The Truth about Can Am Spyder F3 

I ride a 2018 F3 Limited. She's a head-turner for sure. Dollar for dollar, feature for feature, you'll be hard pressed to find another ride that compares to the F3 Limited. What comes standard is Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, forward and rear facing speakers, 4 large hard storage compartments/saddlebags, 1 smaller dash compartment, heated rider and passenger handgrips, floorboards for rider (adjustable) and passenger, cruise control, semi-automatic, reverse gear, reversing cooling fan and a windscreen. It handles corners, bumps in the road, pot holes, railroad tracks, sand, gravel, fallen anything like a boss. Back tire is car sized. First service at 3,000 miles. I ride positioned upright and it's as smooth as my Cadillac SRX. Sure I get flak from the 2 wheel riders from time to time but here's what I don't worry about with my Spyder. It's never randomly fallen over. I've never accidently dropped it. It's never tipped over in a sharp fast corner. I don't have to balance it at long red lights. No lava hot engine heat blowing out on to my right ankle like some bikes/trikes. I don't have to push it/walk it to back it out of anywhere. No kickstand, side or otherwise. No clutch. I don't have to figure out where the friction zone is. I don't have to ride wearing a backpack for those things I'm carrying. If I were to (gasp) break an appendage, develop arthritis, tendonitis, lose muscle strength or any physical ailment the Spyder will carry me through so I wouldn't need to consider giving it up. Can't say that about too many other bikes or trikes out there. What Can Am has done is capture a market that was overlooked - and dare say shunned - by the other guys and their stick-to-it-ness about the aging and outdated belief of the allure and mystique of what the vision of the freedom of riding is. I know this is an old video but I just hit a deer at 55 mph and totaled my Victory Vision. My wife and I are very blessed to walk away from this accident with some road rash and I broke 3 ribs. I rode 45 years with no incident but this spooked me! I’m turning my attention to purchasing a Spyder. Thx for all your reviews!!!!

BRP Cam Am, has Sold over 100,000 Spyders since it's introduction just 10 years ago. I'm sure, there's a lot less Spyder riders injured then motorcycle riders. With the aging biker population (like me) you are going to see more, and more of these on the road. Great alternative to a 2 wheeled bike. The Yamaha Niken with two front wheels really blurs the conversation on whether three wheels is a "bike".

I ride a 2019 Ryker 900. That thing is fun. I’ve always been iffy about the Spyder, especially after riding a friend’s. But after riding the Ryker ... I was hooked. It has a completely different, more sport bike like feel.

Just bought a 2020 so my wife and I can ride together, she has vertigo and she can ride these!!

Spyder are not made or owned by Polaris. They are owned by the Canadian Company "Bombadier Recreational Products," or BRP. Yes Rotax built in Austria but it still belongs to BRP.

Wife wanted one-I figured “why not?” & added it to the stable. Took a ride and was HOOKED. Instantly. So we added ANOTHER to the stable. (HAD to have one!) Best of both worlds now-two wheels when I feel like it, Three wheels when I don’t. No regrets!

My dad has one im 33 and I have a bad back now and I love his im gonna buy a f3 this year I've only ridden dirt bikes never had a road bike his is a 2010 so fun

I grew up ridding all kinds of 2 wheel bikes. iAd a major stroke about 5 years ago that robbed me of my balance. Everything else returned but my balance never returned. This would get me back in the open wind!! Wife and I put thousands of miles on my 1997 Valkyrie so this could be a great Solution to my balance issue! Update got a 2021 F-3S 2 years ago. It’s my 2nd season this year! 2023 Love my Spyder F-3S.

By the definition of the word the Can-am is a motorcycle. It is a tricycle with a motor therefore it IS a motorcycle. The only difference is that it's not a bike but a trike. Simple really.

More people should focus on what it is rather than what it isn't. Looks to me some people in the comments section are insecure about a perceived threat to motorcycles in general. If somebody wants a motorcycle they'll buy a motorcycle, simple as that. If HD made this vehicle (no fear about that, it's not in their capabilities anyway) it would be the best thing ever, it's not, get over it. Lots of Americans probably look down on this fun vehicle as it's made and designed in Europe.

