The Truth about SBMM and how it’s Manipulated in Call of Duty 

I am in this predictament. I have a 1.6KD, and my weekly KD for awhile is around a 2.0+. I haven't two-boxed. But it's exactly like you said. That first one or two games on may feel good, and then it gets cranked to the max, and I am not having fun anymore. I agree wholeheartedly with this video. Activison needs to find a better balance with SBMM.

Bottom line is it makes average to above average players feel like they are sh*t at the game when they are in the top brackets in terms of skill. I'm a 2kd and its nothing impressive but I'm still in the top 10% of players so why does every lobby humble me and make me feel like a total BOT like I have no arms or legs? Because I get paired with ONLY people who are at or above my skill level I can never have any fun, I can never use offmeta weapons, I can never chill for a second because people in my lobbies just DONT MISS. I stop being locked in for a minute in my lobbies and I go negative, no not even negative, I get farmed like a crop. You don't get rewarded for improving at this game you get punished.

Hey Cap, just watched this video. My KD went from .75 to .43 because I was in a severe motorcycle accident and my brain just doesn't keep up. I play better and get more kills when I play alone. The friends I do play with don't communicate well and kills my KD. I don't know how much time I have left on this earth due to my issues from the accident. My dream would be to play a couple games with you before I go. Can you make this happen? If not that's ok. I usually get on average 5 kills on solo. I play big map. My kd was a .8 & I followed your tips to get better now I’m at a 1.4 but I wish I stayed at a .8 😔 Most of my friends hate playing with me now since I’ll get 20+ kills while their fighting for their life. Also, I get spam reported which keeps getting me chat banned constantly 😭

I’ll be honest. I started playing Warzone about a year ago had a 0.7 KD now I’m at 1.55. Once I was getting the ropes and understanding how to play I wanted ”bot lobbies” so I could drop 20. I no longer care about SBMM that much anymore even though it can suck on some days. Now I can regularly drop 20 kills a game. The way I see it is the more I improve the sweatier my lobbies are going to be and that will therefore make me a better player. However EOMM is just plain out stupid and it’s there so activision can make as much money as possible. Anyways that’s my rant. If it wasn’t for watching Tcap and Joe regularly I don’t think I would have improved as much as I have. Thanks Tcap.

What I don't like about sbmm is that it forces me to do a lot against stacked teams above diamond while I get randoms that think they are him. At least give me similar skilled players, or open the bracket even more.

Very very good video, as a 1,5 kd player it kinda feels like the game hates you sometimes, but when you know how the matchmaking works it at least makes sense, they do want MORE people to enjoy the game and they achieve just that.

Tyler, I think you should do what makes you happy. The community that watches you everyday respects your transparency and candor. 2-boxing doesn’t bother me and in the end, you are still running solo vs squads and most simply ignore that fact. That said, I think it was a modern miracle that I was able to drop 30 in regular pubs recently. SBMM punishes average players that get better and that’s what has happened to me. I have zero fun playing the game. Great video btw

20:43 perfect example of people 2-box without 2-boxing, playing with someone who is clearly waaaay lower in skill and stats show it is a 2-box with an active user, if youre max level and play with level 400's and arent good, then ur technically 2-boxing cause you know thats gonna get some easier lobbies for a second lol

You’re preaching to the choir, the average player doesn’t look up videos they just play mindlessly. I’m a 1.5 KD player and when I play with my bot friend (.6kd), I consistently get double digit kills. So I might try two-boxing with my laptop 😂 Great overall video, very educational. If people still have criticisms they clearly won’t listen and never will. Everything you said is spot on.

I think what activison should do is make Warzone like make sbmm completely Radom but for people who played less than 5 games they get bot lobbies so they can get a taste of what the game produces also we get that randomness and don’t forgot we can bully Christmas noob btw great vid

As a somewhat higher skilled player who used to be a bot, SBMM definitely punished me for me progress. That sucks. But the other day I happened to run into a once-in-a lifetime bot lobby. Apparent reason: I was playing with a bot aka by best friend ❤ who sucks and barely plays. Although it felt great to crush the lobby on my own - which otherwise never ever happens - and hit PR, it also illustrated why SBMM is there. All those ennemies got deleted, and I’m not even a demon, just a solid player. So, how could these people ever have fun if they were thrown into higher skilled lobbies… they DO need SBMM. It just sucks for me 😂

Your right, I’m wait for Bo6. Playing WZ seems like a lot of work… you gotta warm up just to play average. If I try to play the game cold, you just start off a negative. 0 kills, team wiped right at the beginning. And it’s like that for multiple games. You go against teams that have been playing for hours.

