I absolutely love when they explore how powers affect heroes day-to-day experience, especially their body’s physiology. that energy doesn’t just appear out of nowhere.
Being a type-1 diabetic, i totally feel the whole "energy depletion" angle, and it's solution. Though i agree with a vast majority of what you said in this video, the one thing i disagreed with was "in any other universe, his family would've turned him in." As someone who's read almost every issue that's even had Static in it.. main character of otherwise... i don't see it. But I digress. I'm glad he's out of his morose phase of the first few issues. Him being quippy and nerdy makes him finally start to feel like the Static i grew up liking. Keep up the good work, and excellent reviews!
This reminds me back in my hero, when its explained that quirks are like muscles. Over use the muscle and injures follow after. Actually, hotstreak and static fight reminds me deku and Bakugo's fight.
You think Sharon could turn those glucose tablets into gum for Virgil to chew? Not only would it be good for him to just be like chewing it while fighting so he's always energized and can just like constantly be refilling himself, but it would just be mad disrespectful to be fighting an enemy and just chewing gum, blowing bubbles in their face 🤣😆
I love Static and my respect for the Milestone Media fam and Denys Cowan in particular is utmost. Many years from now if this comment is ever discovered by some digital archeologist, know that an ethnic kid from White Plains/NY adored how this character expressed himself over the course of his initial run. To see how this character evolves now is so refreshing and in depth I'm overwhelmed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. #RestInPeaceDwayneMcDuffie #NeverForget
A nice breakdown as always, you and Dopespill are two of my favorite comic break down RU-vidrs. Dope for the feels and you with the Comic Big Brain, looking at the finer details
I’m glad that I came back your one of the best channels. I didn’t know his power had side effects until now. Yeah like Hulk Agents of Smash showed that Hulk is a gamma reactor and had to eat A lot
It's a little disingenuous to say someone's a fake nerd just because they're not aware of every reference in the vastness of nerdom. I mean if every nerd knew everything there was for a nerd to know, channels like yours would serve no purpose. Everyone needs help leveling up their nerdom big brains in some way 🤟🏾🤓
I saw this vid, and man....and I had to ponder if I should respond or not...You lost me when you said the OG versions of Virgil’s family being insignificant compared to their Earth M counterparts. 6:28 They weren’t even close to being “non-characters” Robert had a whole arc dedicated to him, in which he had a heart attack after fending off a Bang Baby attack at his workplace. Alongside Jean and Sharon (who had a minor but significant plot point) Robert also played a pivotal role in the “Louder Than A Bomb” arc, when he had to set Virgil straight saying that anybody who uses terror and violence has the power to oppress.. Jean hooked up Virgil with a job being friends with Rocket’s mother, constantly eggs him on about his growing responsibilities, constantly nurtures her family and flirts with Robert, fends off an attack on their home conducted by Capers Inc. (Run, Jump, and Burn), in order to prevent a kid Bang Baby named Hyacinth from getting snatched in order to be used for a robbery. Even Sharon had a whole issue about her obsession with being a damsel in distress for Static. These characters were showed up frequently in the run and provided significant roles to Virgil’s characters without impeding on his superhero life.
9:45 This interaction was bad for Virgil because he showed that he’s not as level-headed or as sensible as he was originally portrayed to be. Him blowing up Darius’ phone was unnecessary as well.
10:30 Another thing...I understand that Darius is covering the Big Bang, but Virgil inviting him to raid the “Abandoned” Steel Factory confirms my assessment of Earth M’s Virgil being reckless/irresponsible. None of Virgil’s “adventuring party” need to be there. Darius could’ve just texted or handed Virgil the schematics/map of the area, and that’s it-or Virgil could’ve done it himself through intensive research. A non-powered Darius and Richie, as well as a baseball bat wielding Frieda, have no purpose for being there. The fact that Ayala wrote Virgil to do this is just 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
11:35 My main gripe with the “adventuring party” is that..he didn’t NEED one in this circumstance...why Vita have Virgil call them? Then advise them to leave “when things get funky”? Man what!?
12:22 This Hotstreak arc should’ve ended this issue or at least an issue ago...Static has gotten the best of Hotstreak technically 3 times (I count Hotstreak running away after “burning” Virgil’s house down as a “pyrrhic victory” for Virgil) before this issue...
@Blerd without fear... Is there any definitive location established where Dakota City is in the USA? I don't recall a confirmed location outside of the "Midwest".
Don't know why they added this since it's not a thing in the og comics. Way too much hampering Virgil so everyone can be involved with Static for my liking.
I like the cover to this issue.NICE.I do not like the inside art work at all.Is the art drawn on a TABLET??? Lack of backgrounds in a lot of panels, faces of characters are POORLY DRAWN.The artist not interested in using fundamentals???A lot of panels seem muddled. If someone gave me this issue,I'd politely take it after saying-THANK-YOU-then burn it up with several matches. SEMPER-FI.
