►WHAT IS THIS
There are countless accusations that microwave ovens cause a plethora of diseases including cancer. Is this true? In this video, I do the research and present my findings.
I was prompted to make this by a video made by Life Well Lived that spreads misinformation on this subject.
►TIMESTAMPS

3:05 - Why Microwave Operate at 2.45GHz
5:05 - Low Frequency EM
7:17 - Microwave Doors
9:18 - True/False - Diseases Caused by Microwaves
9:56 - Chemical Changes in Food
11:38 - My Opinion & Final Thoughts
►MATH
dp = 2/σ √( ε/µ )
where dp is the depth of penetration in meters
σ is inverse resistivity in mho/meter and is 1.04 for pure water
ε = 80ε0 for water which is 80 times the permittivity of free space, ε0=8.85E-12
µ = µ0 which is the magnetic permittivity of free space, µ0=4πE-7
This equation only works for materials with NO conductivity such as pure water. In reality, there are minerals in water that make it slightly conductive and therefore frequency dependent as per the following equation.
dp = √( 2/( ω*ε*µ ))
where ω = frequency in radians per second
Most things in a microwave follow the second equation.

I've overclocked my brain to 50Hz when I gave myself an electric shock from an old style PC power switch. I now have super powers. Strangely the feeling of 240 volts at 50Hz is quite a pleasant buzzing feeling throughout your body. Luckily my shock went in and out of the same finger so went nowhere near my heart, so wasn't 'that' dangerous. Aaah, I fondly remember our first Radar Range™ (c.1974?). It had a dial, 0-60 seconds, that's it. As soon as you twist the dial off zero, it started. And no turntable (it was a game of "find the modes"). Mom would evacuate the kitchen whenever she turned it on. She had felt an "air leak" from the venting louvers and figured that going into the next room would save us from the radio-active air being expelled. Sitting 3 ft. from a 1960s CRT television for a decade was all good though. Mom was... pretty.

I recall a Soviet microwave manufactured ca. 1986 (don't listen to people who said they were banned, at least 23 models were made between late 70s and 1991), power around 2300W i think due to it being made from repurposed military parts rather than dedicated ones we get in consumer ones these days, weight around 40kg, about 30l of volume. Tended to spark furiously, require a glass of water to be placed alongside whatever you're cooking, burned everything in spots, didn't have a rotary platter, but the emitter sat at the top and did rotate.

Sounds like you're working with some significant power... What I would do is use the wall voltage and a transformer. You could even put a variac before the transformer to bring up the voltage slowly. I could build it from DC with a 555 oscillator. But I would much rather use the aforementioned method ^^^ I was able to find this. You could adjust the design to have it operate at 450V: www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-High-Power-555-flyback-driver/

@marknolte7171

The earliest days of microwaves before microwaves were very well sealed and screened they did actually have a rash of cyst and tumors appear on some peoples hands from using the microwave Sears and a Litton were sued and lost there are cases to a friend of mine but if I recall microwaves were not settled on the 2.45 GHz yet and some of those microwaves may have been in the 8 to 10 GHz range and the technology of sealing the door was not very good also I’ve had one friend killed by servicing a microwave. He was a fat guy and he had the cover off of the microwave and the power was unplugged this was in the early 80s where in the microwaves were quite powerful and his belly touched the top of the high voltage capacitor that had stored a charge.It was unfortunate he worked alone and he was found the next day of cardiac arrest by electrocution both of these examples electrocution and tumors are kind of bad luck during the development of microwave technology we have today.One thing I would not recommend is operating a magnetron outside of a controlled space. On a funny note about 15 years ago. I had a satellite dish at my house to 227 N. Walnut kermit Texas and I decided to make a transmitter out of a microwave using a heat kit Morse code keyboard and a Samsung 600 Watt microwave The satellite dish had about a 35 db gain my signal was more than 2000 W affect radiated power. I was kind of joking but I saw the message if there were any aliens out there I would like to meet them appointed my dish at Orion’s belt. I got divorced and I forgot about my message I sold the house About 10 years after I had sent that message I was poking around on Google earth and I thought I would look for that house it looks like a bomb blew up and exploded the house in 1 billion pieces there’s no end of the story And the people that I Sold the house to of disappeared and never been heard from.Stephen Hawking mentioned that it would be a terribly bad idea to try to invite aliens to come visit just yesterday President Trump created the space force an entirely new branch of the US military you can draw your own conclusions but that’s my experiment was microwaves

pretty sure 2.4ghz isnt high enough to destroy/corrupt cells and cause cancer, because light travels at a much higher frequency. it can however boil you if the power is high enough (thats how lasers burn things) and thats a real health risk, but as you mentioned, microwaves are designed to let very little radiation out.

