Correction: 4A isn't exclusive to the Raptor. It is 4wd Auto. It stays in rear wheel drive until it senses slippage, and then automatically goes into 4wd. When I first bought the truck the 4A was only available to the 2017 raptor during its launch, so that was when it was first introduced to ford.
This is crazy. I really want a Raptor but I live in The Bay Area and I’ve been struggling with it because I feel like it might be too big. I can’t believe I found this video. Thank you!
I absolutely love the look of the Raptor. I have never owned a pickup truck. I own a 2009 Audi Q7 that has almost 200k miles on it. She’s been really good to me. I’m ready to get a used Raptor but am afraid of the huge investment and so many stories of it been unreliable. Cam phasers, sunroof, brake oil leaks. And then others claiming they have no issues? I’m prequalified and have interest in multiple vehicles but have not pulled the trigger.
Many of the issues appear to be affecting other vehicles as well. In my opinion, the Raptor is designed to withstand rough use, and if driven responsibly, it should last for over 300,000 plus miles. I asked countless people about their Raptor, and everyone said they love it.
Looking into the Raptor. I’m no truck snob so engines don’t matter to me. I know enough on the first Gen 6.2L. Your thoughts on the reliability factor of the V6? Thanks
Great video. Very helpful. I am debating to buy a 2020 raptor with 30,000 miles. My biggest hesitation is the reputation of the problems with the engines and turbo. would you recommend buying a used raptor? thank you for your input.
It’s hard to say. I suggest getting an extended warranty if it’s offered. My truck is about to reach 60,000 miles and has never given me any engine problems. However, I am the type of person who constantly regulates maintenance, such as monitoring all the fluids and rotating tires. I do drive my truck hard, but I make sure to warm it up before. If you’re buying used, I would recommend interviewing the owner and seeing how they maintain their truck.
I'm with you...the stock exhaust sounds good. We're at just over 26K miles on our 19'....drive the heck out of it. It makes some appearances in some of my videos as well. Great review!
okay so 4A means 4wheels drive auto, meaning it figures it out its self or it gives each wheel power when offroad and controls witch tires have traction and witch needs traction, :)
It also means the tires can spin at different speeds so when turning on the road you won’t drag the inside rear tire whereas 4 x4 the tires all go. I like it better in the snow
Kevin Dutile No it doesnt do that. You are discribing a dedicated AWD system. 4A means the truck is in 2 wheel drive most of the time but when it senses a loss of traction in the back tires it will engage 4x4 mode automatically without the need to switch the knob manually like tradditional 4x4 vehicles. Only full time AWD vehicles have tires spinning at different speeds and send power to different tires.
I do, I’m looking at them rn. Maybe at the end of the year. I May however not get the R. Gas is just too much here in California’s. And this current raptor cost me about 61k I has to get it out of state. May end up doing the same when I trade mine in for the 3rd Gen. Great question, thanks for asking.
@@HotshotTekI think it will be a worthy trade in after using the truck for a period time, in that case you are always using a new truck without major mechanical issues .
Yeah condensation in the exhaust is common and certainly depends on environmental conditions more so. Temperature, dewpoint etc can cause this condition. Usually once the truck fully heats up, the vapor will stop.
What is the difference between baisc mid and full option. Have booked basic. Can i add those missing things outside, like 360 cam wide display carbon Fibre, raptor graphics sticker, wide ford logo on the tail.
Exhaust sounds like a rice rocket to be quite honest. Have you ever heard a gen 1 v8? Once you have, you’ll never be fully satisfied with the exhaust note of the gen 2.
I know Ford offers adjustable pedals and articulating steering wheel on other high end trucks (even my 03 LOL), so this one probably does too. You can adjust it to fit you.
