The Truth about Tarkov for Casual Players 

I started last wipe late, played solo for a few weeks and studied the game's mechanics extensively. I remember hiding in bushes every couple of minutes, ALT-tabbing and checking the map, taking things extremely slow. I introduced a couple of my friends to the game, and I soon learned just how hard it was for the average player to grasp. The first time I ever had "fun" in Tarkov was on Shoreline, I had both legs crippled and a minor bleed with no healing supplies by a scav, walked five minutes to that pier where the boat extract is, killed another two scavs and found a bandage. I then limped all the way to tunnel extract, groaning in pain the entire time, just wishing someone would end my suffering. It took me thirty goddamn minutes to limp from one end of the map to the other, but getting out made me feel a sense of bitter euphoria that I've never felt before, going from nail biting stress to a feeling of triumph.

When he was looking at Old Gas I already knew what was going to happen.....no smoke at extracts is PAIN!

1:50 that map is australian, it shows south on top. Just so you don't get even more confused at dusk/dawn because that's what messed with my orientation on reserve and customs a whole lot

you should turn on anisotropic filtering. that'll get rid of the horrible looking terrain textures with no performance impact

Quick tip: repair your weapons! The lower the durability, the lower the accuracy and the weapon has a higher chance to jam. Always repair items before every raid, and look out for a weapon/ armor repair kit!

The stupidest thing in Tarkov is the lack of an ingame map that shows your extracts, forcing you to alt-tab to wiki to read the map, or learn it offline.

Escaping from Tarkov requires a lot of investment, but I think the less you play it, the most intense the gameplay is, you are always surprised by new situations. That is the true Tarkov.

Quick tip for items in general. If you don't want to hotkey them, instead of right-clicking for the menu, you can just double-click.

This was a great video for an absolute new player like myself. Started playing yesterday and my god is it stressful/terrifying…but so addictive! I tried a couple scav/PMC runs on ground zero. 1 successful scav and PMC extract so far. Currently lvl 3. This video really showed that everyone is scared when playing I guess. You handled yourself so well in those gun fights. I have the gear fear currently as I don’t how to attach sights to my guns on which site can be used on what etc but that will come with time. Same thing happened to me on Shoreline a year or two ago: my first time on it was as a Scav and I spawned in w/ a Labs key: got out too thankfully! I'm Level 14 (only unlocked the flea once which was last wipe) now so I gotta say it's nice to see someone else not absolutely cracked at Lv.40+ sharing the Tarkov Experience (I've also got Bad Rep Evidence to do lol) Good video dude keep up the TactiTimmy Chronicles :D

to cut down on having to open the health and shortcuts you can set them to always show, it helped me a ton early on and I still play like that 600 hrs in

Safest path to extract when at the bad rep cabin go wide left across the street, behind new gas, around radio tower all the way to extract at end of map. Very rarely encounter anyone there after the first 5 min of a raid

U can set ur heals for heavy and light bleeding on the same hotkey (press and release, i have it on 4+9(set 9 on release 4)) than u have only one key for two bleeds, makes it a little bit less stressy.

You can turn a setting to show your hotbar on the screen and your player's health its alot easier to see fast what u need to fix and what to press to heal or switch guns

Like the video man, I'm new to Tarkov (lvl 5) and keep dying in the raids and getting 0 exp lol, will get there eventually as I've been doing customs alot to master the map. What's the gun loadout you are rocking? something I will try when I can as well, assuming I need lvl 15 for the market to get the stuff?

I have never seen your channel before but just had it recommended to me, pretty nice editing, was fun to watch. I personally hit lvl51 recently and am around 5 quests from getting Kappa for my 2nd time. If you want legitimate advice or help I would be happy to. You can definitely be a lot better with some small changes to your gameplay.