Please note that the IEEE limits of radiation are a laugh. They only pertain to heating limits (will it physically burn you within short time). The actual studies of microwaves and sickness start are radiation levels many magnitudes lower than IEEE limits. Our bodies are electrical / chemical. Only small potential differences are required to induce neuron activity. And only small amounts of current. I measured the microwave oven with an up to 8 GHz meter and the leakage from even a brand new model was significant at 6 V/m from distance of about 3 to 4 meters away. This was in way into the "red" zone of safety level from the stand point of human health. I was quite surprised by this. I think that the meter used in this video was for 50/60Hz or somewhere in that range because the 8 GHz meter only made any sound for microwaves only (only when microwave was turned on). I will point out that indeed microwaves do effect your health. Number one is lack of concentration and troubles sleeping. Can cause cataracts. Higher power levels can cause many more issues. Microwave weapons (directional antenna(s)) can purposely cause a heart attack (potential difference directly across heart tissue) for the target (military use / and even now within same country use).

I've read in Wikipedia (haha) that microwave ovens is a better way of warming vegetables, because it warms them faster. Also, probably everything that heats up food changes its chemistry. But I think it is yet too fast to create an opinion about em radiation, gmos and such, but as I see, I think studies are showing that they aren't as much dangerous as people thought (they might be better).👍😂😂

Wikipedia is usually an okay source for science mumbo-jumbo. You might be on to something, with all the health hazards out there, microwaves are not the most of our concern. 👍
@maxximumb
@maxximumb 5 лет назад
Yes cooking food alters it's chemistry, that's why it tastes so good. Microwaves do destroy some nutritional content of vegetables, such as vitamins, but boiling does that too and to a greater degree. GMO. Nothing new there, humans have been selectively cross breeding plants and animals for over 12,000 years. That's why we have wheat, rice, corn, maize, cows, sheep, pigs, orange carrots instead of purple ones. All GMO is doing is making the selection for specific genes faster and not having to rely on the luck part of genetic mutation that drives evolution. If genetically modifying things never happened, the human race would still be sat around the fire banging rocks together. Life expectancy would be around 40-50 years and infant mortality would be around 50% and a simple cut or broken bone would likely kill you. Without genetically modifying viruses and bacteria we wouldn't have antibiotics and antiviral drugs. Every new technology has risks, people are allergic to antibiotics, pain medication can kill in large enough doses. Cars killed 37,461 Americans in 2016. Alcohol is responsible for one in every 10 deaths of Americans aged 20 to 64. I could only find one accidental death caused by a microwave oven, when it fell on a guys head. So out of seven billion people microwave ovens have only killed one person (however there have been two murder cases of babies being placed inside a microwave oven). Microwave ovens are one of the safest and most tested things we've ever invented.

the d=1/f is wrong. x-rays have a higher frequency than visible light or microwaves, yet it passes the body just fine.
@BlueprintScience
@BlueprintScience 4 года назад
Matjaž Čeh, to be clear, I said that depth is inversely proportional to frequency, not equal to it. Also, x-rays fall outside of the boundary condition because their uniquely high energies allows them to *partially* transmit through most materials - they are attenuated a lot which is what makes contrast in x-ray images possible. Ionizing radiation plays by its own rules and is not the target of this video. In general, each material has a unique spectrum response (look up spectrometry) but most materials will roughly follow the inverse attenuation as I presented it; it isn’t wrong, but it may be called an “oversimplification” P.S. if x-rays could pass through us, there would be no reason to fear them.

