Cohh is one of those streamers along with guys like DrLupo or Gothalion that I've always felt had the right outlook on streaming and had his priorities in order, always remembering family. I not only admire them as streamers, but as human beings. You get the community you cultivate, and the tone he set with his community early on has resulted in one of the most kind, friendly and giving communities on the site. Kudos to you, Cohh for everything you've accomplished and everything you will accomplish in life. Thanks for all the years of great streams and moments. You're a stand-up guy and whether everyone realizes it or not, we're all the better for your efforts and presence.

I didn't find Cohh until late, maybe because I was away from Twitch for several years, but I was bummed that I hadn't found him sooner. Definitely the kind of personality we could use more of.

Cohh appeared to me about 9 years ago via YT at the lowest point in my life. I was fresh outta jail, homeless and expecting to die since I am disabled and couldn't work. I didn't think I was properly disabled until others pointed it out to me and a lawyer vouched for me and won me SSD. CohhCarnage is a major factor in keeping my mentality positive enough for me to move forward in life and I will never be able to repay him for it but I know he wouldn't ask for payment regardless.

Cohh is one of those guys who I only found because he played games I liked and played them somewhat like me. And dropped frames. But he was ALWAYS a person in that space I could look up to. Dude's got a stellar moral compass, great personal values, and is more often than not, positive about any given situation. Been watching him for over 10 years and see no reason to stop anytime soon. Having Laina in his corner was such a huge advantage too. What an amazing, supportive partner. There are a lot of parallels between Day9 and Cohh. And I think there's a lot of the same reasons why they became as successful as they did. Also have to mention. Great interviewer. Really great job. Can tell you really get the material and industry.

Cohh has been a streamer I've watched for 4-5 years now. He brings one of the best communities any platform offers. His moderators are amazing. His explanations on stream and on Twitter are always met with a overwhelmingly positives vibes and level headedness. Cohh gives me something to look forward to and he works his ass off for all of it. I genuinely care a lot for him, his message, and his vision. I can't say enough about how great he is.

Cohh is one of the cases, where he analytically made his success possible. I've watched him since the first episode of DF with ItmeJP, so I got the privilege to witness his massive growth (the turning point for those that don't know was Fallout 4 for him). I am one that does agree luck (especially with the massive amount of streamers in this day an age) plays a part in it. But luck is not the single factor that dictates success. Not many can do what Cohh did. The man even made spreadsheets to help him identify information for how he would progress streaming (stream times, what games, etc). This was how he came to the conclusion of becoming a SFW streamer. In the early era of streaming there were so few of them. Cohh saw the opening from his research, and acted. Also, for anyone who is confused by the weird blonde hair, Cohh died it for a big charity event. He doesnt usually have blonde hair.
@Wardukez
@Wardukez 2 месяца назад
agreed. his viewer counts before and after the early fallout 4 steam have never been the same. And playing all the previous games in the leadup to its release. calculated. deserves all the success. I have to thank Cohh and his I assume close friends aka JP, Zeke, ManvsGame, and Maximilliandood. Without them my relationship with my father would not be as good as it is now. Me and my father would Co-Op play games on the PS1 and PS2 and we played a couple games together on the PS3 but after that our time spent together was minute compared to before. The boost that is still going strong happened when I found Cohh somewhere back in 2013 and I showed him, he was instantly hooked along with me. He always says that a game is great if Cohh is playing it for days on end and it's true. Anytime Cohh has fun with a game we have fun with the game. Thank you from the bottom of both of our hearts Cohh for breathing life into this father son relationship. I strongly hope your children share the passion that you do in whatever they come to love.

It absolutely needs a lot of work, but I do think he downplays the luck factor a bit. Not intentionally of course, it's just that it's hard to see your own luck when you've also worked so hard. Capitalizing on luck is extremely important, but it does tend to make one at least somewhat blind to it's influence. But he definitely deserves all of his success and it's great to see. I love his work.

Elton Cohhnes strikes back! Listen, this man took me out of the darkest point in my life and saved my life LITERALLY. While watching one of his streams back in 2015 after a whole year of sh/ty things happening, i got notified via email, that my (by that time) wife to be, was pregnant with (by that time) my bffs child. I had reached a pinacle of chaos so strong, so massive, that i jumped out the window of my flat 7 floors down between trees and rocks. I hadn't noticed at that time, that i'd had done this with my phone in hand... anyway, all i remember (which isn't much), is going in and out hearing Cohh saying "The ship is down!" "BOOM! neat shot! BOOM!" "We are under attack!", the rest is jiberish. Fastforward 2 months later, i woke up with just a minor leg fracture and pretty much almost recovered at 100%. Talking later with my doctor, he said "thank god" they'd found me "concious". if i had closed my eyes, that would had been it. So yeah, that's my story with this SOAB! He maintained me kinda concious while screaming pirate things while playing Balckwaves/wakes, i don't really remember the name. And then, while seeing him achieving things, spreading love and kindness, got me to rejoin life. So, props to Cohh, and very very nice interview.