I bought one and I love it!! It’s not about me getting old, and I’ve rode motorcycles for years!!! But in today’s time in the cell phone age idiots are constantly on their cellphones and not paying attention, and this is a much safer way to go plus they look great and are a lot of fun! So for all of you bitching and criticizing people who want them, and voicing your little sideways comments about how it’s not a motorcycle look up the statistics and see who’s getting pealed off of the street more! Shit I saw a buddy of mine who had been riding for years make a simple error and dropped his bike right in front of me while starting to pull of luckily the only that was hurt was his pride! But I bet nobody has dropped a Can am!

My Dad needs one. He struggles with two wheels because of hip issues.

At the 5:00 mark you say it's a Polaris product and that there are Polaris dealers all over the country......but Can-Am is a BRP or Bombardier Recreational Products product or at least it originally was.

I can never decide whether to wave at those things or not. I draw the line at the Slingshot though. Damn things got a freaking steeringwheel!

I don't see them as motorcycles and wouldn't want one, but I can see their usefulness for people that are getting pretty old or for whatever reason have a difficult time with balancing a bike. Better for them to ride a Spyder than not at all. They are more like a bike than the Polaris Slingshot. Those things have a steering wheel, gas pedal, brake pedal, bucket seats, including a passenger seat to the side of the driver. Slingshot is not even remotely a bike, at least the Spyder is closer to just being a reverse trike.

Your dark windshield is hard too hard to see through. Bought a Ryker. Rough riding. Planning on trading for an F-3. I have a Harley Trike , Hate all the foot and clutch rhythm shifting.

Rotax used to make the Buel engines, did not they?

The Rotax engines are used in aircraft. The engines must be reliable for aircraft use. In the United States the engines are certified by the FAA. These engines have proven their reliability.

People say these aren’t motorcycle’s but yet they accept the Yamaha Niken 🤨 make it make sense people. I don’t care, what y’all say, I love both styles.

If only Polaris, could dial down the amount of plastic, look towards a more vintage look, maybe a little ratted out, wire spoke wheels, and a lot more chrome. Right now, they always remind me of a collection of lunch boxes on wheels. Take a leap of faith..

I just don't understand why people would say it's not a motorcycle it's not a car it's not a truck you sit on it like a motorcycle it sounds like a motorcycle it's a bike is it does it have a motor then I guess it's a motorcycle people are ridiculous LOL shaking my head it's just not a street bike or a cruiser but it's a bike

What I really hate is RU-vid videos like this one, that have the voice at a normal level then 30 seconds into the video blow you away and destroy your speakers with "music" that is two or three times (or more) the level of the voice track. After that... I just stop watching.

Don’t judge people on what they ride. Some folks like Harley’s but don’t have $15,000 plus. Others like metric bikes. I’ve ridden (motor) bikes since I was 11. I was injured in the war and was medically retired after 25 years on 100% combat related VA disability. I ride my Spyder because after 35 years of 2 wheeling, it was very difficult for me, i.e. not enjoyable, to ride any longer. Now I can again. I had a buddy come around a curve on his DynaLow, hit an oil slick, and slide into oncoming traffic. He was badly injured, but recovered. However, even though he physically could, after 20 plus years of riding he mentally no longer felt safe on 2 wheels. He got a trike and rides again and enjoys it. After my first tour in Iraq, I came home and bought a new motorcycle to replace my FXR. I got a brand new VROD, cause I thought they were cool regardless of everybody else. My dad told me it wasn’t a real Harley, cause real Harley’s don’t have radiators. My grandpa asked dad if he remembered the Wide Glide he bought back in 88’. Dad said he did. He asked if he remembered what he told him. Dad thought and replied, “You said it wasn’t a real Harley cause real Harleys have kick starts.” Grandpa put out his cigarette and walked back in the house. Dad never said anything after that. I guess my point is, they are all bikes. 2 or 3 wheels, it doesn’t matter. As long as you sit ON them and not IN them, who cares.

What was "the truth"? And, it is a motorcycle. It's not a "bike" as a bike would indicate BIcycle meaning two wheels. "Motorcycle" is a cycle that has a motor. This is a motorcycle. Additionally, I don't think you can turn off traction control on ANY Spyder - not the 2017 and newer as you mentioned in your video. And where in the world did you get that CanAm / BRP is a Polaris product? Nah. Product knowledge matters. I pity anyone who unwittingly buys a motorcycle from you clowns.

Who would want a CanAm Spyder? Think of it like an ATV you can ride on the street, that's pretty much what you're getting.
