr habt einfach den falschen Anbieter gewählt! Bei lower Antilope Canyon Tours waren Fotos erlaubt und die Gruppen waren sehr klein.
@isabelleandflo
@isabelleandflo Год назад
So schade...

Why is this natural rock formation so restricted to public access ???
@erinclarocca

On tribal land

@@erinclarocca That and people are dummies. Past vandalism has also lead to the restrictions.

Because the tribes know they can profit off of this. So they rip off tourists to look at nature

This is the problem with both of these. One is super expensive, going to be just over three hundred bucks for my family! The other is very difficult to get into, and a long trail, and I think its almost designed that way to push you towards spending money at the other. Disappointing.
@tnt3171

These areas belong to the Tribe so the US Park and Service department has no control over it!

I don't like all these natural wonders the lord left for us to enjoy , having a lottery system or tickets to get in . It only makes more people want to go more when its restricted

Tribal lands, their god doesn’t want the sacred lands ruined by a bunch of outsiders

If you had too many people going, the place would erode and be badly damaged. They have to fund the permit system and lottery process. None of this is free. Somebody has to pay for the infrastructure.
@isabelleandflo
@isabelleandflo Год назад
We understand and we are not against the lottery idea! But we think the people winning the lottery every day already pay enough money to fund the system 🤨😅