Blueprint, you suggested I watch this video as a response to a comment. Thanks for putting this up. I will again state that idiots are abundant. The law of squares makes for a great protection from electromagnetic radiation. Constant stress, in any form, takes a toll on living organisms. We now live in a world where there is more constant, unnatural EM pollution than ever before in history. Not going to initiate a correlation / causation argument here.... Certain frequencies, of every spectrum have an effect on humans. Some are positive, some negative, and some neutral. When these frequencies are disconchordant with living organisms, and/or exposure to them is excessive, anything from heart attack, to sunburn, to a frown caused by an incorrect note played in a performance of a song can happen. Why can a phone operate from inside a microwave oven (not running lol) with the door shut? While you have an excellent understanding of theory, and are passionate about electron motion, there is a lot that you are yet to learn. I don't mean that as a joust. Using the microwave spectrum, and a pwm, audio signals can be transferred directly into the brain, bypassing the cranial nerve. Hello darkness my old friend, I've come to talk with you again.....the sound of silence. Check out Paul Simon's father. This was in the 1950s. The advancement since then, should you do a little digging, would leave you reeling in the years. Sure, there are alot of lame videos, fear porn, and sensationalism, but, the truth...it's scarier than fiction. Keep on keeping on, and thanks for videos without narration by Roomba.

Asher Chung, I’ve heard suburban legends that they can, but I find it a little unlikely. The antennas can deliver enough power to heat up anything significant. Like all electronics, they generate a little heat which can easily be misinterpreted as the microwaves cooking.

LOL. However, just food for thought. Yes 2 POINT 45 GHz is that water giggling frequency. So at that point we are talking about MICRO WAVES. The mention about 10 Hz is a completely other topic - ULF (Ultra low frequency stuff). Some of the studies for ULF include those working at power plants where there are huge voltages and also high currents (mostly magnetic disturbances). So to laugh at 10 Hz is understandable but at high enough magnetic intensities can be very disturbing to concentration so on. If you resonate at the bodies brain waves (and just above or below what state you would normally be at) then this too can cause discomfort / anxiety / even "presence" in the room feelings.

Take your little microwave emitter and direct it's EMF at close range towards your head or balls while you sleep, give your report in the morning. It's called the Microwave Emitter Mental Challenge. #microwaveemittermentalchallenge

Yo so I think you're a smart dude and you spent most of the video on the mechanics yes those are relatively safe but..... the real problem is what it does to the food and your thumbs Downs should be all thumbs up if thought off because of consumption of the microwave food not the radiation Factor. Birth defects would come from the mother not receiving proper nutrients from nuked food there for the baby be coming deficient during the growing stages of its life. I could go on through your thumbs but I won't. The microwave was developed by the military during the World War II as a weapon of death and that's what it does too good food. So if you put your broccoli in there and you think you're eating healthy you're really eating Zapped crap. Just find alternative uses that you can use your microwave for and you don't have to throw it out. Peace

I said this before to an other comment. the microwave is the vector that carries the energy to the water inside the piece of broccoli thus heating it up and yes prb denaturing some of the vitamins and anti oxidants. derrrrr the heat at the bottom of your pan in flame form is the vector that carries the energy to the water that heats up the broccoli prb denaturing some of the vitamins and anti oxidants.. you dont seem to understand that the microwave is doing the same thing as the heated water under flame. you want vitamins to remain in-tacked in your broccoli? then DONT HEAT IT UP AT ALL IN ANY WAY! microwave or not, eat it raw dude. you blame the microwave with the same ignorant tone that the video does that OP is debunking. eat your veggies raw bro, dont hate on the microwave. Stop using the word "nuke", thats a word you prb stole from you older ill informed parents. my parents say the same word out of ignorance.

Back in the eighties some guy in Pittsburg killed his elderly Aunt for the sizable sum of money he was set to inherit from her should she die. He accomplished this feat by cutting off the EMF shielding door of a microwave oven, yet leaving the circuit completing latch mechanism in place. The radiation traveled through that opening and through the wall into her apartment where was positioned an easy chair she liked to sit in for about an hour a day, like clockwork, a lady of regular habits... few months later she succumbs to cancer. It's mighty unhealthy to have your insides heating up like that, especially everyday and not be so young and resiliant anymore... A microwave oven with the opening side up against the wall and most of the door sawn-off is an odd sight, that a person with an uncooked brain would be likely to investigate, which is what happened. This wicked man was convicted of murder. Look up: Active Denial System, a vehicle mounted solid state microwave weapon that the US military has had since about 2008, I think, that emits a frequency that heats up the skin causing intense burning pain, that people just have to get away from. It's so intense, no on can stand up to it and fight or whatever. Plenty more besides that out there... WIFI is not healthy for you even, btw.