20:47 I totally agree that knowing your worth is very helpful but how do you actually do that? I have gotten a few emails myself before asking me if I want to make a sponsored video for a game but they always asked me what my "rate" is and I never had any idea what I should tell them. It's very hard to judge what stuff like that is worth as someone who is new to it, also because other creators almost never openly talk about it. I remember one time iNcontroL told a story on the Pylon Show podcast about some game company that asked him for a sponsored stream and I believe he said they offered him $100 per hour. And when I heard that I thought "wow, he got an amazing offer there". And then iNcontroL said something like "haha, can you believe they thought I would do a sponsored stream for that little?" and I was like "huh??". I think a lot of upcoming creators probably way underestimate what they could ask for. And I also remember some big creators in the past being critical of new creators who agree to work for little money because it drives down the rates for everyone. But how should new creators know any better if most of the established ones aren't transparent? Most people don't have an experienced management team that will sit down with them like they did with Cohh.
@vtxshiva
@vtxshiva 3 месяца назад
Knowing your worth isn't really about the amount, but rather what that amount really means. Money is a number that is compared to another number. If I do X for one hour and get paid Y amount, then my worth is, at least that much. So for a beginner that's not making much money, 100$ might sound awesome for one hour, but for someone that can make 1000$ in that same period, it's literally a waste of time. Not to mention sponsored streams usually come with clauses, obligations, preparations, etc. You could easily spend 5-8 hours preparing for a sponsored stream if you're an established creator since you have to integrate it into your program which means tailoring it or scripting to work for your audience. There's also the matter of the "freelancer" perspective, in that you can't guarantee to have a consistent income every day of the month for months on end, so your hourly rate often tends to be higher as a result to compensate for future fluctuations.

Watching this interview reminded me that one of the reasons I like Cohh so much is because he treats streaming like a job. Like, not in the sense of being corporate or soulless, but in the sense of being professional and intelligent about it. There seems to be a lot of big streamers that come off as chasing gimmicks and sensationalism, but Cohh took the time to build a good thing with good foundations. So I appreciate that when he hits the Twitch news sites, it's not due to a scandal, but because he said something virally funny and/or insightful about gaming or the streaming industry.

This man is suck a fucking inspiration! I remember when I was 8 years old, before even RU-vid, I always said "If I can figure it out, I want to play video games for a living", which of course, was a massively unrealistic joke back then. Fast forward about 10 years, and I find TheRadBrad, which was my spark to start working towards...but then I found Cohh. I actually didn't want to watch him at first, because I wasn't interested in watching someone popular, but every time I came back to the website, this guy was on the front page and I started to think, "This guy must be doing something right." What a great talk with a very well spoken gentleman like Cohh, been watching him for the better part of 6 of those years on and off. At first I thought him too proper and wholesome, but I am close in age with him, and I grew up eventually, and enjoy his talks and game sessions. I will say, if Cohh is checking comments or his team, my only thing is to find another transition when starting a new topic of conversation to branch out to say "it's interesting" a bit less as I found myself counting it during the chat because I kept hearing it funny enough. And that was not being critical in any way I just thought it could be interesting for someone who is very studious in how his career works by the numbers :) Cheers friend, Im often around on twitch :)

Amazing interview, lots to learn from as someone who is fascinated about the business side of gaming (aside from loving playing) and often finds it so hard to find educational content like this, instead what I most find is just your typical PR knowledge or just scraps one can gather from news here and there, we need more of this to better understand the industry and how things actually work, so much is left to interpretation. Cohh explaining exactly why, at the moment, vtubers are huge from the day they start streaming with no prior engagement. Having friends in the field to tell you what works and people who market your stream with merchandise and sponsorships skyrockets your streaming career. When you're on your own without any knowledge about how streaming works you're kind of setting yourself up for failure. I also feel that being 'just a person streaming their favorite game' can be fun, but not if you want to be succesfull.

This is a great take - the vtuber community (from streamer, to artists, to riggers, and management) all help prop each other up. IP/brand creation is so core to each vtubers identity which I would say isn't always the case with most other streamers.

Cohh is a prominent figure.. but for all the right reasons. He is a nice, funny and dedicated guy. He looks like he treats his employees well. Thats what counts.

Its been great to see streamers become more active in game development & publishing. Many of them (not all) seem to be much more grounded in terms of creating a great game and sharing the wealth properly between the devs and the publisher. It has been a very needed influx of funding for indie devs!

Been watching Cohh for so long, love this interview! Earned a sub for sure! Im just wondering if Cohh regretted the timing of dying his hair for the charity goal and this interview, since it seemed like he was pretty over the blond hair pretty soon hahaha.

Cohh's the absolute GOAT. I don't watch many streamers, mainly because of the over the top bravado. Cohh keeps it down to earth you can see he thoroughly enjoys what he does.

I'm 37 seconds in and I already know that the most surprising thing in the entire 47 minute video, is finding out Cohhs real name! It's like a face reveal.