I have a kd of 1.41 and a pr of 26 but recently my kd has gone down from 1.43 because of sbmm and im getting in the blender much more than I did before

My EOMM is broken. When I got to a certain skill level I stopped getting those easier games that used to sprinkle in to keep me online. I must have spent above the threshold of expected money per player on skins.

I hit a 20 kill game when i was terrible at the game, never hit a game like that since despite being a better player. The worst part is that i have been able to get close when i play with my friends that aren't the greatest at the game but ive never been able to do that in my lobbies that are sweaty.

I am a 2KD Player, and I will be completely honest... it is not good for anyone to do 2 boxing, vpns or straight up cheat. Do I want easier lobbies? OF COURSE! Would I 2 box if I was 100% certain I would not be getting banned? OF COURSE!! I WANT TO HAVE FUN WITH MY FRIENDS! Do I think that TCaptainX doing 2 boxing is good? NOPE The whole thing is not good, but the one at fault is Activision. SBMM should not be a thing outside of ranked. WE ARE PLAYING CASUAL, WHY DO I NEED TO PLAY SO SWEATY WHEN I ONLY WANT TO HAVE FUN!?

Now that you point it out, it's so true. SBMM ropes you into playing more and more games than you originally would have. Whenever I'm playing Rebirth, I keep getting so annoyed and then I wipe a four stack and feel so proud of myself and play another. I haven't played Warzone a whole lot since 3 dropped, but I've downloaded it again and rediscovered TCap videos (which I've been watching since like 17k subs) and I'm enjoying it again. I mostly just mess around in Warzone Bootcamp, my Rebirth KD is 0.73. The first thing I did when I redownloaded Warzone was pull up TCap guides and it really helps me. Thanks man, you're the best. And I really appreciate the open and honest policy you take, it's nice to know that at least some creators out there can be honest that, yes, they're really good at the game, but they do boost it. Best Warzone RU-vidr out there by a long stretch. I look forward to your next upload! Edit: In my opinion, you should keep 2boxing but be open about it. Nobody wants to watch somebody die over and over and over again, but they'll get annoyed with you for 2boxing, so just be open about it so that those of us who like your content for what it is can keep enjoying it, knowing that it's a casual game, not a ranked one, so it doesn't matter. It's only stronger players (or players that otherwise see themselves as strong) that don't like SBMM... weaker players would rather not be chain killed I believe. What's so frustrating with SBMM as currently implement is that player ratings are not open, you can never tell if you had a good/bad game or if the machine just gave you one. EOMM/engagement-optimized matchmaking, though, is fucking horrifying

Maybe do both, play your skill lobbies and 2 box after some frustrating games. That would be more interesting with a mixture. Thanks for your honesty. I don't see why Activision won't make a no sbmm and eomm section for the mass that would play it. I want a mix of player levels in each match, not my exact skill level every single match.

I wonder if SBMM doesnt know what to do with me because i never spend any $ on cosmetics. I dont own a single cosmetic from any in game store. Ill have a series of games where ill go 30+ w/ single digit deaths and still dont seem to be paired with wannabe swags

I play with my friends but they’re more casual players KD of .50 or .85 and when they play with me they say my lobbies are not fun. My KD is 1.86 but I struggle sometimes too with the lobbies we join. It feels like we’re playing a CDL, I try to practice whatever I can: movement, aiming, centering etc. I’ve been called cheater so that’s good I guess, that means I’m improving. Thanks for the explanation and advices. I appreciate the honesty, I’d rather follow someone who’s honest about it rather than someone who doesn’t admit it.👌🏻

Big respect for admitting the times that you 2 box. Most streamers do it. Truth is always better. You missed one cheat method that never gets caught though - Chronus. I'm sure Activision could find a way to detect "repeated inputs" or "suspiciously consistent inputs" especially between games and identify the users, but they don't care.

