Hey Ashika, thanks for this informative video! One point that is still missing in videos across youtube is the impact of this crisis in the short-term, say the next 4-5 months. Specifically I'm talking about the reports of high possibility of power blackouts across the country in the months of Jan/Feb, and the energy crisis in general and how it is impacting / can impact people. I'd love to know your comments on this, since I'll be coming to the UK in January intake for masters.
@AbsolutelyAshika
@AbsolutelyAshika Год назад
Hi Abhishek, there is talk of alternative plans for energy, removing the need for any blackouts. Just yesterday it was reported that Rishi Sunak is on the verge of signing a deal with the US for a gas deal. I haven't bought either a flashlight or stocked up on any candles yet.

@mrmrmrcaf7801 Год назад
@@AbsolutelyAshika You have to stop believing what politicians say on TV, your government can't do anything because it doesn't control the UK energy anymore. Now we are all waiting for the hard winter to raise the prices.The company I work for has 6 large gas ships off the coast of England that are waiting for the prices to increase.Blackouts happen because everybody is waiting.If you want to do something I recommend a diesel generator, it will be very bad in the UK this is just the beginning.UK is too small now, unfortunately the EU has priority.US is already at maximum capacity supplying EU gas and oil and the reserves have drastically decreased, Rishi Sunak told lies.

I moved away from the UK in beginning of 2024 after living there for 10 years to a much poorer country in Europe. I'm surprised to say that I'm doing the same job and end up saving more money at the end of the month compared to when I was in the UK. This is so , because the UK taxes you a lot on everything and the cost of living is absolutely tremendous. The houses are now impossible to buy too ! Tables have turned BIG TIME. UK is not what is used to be, and it has gone downhill extremely quickly. The country has SANK REALLY QUICK ! The only thing left about the UK is it's reputation , that is the true BIAS ! I'm sorry, but it is a terrible place to live unless if you come from a country like Sudan,India,Bangladesh etc etc. and can cope with the low standard of living OR if you are a millionaire (but that is applicable to pretty much anywhere). People aren't writing biased comments about the UK , they are just disappointed to see that a country they have invested in for years and years is now destroyed and will never improve. There is no future for people there and specially for their kids. If British people leave themselves to other countries - then this should tell you there is something really really wrong there ! I urge you to do a thorough research and speak to people that live or have lived there ! Do not take impulsive decision !!! I feel sorry for the people that will make the decision to move there.

Thanks again for your videos. Honestly we have a good life in the U.S. My current company has positions in the UK and, I have spent a few months in the UK as well as lived in Germany for 3+ years. I fell in love with Europe for the: - walkability - history - public transport. When I think of moving I honestly feel guilty. I explore the “what ifs” if I raised my kids here in the U.S. I need a sanity check on if exploring immigration is completely ridiculous based on the reasons I love Europe
@AbsolutelyAshika
@AbsolutelyAshika Год назад
Hi Thomas, I don't blame you. Europe has an allure of its own, which we fell for as well. I can't comment on Germany but I'm sure they'll love the UK. There is a lot to do for young families, schools are safe, public transport to most parts is good. Depending on where you're coming from in the US, the weather may or may not be to your liking, but overall, you'll most likely love it.

But still I can save monthly 5000USD there. And in UK as per my search its 1800 to 2000 GBP/month. Which one will be better? Please reply. Thanks,
@danlockley2752
@danlockley2752 Год назад
Having lived in the UK all my life and being a tax payer here for far too long, I can tell you based on the figures you've given that you're going to be much better off in the Cayman Islands (purely financial). Financially speaking there is no comparison, tax and ni alone will consume over £25k. Rent and utility bills £20-25k+ (depending on where in the city and accommodation type, although you could find a studio/1bed for around 15k incl. bills) not to mention travel costs, food, etc. I'm looking to move out, Cayman is on the list for sure.

Hi Subodh, I have exactly same situation as yours. I also have two kids, and both of us were working in India in good companies with good salary. I also got 5 year visa and have moved to UK recently. My opinion is you should come to UK to experience life here, its very different compared to India. There are pros and cons but its worth experiencing, if you are getting opportunity. But for long long term how good it is can't say, because India is also not bad if you are earning well. In India we get many facilities so easily that we take them for granted, the value of those things can be understood only after coming to UK, and you can experience those yourself, no one can explain those. In terms of children's future we can't say if it was a good decision or not, will know only with time.

@@AbsolutelyAshika I tried to negotiate with a higher salary with that's industry benchmark so it won't move much. Plus some other indicators are worrisome too: 1. Unstable political environment 2. Regular strikes 3. NHS waiting list is at record high (some 7m) 4. Planed/ expected power outages. To a outside person (not in UK) this looks like a sinking ship and not worth it now. If I was younger and unmarried I might have taken this decision for long term career ambitions. The crime rate in the UK is on the rise, pretty much stabbing, robbery now, which is embarrassing, actually. With all this recession coming it will only get worse. A good point to consider.

Mass immigration is an absolute disaster for the British people. Not only is it horrible to be effectively a “foreigner” in one’s own country, the subsequent overpopulation makes so much of general life a misery. Driving for instance. It’s absolutely “normal” now to be stationary when driving on a motorway. In fact I now sometimes choose side-roads instead of a motorway. I can remember a time (I’m old) when people were proud to be British. And you could feel “at home” anywhere. Thats all gone now.

Hi Ashika, my company is located at Central London and they’re ready to provide Visa for me… so will a salary around 50k would be a decent salary. PS: I just watched your video and did my calculation but wanted to drop a msg to and ask. Finally, thanks for taking time and helping us with this needed info. Thanks.

Hi Vishnu, depends on whether you’ll be living alone and whether you’ll be living in London or outside. And thank you for the kind words!

@@AbsolutelyAshika Thanks for the reply Ashika. I'll be alone and mostly be living outside as it's a hybrid mode of work.

Hey there, crime rate?
@roystondsouza5645
@roystondsouza5645 9 месяцев назад
You did just not say " Low Crime rate"!I think the crime rate out in UK specifically in certain counties is extremely high. Right from burglary to stabbing and chain snatching, local junkies are walking in the open and there is no law and control. This country should rename itself as Broke Britain. I think you have been generous enough to speak well of UK. You missed out on the level of hypocrisy in employment where so called diversity is in full swing to promote African candidates as a way of saying sorry to them. Also, did you miss on racism? And finally, the absolutely wasted and useless NHS services.
@antonstephen7934

Is it still low in crime? Because I see the numbers of unemployment increasing twice
@AbsolutelyAshika
@AbsolutelyAshika Год назад
Everything is relative. For someone coming from countries where the crime is much higher than in the UK, yes it is still low. Absolute numbers are bound to rise with increasing populations and increasing unemployment.
