From her origin in the Animated series up until Flashpoint. Hate pretty much everything beyond that, except for the odd solos, like White Knight, Harleen, and Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity.
I still like Margot as Harley because it really does bring together every side of Harley ever portrayed while staying true to the core of Harley's personality.
I think a lot of people forget what she ended being once fully fleshed out. She shows how smart and manipulative the joker is. He was able to take a smart, rational, psychiatrist break her down utilize her scars and faults to his own benefit. He loves more of the idea of her as a creation of his. While she is mentally and emotionally dependent on him because he fills needs she has for a stable male relationship, the need for love and acceptance of who she is, even though she quite literally changed everything about herself to be with him. She is a cautionary tale. That's why birds of prey is a movie of her liberation, it's not her physically breaking her tie to joker but relieving herself of his emotional and mental hold. People also forget that she is an accomplished gymnast with that being her way to college, much of her fighting is based on gymnastics similar to Batgirl.
A lot of people don’t realize that the Joker and Harley displays classic NPD and BPD relationship examples. It’s a warning not to be in a relationship like this if you were abused as a child and can relate to one of the characters. I have BPD and I have Harleys’ never-ending pleasing for love, little to no empathy for people that are not on my focus, destructive behavior; unsafe driving, sex and personal relationships. My SO’s tend to have NPD; grandiose, attachment issues, criticism, control, manipulation, no empathy. I feel a lot of gratitude for the Batman comics for making me understand why there’s only a type of person that can fulfill my needs and vise versa. I don’t support romanticizing abuse but the sad reality is NPD’s and BPD’s need each other.
You can’t beat the original, the first one is the true story. As time goes by they will always have new writers with their own ideas for the character and say this is the real story. You can’t change someones beginning just to fit your ideals.
yeah ... I too didn't understand the "emancipation" part of the (Birds of Prey) title like ... the Joker rescues her twice in SS & he works all around the movie to save her they forgot to build up the story
True! That's why I couldn't digest watching "Birds of Prey", it doesn't make any sense to me. And guess what? This will be passed to be a part of Harely Quinn's character transformation in SS 2.
I'm honestly not a fan of this pairing. I used to be a little until my sister explained how abusive it is and now it really disturbs me that there are people who think this relationship is ideal and romanticize it. I understand some people are into pain and it turns them on, and that's fine, but only when it's consensual. This relationship is not that, it's straight up abusive. Harley and Ivy for the win!!
That's happen when you date a man that beyond crazy. Not to mention, she's crazy herself. They are for each other! A perfect matchmade in a toxic industrial waste plantation!
I mean it's fiction it's not like Harley Quinn is a real human being actually getting hurt. She's just a fictional character. So I don't really care people are free to ship it, just not practice it in real life.
I remember seeing the abuse from joker, but at that time in my life I was already used to seeing my mom get slapped around by her boyfriends so I thought nothing of it
Yes it soudent be romanticized but their relationship is way more complicated than: abusive and toxic. Yes it’s toxic and yes the Joker is abusive but their relationship is as complex as the Joker himself
Classic Harley is Always the best. I love classic Joker too. My fav is Mark Hamil Joker ♥️ The Batman Animated series is my favorite Harley and Joker Forever ❤️
Harley, without Mr.J is like smores without chocolate. Sorry but Harley has to have some connection to the Joker be it a heart wants what the heart wants or I hate that I love you connection it has to be there.
Of course the original animated Harley Quinn does also get an epilogue in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Without the Joker's influence, she actually goes straight, but ends up with two granddaughters who join the Jokerz, something she greatly disapproves of despite bailing them both out of jail
It is usual anyways for villains to abuse their henchmen. It shows how evil the villain is, to the point that they're willing to abuse even those who serve them. I'm not justifying this specific abuse between Joker and Quinn in any way, but I just want to show you that it's a common trope in fiction.
I'm thinking that is the Injustice universe. Harley has a kid that wants to put Tutu's on cars. It is Joker's kid. Not to be confused with another criminal/villain that has no biological relation to Joker, but then calls herself "Joker's Daughter". Let's not forget that there is more than 1 Joker. In fact, there are 3 existing in the same Earth and universe. No, I'm not talking about Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto from the live action movies. So..... Welcome to DC comics.
In BTAS she has a child (unamed) with the Joker that gives her grand-daughters (that we meet on screen) In Injustice they have a daughter called Lucy In the future of rebirth it's said that they will have a child In White Knight she is pregnant
@@ChaoticButterfly Yep, lots of people view Harley Quinn as a victim in their relationship. For me, I just think Joker and Harley Quinn are two crazy people made for each other.