I've played Tarkov since Alpha haven't been super into the last few wipes but my go to tip for new players is pick a map I usually recommend customs and only scav there and memorize where caches are and just run from cache to cache on scav & PMC. This makes you good money but also helps you learn at least 1 route across the map. You can then expand by hitting a cache and exploring the area around it. If you do this for every map over time you'll learn conflict areas and how to navigate maps.

that bunker you walked into to check if it was an extract is zb-011. you have to turn power on, and if the light is on above the inside door than you can take it. hit or miss extract tho just like old gas

As a new player: Maps: id avoid the newer maps like Streets & Lighthouse as these are brutal for multiple reasons. Big open maps like Woods or Shoreline i feel is a lot more beginner friendly espcially if you avoid the pvp hotspots. Loot: dont grab weapons parts or attachments at all (aka anything from a weapons box). Anything else usually has a higher value. Single slot items usually is worth more than multi slot. Food & meds become valuable once you unlock the fleemarket. Scav: Never been easier to scav really. Load in to like Factory, walk away from the sound of gunfire & grab everything. Then extract & just klck the sell all button. Just the gear itself you spawn with is usually 100k & with a bot more you get 150-200k easy. Always save like Labs Keycards or med injectors for selling on flee later. Look at your scav before loading in & if you see a larger backpack consider loading to a larger map like woods for optimal hoarding. Scavs tend to spawn in just when the pmcs is exiting so waiting 5 mins in a bush isnt a bad idea if you just want to loot (go make a cop of coffee while waiting). Gear: Always insure it as this late in the wipe no one really wants your gear really. Dont feel bad about grabbing someone else gear either. Most players are usually swimming in cash from reselling items crafted in the hideout etc. Also dont forget you can use your scav gear for you next pmc run & its a gear way to test the different weapons too. Weapon: I always suggest shotguns with like 7mm or 6,5mm buckshot shells. Even thou the buckshot has little armor penetration, the multiple pellets does massive damage & is dirt cheap & does pretty well in close to mid range firefights. Even if you havnt unlocked any of the better .. rapid firing .. shotguns like the Saiga, 153 or 155 you can usually still buy these used from Fence & repair them. Very rarely locks up too. Once you unlock Piranha shells you should obviously use those.

1:50 perfectly describes why I love extraction shooters compared to standard FPS because sometimes "stakes are high" and you get minor panic attack followed by adrenaline burst... From Day Z roaming for hours being chill then feeling dread of bullets whiz past your head or Tarkov and Hunt having same feeling only condensed to smaller maps/raids mmmmmmm I love it!

The truth is learning the game is the most fun for me. the learning phase is the most exciting and adrenaline gut wretching endopamine kicker. haha. i mean its the most memorable parts of a game, the exp u gain and knowledge to go the developing phase where you improve your tactics, planning and skills. next is playing around like trying bunnch of stuffs just messin around. and i think thats one of the selling points of tarkov its one of those games that will give it to you bcuz you have freedom in the game. its so good to be young and have so much time. thats tarkov for me. oh the learning phase is the longest.

I'm a new player too, a tip is to show your health condition at all times instead of hiding/autohide it, that way it's easier to see if ur hit and need healing.

I loved my first 50 hours of tarkov more than everything after, the feeling to explore and navigate the maps and trying to stay alive was incredible. At tier3 i feel like it gets grindy and knowing the mapsgives me the routine to perform better but destroys the thrill. So i think its a great game for casual players, its just a niche game and thats a good thing

I don't remember what the patch was called, it was quite a while ago, but all i remember is that the vector got added in the next patch, but that was the most fun I ever had playing a game EVER and I think in BSG's efforts to execute their vision they stumbled upon a much better product that was just the right amount of hard and realistic while being a lot more fun and accessible to the everyday person who is an adult with a job and possibly even a family (which is the majority of people who play or at least did play) and not just dudes who verbally accost anyone who wants to be able to play casually and streamers which is the current playerbase

Quick tip for anyone new starting the game. people will tell you lots of Different "starter" kits and things like that. But for me I always will suggest the PPSH as a classic starter. while you can't mod out your gun it has one of the best features in the game. no matter the durability it does not jam. means you can beat the hell out of it if you manage to survive long enough and that way you aren't constantly worried about your gun jamming on you mid combat. its a great beginner gun. Low recoil and fast fire rate. 35 round mags and the pervious no jamming^ yes against a chad it won't likely kill them, but going for the legs (the classic tarky leg meta) or letting them by you to wait for easier prey are both great options to using it. best of luck!