I vote no two boxing. I like watching when you’re sweating against other sweaty players even if it’s lower kills. I don’t care about how many kills anyone gets. I care about the content being entertaining and I think that competition at a high level is the most entertaining type of content. This is probably why I liked your ranked content the most but I totally get it’s frustrating to run into so many cheaters:/ much love 🫡

I finally got fed up with the sbmm/eomm manipulation and basically quit playing i only play now when a friend asks me to so went from an every day player to playing like 4 or 5 days a month and it's actually more fun that way

My friends and I have just done random challenges. We have fun, and our KD’s tank. Which gets us into easier lobbies where the challenges are a little more fun to do. Makes it suck for other players coming up against us cause we really aren’t interested in winning but they can just go to ranked or something.

I’ve been 2boxing for the past month and I don’t get the absolute easiest lobbies because I have a 2.1 kd but they are definitely easier and more fun because I can drop 20 kill games consistently solo quads.

Yup pretty much right I dropped my first 30 kill game because I had a two friends come back after a year of not playing and squad up. Pretty fun. Second game I dropped 24.

Yeessssss, I love it when pros finally point out the Iridecent and Top 250 problem, I have been wanting to hit Iri for a long time, but the problem is blatant hackers, and from what I've learned from a buddy of mine who knows some people who give out cheats, most Top 250s and Iris are cheating, and I actually had a situation with a multi Top 250 player named AXIOMS who was playing with a blatant hacker, who could have gotten away with cheating if he didn't mess around and look at me through walls in the kill cam, and that same cheater then got Ricoheted mid game when they tried to push me and my buddy

Keep doing you T! 2 Boxing has made the game not only playable but enjoyable again when I play with my wife. She hated playing in my lobbies because of SBMM and gaming is something we have done together since our first Date. Remember it’s just a game so have fun! And for the haters you shouldn’t be mad creators, be mad a Activision for manipulating your time.

At the moment I have a 2.3kd in my last 10 games consistently in ranked and a 1.4 or so in pubs. Ranked is so much easier but I can’t even enjoy it because my teammates sell so much. Hopefully bo6 will bring me back to enjoying the game

As a Platinum/Diamond player, it gets really annoying when I fight against top 250 and Irredesiant players every game that I play for rank, and when my teammates are always Bronze, Rank 1 players

When you play quads and have the worst player as the host i find you get put in their level lobbies and that's what is messed up. I used to play a lot with a girl and then whoever else to make the quad. I was a better player than her and would get around 5 k's to each 💀 of my own. Then when i would play solo it would stick me in the sweatiest of lobbies cause of my k/d but I'd just get hammered cause I'm far, far from a 5k/d player.

Normally I never like exploits or in game cheats 2 boxing is new to me and just learned it now from you normally I say yeah nah I’m done but your videos keep me interested simply because I just learn some new things in warzone that I don’t (from a pov of a warzone vanguard era player) heck even some of my loadouts I use most were from your videos

Activision wants your money. The more you stay, the more likely you’ll spend money on this game. So they give you easy lobbies after hard lobbies. The other times you are the easy lobbies for others

SBMM is bullshit. I remember 12 years ago I would get into lobbies where my team was just crap and the other team were all on voice chat sweating their ass off. Did i complain that i died to them? No it made me better. In fact i loved to show them that i wont let them have their fun. I wasnt a bot but i wasn't the best...and yet it helped me see that i need to improve and fighting bad teams was boring to me. I wanted to rush a certain spot on the map to make it harder for the enemies to win that round/game. It didnt matter to me if my KD was 8 kills and 15 deaths. I could tell that im helping my team by making decisions that might have ruined my KD for that match but it was hella fun fighting different type of players every new game.

I two box from time to time but it quit working for me after the Xbox network went down a few months back. Now when I try to do it the lobbies don’t fill and if activision doesn’t want us two boxing then they should fix SBMM it’s not even fun anymore playing in sweaty lobbies 98% of the time hoping for one decent lobby each night

pubs are way to sweaty. i just started playing with some friends that are new. they played warzone 1 and other shooters so they are not complete bots but my lobbies are to sweaty for them. i pretty much gotta 1v4 stackers that i struggle to even 1v1 and then they complain i aint telling them what to do or blame me say i am playing for kills. its hard to teach someone while trying to out play 4 players

Man caps catching a ton of flac for this, however imo sbmm needs to be tuned down at the top end and thats what two boxing is doing until somone is actioned for it as long as you aren't hiding it its fine

