In order for the light rackets to not be pushed around (more than they already do) they must be stiff and more head heavy, so you get the recipe for disaster, light, which does not absorb any shock, stiff, which vibrates more, and head heavy, which is not indicated for players with bad techniques like the ones who usually buy the super light rackets. So yeah, those light/team rackets are dangerous for your joints.

I play with a 355 gram racket. Bring on the weight! Once you go heavy, you can never go back. There is no substitute for the feel, comfort, and plow you get from WEIGHT.

Boss, I have a suggestion. Please create a video of suitable racquets for playing doubles. There are so many players in need of this know how. Responsive and maneuverable with the right tension for net play and the right head size with the right balance. Hingis being a small frame girl plays her Yonex like a deadly weapon and very effective. Don't know the specs. Thanks.

One of the best feeling racquets I've ever owned is my first nice racquet, 2014 AeroPro Team. I added a full size grip build-up sleeve and 8 grams of tungsten putty in the buttcap, and 6 inches of 1/4" lead x 4 in the hoop at 9:30 and 2:30. Stability out of this world, extremely maneuverable at 340 grams strung with dampener, good plow through while still able to get great racquet head speed and hit a nasty heavy ball from all over the court. My favorite racquets these days have as little dampening tech as possible, as the only thing you need to save your elbow is weight in the right places and good form. I built up my racquet from 280 grams to about 320 grams unstrung over time, adding almost an ounce and a half of weight to it and made it play better than any heavier retail stick off the shelf or customized that I've tried since.

@2ndAveScents

@@Peter-wp5vb I didn’t get that far. For a 100 sq in racquet, the Aero Pro has low twist weight and that was the first thing I wanted to raise. I could put some at 12 now that I’m used to 340-350g racquets, I might try it in a few weeks once tennis picks back up after the holidays.

I customized my blade v7 18x20 to become more head heavier eventhough the swingweight was already pretty high (I wanted a little bit more twist stability and pop on groundstrokes). Turns out that this modification made the racket a lot more easier on my arm despite the high static and swing weight the racket have now

nice illustration. if heavier the racket it should be the head light to handle it easily .means the balanced at shorter length from handle end .( means center of gravity more closer towards the handle )

Every racket manufacturer does it this way in part because tennis balls are not all that different from each other. So if you have a lighter racket, it is less stable on hard shots, unless you balance it more head heavy, since the ball does not change to suit the racket.

A question: where do manufacturers get off the weight of the racket in the lite versions? Does the head have the same weight as the regular racket and do they take the weight in the throat and handle? I would like to know if the weight of the head is the same as the regular version.
@jerome_morrow

Good information overall for those not well versed in racquet specs. However, should have qualified that the “head heavy” racquets here are still headlight. Even balance is 34.3cm. ie: the “head heavy” racquets demonstrated in this video are simply the least headlight. 33cm balance point is 4 points headlight. Once strung, it becomes around 33.9cm which is still 1pt headlight. Actual head heavy racquets with BP greater than 34.3cm do exist eg: the old Wilson Hammer series.

dear Coach .. I am now 60. Due to the covid pandamic, I can't go out and play golf which led me to starting tennis again (hiatus after maybe after 30 years) with my wife (she's a regular) I am still kinda sensitive as to how a racket feels - which I see not many people do. Many people seem to be able to adapt almost instantly to any racket that gets into their hands - I envy them. in my 20's (80's era), the racket (which I couldn't afford) but has the best overall feel was Rossignol F200. Even that I stopped playing tennis, I was somehow looking for a racket similar to the F200. The closest I got was the Head Ti.S5 - almost perfect - the feel, the visual and of course the balance as how you have pointed out here & etc. I have learnt a lot from your channel ie what specifications of a racket (string tension etc too) would suit as now I don't wanna hit toohard, happy to just float the ball over 😆 btw, from your previous video, I bought one Prince Premier T3 (oversize 115L) am quite happy with it, but later only that I know (from your video)that I might be able to go to maybe 45Ibs in string tension. Sorry for the long comment. Maybe I might just to search for the Ti.S5 before I retire again. Take care and stay safe - from Malaysia. Again tQ very much.

The light, head-heavy racquets are what I call "granny-sticks" where a person with little strength can still play tennis by simply blocking the ball back to keep it in play. Perhaps even a young child just starting to learn how to play could get away with this racquet. But once a player decides to get better and improve, they're going to need a better spec'd racquet otherwise using this type of racquet will almost guarantee getting tennis elbow. If you add on top of that the obsession with technique and copying the pros, they almost universally use head-light heavier racquets, it's going to be impossible to hit similar shots with the kind of control and power with a relaxed arm while mimicking the same technique. The head-heavy racquets simply messes up with the timing.