Try crouching more often for full auto sprays... It helps me a lot

there are stages to the game that open it up even more. Flea Market is huge, and then anytime you level up traders. Weapons get cheaper, and better guns unlock. XP is money imo. Always prioritize xp over money. Then getting the hideout upgraded. I'm passively making 1.5 million a day through bitcoins and crafting. Great video! First wipe is always a doozy. Game gets really fun the more you play.

i havent left ground zero the whole wipe i have studied every inch of this map and have become the master ever since then im dropping giga chads every raid and am having lots of fun

Straight up the AKS-U can carry you through to late-mid levels, it's a great wee workhorse of a gun, nice with a monstrum 2x on it as well.

I've played almost exclusively solo this wipe. I run night raids and find somewhere to wait tactically the first 10 minutes of the raid. I don't have a ton of free time to play this wipe but I'm almost level 26 now. I am not a giga chad wiping lobbies so I have to play slow and carefully.

yap first scav raid I ever done and I found a streets of tarkov apartment 13 marked key and almost threw it away for a battery or something because I was that new

The having to use the internet for a map instead of there just being an all the time in game map was a huge turn off for me as a newer player trying to learn it. Blundering around trying to figure out where I was and to find the extracts was frustrating.

Even with 1500hours in Tarkov I still consider myself a casual player -- I've played since the beginning but typically take 2-3 wipes off. The recoil and vaulting changes brought me back this wipe. I love this game because there's always something to learn but frankly its hard to make it a main game when it wipes so often.

Every time my buddies hit level 42 they all just quit the game. Noobs always complain about fighting people with max traders and all of the chads just complain that they got max traders and now they have nothing to do.

tarkov is hard only if you are new to the game... used to be afraid as well but now the more i play the more easy it gets and actually not that bad as youtubers says

Reserve is a great map imo. Just use the big radar dish/lightbulb shaped thing on top of the hill to orient yourself.

I've done over 700 scav raids, never loaded in with a GPU but it's nice to know it is possible lol.

This is a true tarkov video. I do like watching all the chads like pest and lvndmark but this just brings back when I started playing. I recently achieved more than a 1-1 pmc kill and death ratio and it’s been amazing actually feeling confident in fights this wipe

Had the game a year, tried to play it 3 or 4 times. Its just way hard to get into if your not playing everyday

Funny, i not use that much flea to buy weapons, i almost use rewards from quests and stuff i got in creats, i sell any scav weapon because they fails a lot in middle of shotages lol

Holy crap. You play almost exactly like me, only, you can actually hit stuff, AND is not afraid of engaging in firefights. You are LEAGUES better then me, and yet, no map knowledge at all. Damn. To be fair, I only play customs and factory, and even then only use about half of the map

Learning the maps and dealing with inertia are my biggest issues. Knowing dayz main maps like my hometown map me lazy to have to learn these little maps and extracts points. Especially with all the talk of hackers in every match. The few raids I’ve extracted from have been pretty cool! But the one taps 4 second after I spawn in a raid have been ridiculous 🤣😢😂

I tried tarkov when it girst came out. My buddy bailed on me so i started doing solo runs. I found out pretty quick that theres a giant learning curve. I decided that its not the game for me, i dont have enough time to sink into it.

Truth is if you are a casual you will always be behind. There is no way to learn the maps safe that also feels rewarding. Best way to learn would probably be SPT

Don't hip fire as much, even with a laser. When they changed the recoil they made hip fire worse.