@@taurusdragon4763 PAUL DINI original writer of the Batman animated series. Creator of Harley Quinn is clearly a JARLEY shipper. And his recent comics proves Mr J clearly cares and loves Harley back... Their relationship was not like "omg my poor Harley, joker always treats her bad and abused her !!!". Harley was always a bad and mad person even before joker. Joker didn't manipulate her at all he knew she was mad like him and they're meant for each other. yes i ship Jarley too,yes im not ashamed of it at all. they look good together and they complete each other in my perspective
In The Batman 2004, Lego Batman video game and movie, Lego justice league Gotham break out, Batman The Brave and the Bold, Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Telltale Batman (in the villain path) they have a healthy relationship.
harley quinn and joker are my favorite batman villians I will never dishonor joker and harley quinn just imagine if joker harley quinn batman and catwoman found out I dishonored them they would be so disappointed
I don’t like the Harley from the 20th , i Like the 21th Harley Match More. 💔✨ And there Relationship from Suicide Squad more because he also has Feelings and very Bad Person has a Good Hearth ❤️ ✨ He loved her and he will always love her ❤️✨
i miss classic Harley written by Paul Dini ... dini knew how she was and the first comic with her were also nice and since new 52 she is destroyed and worst seperated from Joker
@Dylan Sharp em no, her whole character is to be a joker henchman the moment she no longer does her purpose, she has no reason to keep existing, its probably why her popularity took a dive hell, they even found a replacement with Punchline
@Dylan Sharp she has no purpose now she is popular how ? her books are cancelled, her films have failed, she just became a jobber character to make Punchline look even cooler I guess you are right, she exists to be beat up by other characters DC wants to make look cool
and thats why all the things about harley quinn since the new 52 have sucked. quinn is nothing with out the joker, she is meant to be a tragic character, if shes not thinking about the joker then she isn't even a villain anymore and she's not necessary as a character. its also why all the movie versions of her have sucked cause they're built around the 52 version who again is awful.
@Dylan Sharp she never changed her ways. they just remade her to be a crazy monster who was made identically to the joker. he just pushed her into the same vat of acid he was exposed to for virtually not reason. now shes just a crummy knock off of the joker in the new 52. unlike in the original she had enhanced strength, was an Olympian level gymnast, was cause of her friendship with poison ivy was immune to all poison's and toxins, a master of manipulation, and disguise. now the new 52 version is just a joker with pigtails, except not really cause she's less then half as smart as he is. she was an extremely interesting character with massive range in ability and now she got none of that, just a hammer, and bleached white skin. she actually was kind of good before cause she did things for the joker, now she just kills people cause she can.
@Dylan Sharp what doesn't? sorry I wrote a lot and am a bit tired today. if anything though she served as a good cautionary character, in what not to do in a bad relationship.
Abusive but interesting. DC wasn't bought by Disney right ? So why would authors should feel ashamed to portray a toxic romance. Nobody complain when it come to stream Lana's song even if she tells and romanticize her toxic relationship. Also both J and Harley psychotic, why would Harley deserves more sympathy than the Joker? I mean he literally suffered more than her.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: I don't like Harley that much I mean when she was with Joker she had problems and had good characteristics and now she is just some Mary sue that is unstoppable. Even joker had problems and gets defeated. I don't like the new Harley quinn.
Its a mixture of both IMO. The director wanted a female empowering film and DC was having mixed thoughts on the Joker, especially after The Joker with Phoenix was more well received than Letos.
@@taurusdragon4763 he tried to kill her multiple times. He even abandoned her. And he often throw her under the bus. That's not love. Shes just a useful tool. She would do everything for him. And he does find her attractive. So on top of that she's a sexual tool
I am SO heartbroken that Harley and the Joker broke up! They were made for eachother! *Sobs* I mean, sure, the Joker isn't going to be a nice guy, but they didn't have to break up!!! He could have just...come to terms with loving her and done what most abusive husbands do and blow hot and cold. Be super-nice to her to make up for being a complete ass and suchlike... It's so sad.... I hope they get together later. They're so great together...
I think the joker really loved Harley and he just didn’t like the fact that he loved her so he tired to push her away as much as possible so she would leave herself and then when it didn’t work he broke up her with
The cut scene from Batman: Arkham Asylum you got wrong the Joker is talking about what Batman has been up to before he goes to meet him Batman throws Harley into a wall do you not bother to do research?
Noah Stricklin everyone??? You sure?? Because the last time I checked casuals (females) got so amazed by that suicide squad movie they started to make “quotes” on how they wanted a the joker and Harley Quinn relationship
Rose Black 🤨........ I guess you’ve been living under a rock then or you live in coo coo land to actually think EVERYBODY 100% of people knows about Quinn’s and the Jokers relationship history 😒 and plus DON’T SPEAK FOR EVERYONE when you haven’t got the EYES TO SEE HOW crazy females went with these quotes their be putting up the DCEU JOKER and QUINN picture on SOCIAL MEDIA back then 😒 and one more thing the other gibberish you’re saying about “side story” not being “canon” and all... I really DGAF 😒
Oh, I totally ship... at least when she's not being written as a total victim, but someone who occasionally gets her own licks in to the point of cowing the Joker, sometimes, too.
@@odmaster3487 The Joker doesn't really love her. Not in comics, at least, short of the Joker Loves Harley (or was it Harley Loves Joker? I dunno one of those). He tried to kill her when he started to realize he was starting to get feelings for her. He loved her as much as he was capable, for who he was. That said, he's got a new girlfriend.
