This was a test in many ways to see if I could talk for an hour about Photography and remember most of what I wanted to get across and I made it to 47 min and got 80% of what I wanted to say in.
I think with prompts I could actually do workshops again but in all honesty I might just stick to RU-vid.
I once heard RU-vid is great for teaching but terrible for retention in learning ! However I guess that’s because it’s not very face to face and there are not many notes or questions asked during a RU-vid video.
I must admit I have not tried RU-vid live but it’s not as interactive as real life.
Matt Walkley and Claire will both be at Photo North.

Cheers Sam, don’t you worry so much more to come I a two A4 pages on topics ! Might do Street Photography at some point as that’s just so fucked up with fluffy bollox.

I really do need to get back to being me.Might be a bit Ricky and a bit Billy without the accent. Now I have simplified my way or working with RU-vid I think I can continue down this route.

@@MattHart Your interviews are great, Matt... and they're very different. It would be an honour to do that, but I might need a few drinks first! OK, more than a few. We should do it in Paris (but in December this time 😉) and have a "rant-off"... I reckon I can rant as good as you.

I’ll admit my photography needs lots of work. Bought a couple of books, watched a lot of videos but learned that most channels are not what I’m looking for. Truly appreciate your channel as well as a few others that I find useful. I love photography and that’s what drives. If one day photography loves me back that will be fine too.

The trouble with RU-vid is retention of knowledge ! It’s easy to watch but the brain forgets very quickly.

@@MattHart it’s amazing how the more I learn the less confident I become. I enjoy what I do but I am also aware that as the years go by the photos I am most proud of today will be seen with wiser eyes in the tomorrows to come. That’s actually part of the fun for me. Yeah…I’m weird.

@@Maine_Focus it’s just progression I always used to look at Flickr or Instagram and scroll back to the start of peoples journey in Photography the images they shot at the start were totally different to their recent work.

Hey Matt , I was lucky enough to meet you and come on a some of your workshops a few years back and loved every minute of them. This is a great video in many ways; I think you have so much to offer the photography world so please keep going and don’t retire completely 👍

I’m great thanks mate ; when time allows I’m mostly working on long term documentary projects these days and not a huge fan of social media 😂 I think you are such a great educator with a lifetime of experience that myself and so many others look forward to hearing from you. I know you’ve had a rough time with your health but you would never know so please keep going my friend !

The most funny thing I saw was a Digital splash competition in Liverpool where two of the short listed people had the exact same image.

Thanks my Original Chanel was better more professional and polished but somehow this new one feels more personal and real. So thanks for watching. I was going to delete this channel but had some good feedback lately so looks like I will keep it and make more.

I am still on Instagram but had to move accounts because my old account got hacked. I come of Facebook it’s just so bad these days. Hope all is good with you. I have some plans for RU-vid. @@MattHart Matt, what I like about this video is that you are telling people what they don't want to hear. I used to be a real gear-head. I don't consider myself a good photographer but Im heading in the right direction. These days I read books on photography and smile at the guys with huge cameras and expensive gear who try to intimidate other photographers. I know now that photography is in your head, not in your hands. It would be great if you did follow up videos to this. Ive always been a bit of a maverick, and its great to hear other mavericks speaking the truth. Thanks for this.

Well ! I am starting to get back in to photography and Art in 2024 so might even start doing a few more videos for RU-vid just for fun.