As this is my first wipe I think the flea market really does open up so many avenues as a casual player

At 17:13 the path you took is an extract as well the light above it wasnt on so you couldnt take it is all its ZB-12

SPT lets you casual as slow as you want. Add the Leveled Progression mod and the AI will be close to you in gear and abilities, not way over.

Nothing worst than getting loot you REALLY need onlu to realize the extract you trailed half the map for is closed. The realization that the next extract is across the map hurts everytime.

Finally someone who plays the game with decent graphics settings and a normal (or maybe no) postfx. Get tired of watching streamers lower the texture settings so they can get 130+fps! Great video, nice to be able to relate to an experience in Tarkov.

i love how you compared EFT with Hunt both are kinda the same, but they both got there own ambience. In my opinion hunt is more chill than EFT but both are amazing games

The only way to get good in EFT or enjoy it is if you put in a lot of hours. Simply spawning in a map not knowing where the extract points are is pointless. You will only survive if you look at guides and other stuff beforehand

I'd been playing EFT since late 2017 until I just gave up on it, sometime in 2021. A couple weeks after this latest wipe I started playing again. It's an amazing game. Warts (cheaters) and all.

now you can play a broken ass pve, but still works. you can learn the maps, fight the bosses and complete all the quests. for casual players. + no cheaters

Im a casual Tarkov player but I am about 2 raids away from 32. Of course, I am a casual Yarkov player who has been a casual tarkov player for about 6 years. So I have slowly learmed a lot along the way and am able to make really good use of what little time I do get to play. Pro Casul Tip: Dont compare yourself to the rest of the Tarkovians. Just play and and find ways to have fun. Eventually you will find your groove.

I love this game man but as a full time worker with a 2 year old, I maybe have time to sit down and game once or twice a week, and playing a game as frustrating as Tarkov just ain’t good for my mental health haha so for now I’ve stopped playing. Maybe when the game is fully released as 1.0 I’ll give it another shot but for now I’m putting it away. Still love watching it though ❤️

Scav runs are my favorite too, in fact I would just play scavs if I could. (and I sorta do).

I would play tarkov off if I had a computer. So my alternative is Arena Breakout, closest thing I can find to tarkov, And let me tell you something, I am a casual player, but people are camping crazy especially the Portuguese and Mexican nationality players. Lately people been so sweaty ingame, they’ve been bringing level five and six body armor and helmets and top-tier ammo into basic map just for fun killing off low level PMC’s. Shits just as hard But if you can get over the gear fear, it gets easier as you play

Mobility Tip: drop your backpack mid fire fight for the extra mobility it could mean life or death and if you die you won’t need that backpack

I love and hate this game so much. I’ve gotten kappa 2-3 wipes ago. Now I don’t care about quests to much

The flea is just the beginning. There are a lot of things that are still locked for you and you have to max out the traders and hideout in order to get them. My advice for newbies like me (only second wipe), don't "postpone" the PvP part of the game till after you unlock something. There is always one more thing to unlock, and the quests practically never end. They are also very boring and repetitive - you will find yourself doing the same thing over and over again but in different places in different maps. The quests are dumb. the only effect they have is that they make you want to survive the raid more than anything, increasing that anxiety and fear of wasting your time by not completing that quest you loaded into the raid for. This is what I did in my first wipe: I avoided any PvP I didn't had to take. Just played quests and killed scavs, cheesed my way to level 42. only to find out I don't have much interest in the game anymore. (granted, this was before the recoil update - but still) So my approach this wipe: don't load into a raid in order to complete a stupid quest. load into a raid to fuck shit up. send people back to their stash. if you happen to complete a quest along the way - so be it! but it shouldn't be the reason you loaded in. I think the game is more fun this way. I was very proud of myself this wipe when I completed a bunch of tasks but instead of running to extract I kept playing the raid, even when it got me killed. Anyway - awesome video :D