For someone who doesn't live in the US, can anyone explain the point of a pickup truck vs say a large SUV? We don't really have then in the UK. Genuine question.
dheaddy well here in the US we have lots of farms and what we call farm country (farms for kilometers) and living out there having a truck helps due to the major benefits of the different 4wd options, a large SUV can’t to that
My mom is from the UK. I was born in the USA. Anywho, I have zero need for my truck. But when you need it, hauling furniture, appliances, etc, then It is nice to have the bed. I like to take the kids camping and the stronger engine, 4x4 is nice. Keeping all the wood, trash, dirty camping stuff out of the interior is great!
In the US Petrol is dirt cheap and even though we are taxed, no where near how much Europeans are taxed. I have a full size American pickup because I chose to have one, haul or tow about anything I need to, ride and comfort are unbelievably good. Also visibility is great sitting up high. In America we can afford to have a few Toys and need to haul them, because so far we’re not ruled by total socialist that tell you what to do or think the rewards of your hardwork belongs to them. Also we have lots of room, don’t think all of the US is like New York City or LA. A friend of mine was from Germany and educated as a Chief, he discovered he hated the food service business and was told by the German Government he could not change occupations, came to America and became a citizen and now has a truck modification garage and doing really well. You might not understand our love for big full size trucks, but I don’t understand your need to be controlled by government officials. If I want to own a gun for self protection, drive a pickup truck or take a dip if snuff I can, my Scott’s ancestors came here to be free. Also if you want a SUV or a Tesla it’s ok with me, it’s your choice.
@@poppyneese1811 I was just asking about the purpose of the pick ups and I think you've done a great job explaining that. Not a big fan of the current UK government, but they're certainly not socialists - quite the opposite in fact. I'll not trying to attack your way of life. Just a simple question about trucks!
Look up forscan features for f150’s. Just get the recommended forscan obd tool and download forscan (free) in a windows laptop . I have a 2019 Raptor and did the Lincoln fold mirrors , turned the double beep off , and made the parking lights my daytime driving instead of the low beams .
I’m 17 and have a 1994 Eddie Bauer Ford Bronco with a 5.8 V8 and king ranch interior and installed a Viken train horn. Can accelerate from 0-60 in 8 seconds with only 245 horsepower and 315 foot pounds of torque, but now my transfer case is restricting my transmission so I’ve got to get that rebuilt, usually get at least 17 mpg without overdrive on which is strange.I did a bunch of weird things to it idk.
You can put it in Baja Mode which automatically puts it in 4WD High, then use round knob to select 2WD (which most people don’t know ) and then you can safely drive in Baja all day long on dry hard surfaces without damaging drivetrain. Baja mode gives you best and most fun driving experience as transmission shift points are optimized for performance and the twin turbos stay spooled so no turbo lag in Baja.
New to your channel. I have an 2018 802a short cab and just purchased an 2020 GT350. I see we both share an enthusiasm for the blue oval. It appears you’re located in the Bay Area, if so maybe you can help me. I am looking for somebody to wire up some chase lights on my raptor as well as a star link system. Would you know anyone that could handle something like that properly? It’s very difficult to find quality craftsmanship here. Thank you.
Keith Westfall No but I got something faster than a raptor I bet you don’t even hit the dunes with your raptor probably have it lifted and doors open Blasting music at a Hobby lobby This motor is a Joke 5.0 Boosted will end it and now a GT500 motor will serve it even better and define it a badass truck once again
not even confirmed by Ford... It will end up being a V6 TT Hybrid like the Lincoln called the "Power Boost" which will have plenty more HP/TQ than the TRX. If your ego is hurt by the sound of a V6, tough.
@@svtgrizzwall1997 What do you have thats faster than a Raptor? A lot of vehicles are faster than a Raptor, but I bet you can't take it anywhere off road at high speed. The Raptor will completely destroy whatever vehicle you have offroad, nobody buys a Raptor for racing on pavement...
What a salesman lol my V6 sounds Great to me LMFAO he's probably never seen a real dirt road city boy no big deal wiring fire recall just put a heat shield u ford guys crack me up