How does microwaves cause cancer it is uv and smaller wavelengths that cause cancer because they have a lot more energy. A microwave will kill in some sort of way but not in the form of cancer.

@@pepelajuandeag1696 Microwaves cause free radical damage, a cause of cancer. Do some research.... In a well known incident, the Soviets were bombarding the US embassy in Moscow with microwave emissions, in effect very slowly cooking the occupants inside, which also happened in the 80s. Most if not all of the people working there reported insomnia, irritation, headache, nausea... and nearly every single one of them died of cancer within a few years of being stationed there in that building and very recently the US embassy in Havana was hit by directed energy weapons and I'm not talking lasers, which have been fielded too, btw, though you're not supposed to know about that... vehicle mounted... Panama. Do some research... this Blueprint guy probably won't kill himself messing around a little bit with magnetrons, I'm not saying that. The actual weapons have a very high pulse rate, a sort of "rate of fire", to use machine gun terminology and they use a lot of electricity to do it. Microwave emitters are available for sale on the dark web, most of them you plug in. If you're getting slow cooked by your fucking cannibal neighbor, you'll know it. Buy an electromagnetic frequency meter and take pics of their electrical meter, invariably they'll have an anomalously high watt usage. Could be an illegal cannabis grow-op... time for a raid.

Interesting. I wasn't able to find the story about the man who murdered his aunt anywhere. But I can believe that a microwave without the door would be a serious health toll to anybody nearby. Somewhere around 9:50 in the video, I make mention that microwaves may cause immune system problems. But I am sure that the EM is too low energy to cause cancer. I've heard about that military EM weapon a few years back. If I remember, it operates differently from a magnetron and at a much higher frequency. It's both cool and terrifying at the same time! ... Just a thought, aluminum foil would make a great defense!

@@johnboymccraken702 I cannot find any press reports regarding the alleged Pittsburgh murder-by-microwave-cancer. I tried a few dozen combinations of keywords of various specificity including searching for each year from 1980 to 1989 and i got nothing. Would you please provide a reference to back up the story. I vaguely remember hearing something of a kind but even back then it lacked evidence that it ever happened, seems like an urban legend. I mean it can pretty much never be proven that in any given incident, something particular gave someone cancer, cancer doesn't appear on command, and for any environment condition, chemical etc. that causes cancer, being subject to enough of it to make cancer likely enough to be effective, you are still more likely to die from immediate toxicity or cell damage. Besides cancer is subject to cell division limits, it can't go from nonexistent (or just single mutated cells) to life-threatening in months, it fundamentally takes years. It doubles the size on a schedule, like say about every couple months for a fast-growing one, so it can go from a tiny little cancer to contaminating your whole body in a year or two, but it probably took about decade to get from a single mutated cell to that tiny little cancer, OK? About the embassy incident in Moscow, the first thing i found was doi: 10.1186/1476-069X-11-85 and NTIA-SP-81-12, according to which people within the radiation zone suffered no adverse health effects. Anyway the magnitude of radiation was lower than our current ambient just from cell phone towers, in the order of magnitude of uW/cm^2. Besides, think about it for a second, what would be the point for Soviets to try to kill embassy workers at all, and in such an absurd way that according to that day's science wouldn't even be guaranteed to work? If people were to die at all, they would be replaced. If Soviets were concerned about espionage, murder would be counterproductive. More likely that they tried backscatter analysis or to power listening devices, or it was even stray radiation from a research facility. Besides, this wasn't even in the 80s, this was in the 60s and 70s. The embassy had been aware of the irradiation, and by late 70s, they made it public knowledge, so in the 80s, the Soviets certainly wouldn't try that again.

Psychics can tell difference between a presence signal only (nobody really there) and a real presences signal - same as a radio channel broadcasting without or with music situation.