Sbmm has gotten me and my buddy to the point where we stopped playing. The games these past few weeks have been so incredibly sweaty that we are just not having fun anymore. For reference, im about a 3.5-4kd player but im struggling a lot more than I used to before season 6. Its gotten to the point where we have to really lock in most games instead of just have a casual conversation about other things and still do well. Honestly, if you have more fun when 2 boxing, then by all means go for it. Thats what gaming should be about in the end

Honestly, I feel like there are a bunch of players who are doing this that wont admit it or are complete A-Holes to people on the game. You seem to be the antithesis of this. I am a 1.1 KD and I feel like no matter what is going on in game, or who is playing. it all comes down to how I respond to players who are better. I am always forced to reassess my own game play, strategy, aim skills, meta etc. The fact is that I am not that good. I wish it was not the case but it is. SO if you want to 2 box cool. I hope to see you in a lobby. I might just get a chance to drop the Cap! (with a bunker buster from across the map... by accident). but hey is possible. Keep doing you. TCap while I enjoy your content along with Cuppajoe I do potentially see this being an issue in the future: IMO dropping high kills is pretty unrealistic for low skilled players anyway. So either they watch streamers hoping to be like that one day, with a false sense of understanding or they know this but just enjoy the content. I personally would rather see you play against players along your skill level and you teach us how to perform best in that scenario. Seeing you kill a bunch of guys that don’t shoot back just doesn’t help me. My lobbies are always super sweaty for me as I play with a squad with decent skills. It’s a struggle most of the time to enjoy playing so I do understand why people want to cheat the system. It just doesn’t help me get better to see that. At the end of the day play how you want, I’ll watch it if I choose. However I’ll be more interested when you’re struggling like I do but playing at your best. Less than 10 kills in a match is more realistic to our lobbies.

If you’re east coast and DC or NY are your closest servers there is no method to get better lobbies.

I think you shoudl do both. 2 box your heart out when you feel like it. And if you don't... then don't. I 2 box every game and it makes the game 100x more fun. We are playing a video game, not in the NBA. People shouldn't be punished for being good at something. Especially building their skill to get to that level.

I dont understand why we should play like Ranked in a Public Lobby is it that hard for activisiom to only put SBMM on Ranked Mode and for public just Random no SBMM a mix of everything the Game would be so much more fun and alot of people would play it that way..

I watched my homeboys stream couple days ago and he is absolutely the best of our group, he was the first one to hit crimson and is truly good. BUT when he wanted to hit iridescent I deadasss saw more cheaters in ranked than pubs. We spectated one hacker, he got banned and a few games later he got to came back like never happenend before. MW3 got so outrageous in his last cycle of life that playin this game will only cause you pain. In other words, yes, if you are hard stuck and the sweat does not drop, then 2-boxing is only the way to try to have a bit of fun. I had only ONE good game with 17 kills and I got to experience the full SBMM on my neck afterwards. I am talkin about out of the gates SBMM. Primetime SBMM. God... I want Bo6 to drop sooner and leave MW3 asap

I really don't care if you do it or not. As i have gotten better I also have started to enjoy the game less because of getting so many tough lobbies. I actually havent beat my PR from 2boxing because while yes you get easier lobbies you are still 2v1 or 3v1 or 4v1. I think by doing this it has allowed me to get better because i have to now think about how can i get this guy and escape this way to kill the other. Just makes the game a bit more enjoyable and a different type of challenge.

I already knew this was going on, not just with you but the vast majority of content creators, because someone with a 5 k/d for example is not going solo into quads and dropping 30-40 kills (ahem, Joewo) in a lobby of their own skill level. TCap, love your videos , but you realize by two boxing you just drive more people away from the game further increasing the problem? I get it because dropping higher kill games is better for your livelihood, but encouraging people to two box is incredibly lame. It's not genuine to say youre doing it just for fun in a video game, you're doing it to increase your revenue which I understand. I really think all of the SBMM stuff only negatively affects like the top 10-20% of players, and for the majority it's actually a good thing as proved by those retention rate numbers from Activision (not saying that the current SBMM system is perfect by any means either).

1 person doing it isnt a problem, say 90% of the higher skill players do it, then its a problem and i guarentee most of the higher skilled players are doing it
