When hurricane Ian hit Orlando, Florida in Sept. 29 2022. The hotel I was staying lost power. Because of that experience, I started researching flashlights, lanterns, and then I found you. Your amazing. Keep up the good work. I'm really happy with Nitecore's innovations. I will definitely be seeing more of you soon.
How long was the power out in the hotel? I live in Miami, Florida, and Hurricane Ian mostly spared Miami-Dade, unlike Ft. Meyers and other locations such as Orlando We personally were very fortunate at our particular home. I did make sure I had charged flashlights, headlamps, and lanterns, before Hurricane Ian, but did not need them except for my usual uses. Did you have any flashlights along at all? I have always carried at least a small flashlight, and that is much easier now with LEDs. I have been in buildings on multiple occasions when the power went out, not to mention all the other uses I find. Now people often use their phone, but I prefer to save its charge, and it might not have much when I need a light, so it is generally only used as a backup. I was viewing a video, probably on keychain sized or EDC flashlights, and one gentleman said that ever since he was caught in a stairwell without light, during an earthquake in San Francisco, he was never without a flashlight again.
Hi @@donaldstrader7241 Thank you for asking. The Hilton lost power at 8:30am, and it didn't recovery until the 6pm the next day. The Hilton was a few blocks away from the nursing home that so flood bad the national guard came to rescue to save over 200 people. I made sure I had flashlights, lanterns, 2 way radios, and rechargeable batteries. But what I didn't account for was that this kit over 5 years old. My daily AA rechargeable batteries had a bad internal resistance of 500. Now I know that from Nitecore's UMS4 charger. Also my 2 way radio rechargeable battery pack needed to be replaced. The charger was no longer working. The lanterns use AA. The only ready to use battery were a lot of AAA batteries. T mobile lost its data network. But the phone service did work. My everyday carry flashlight is usually in my room, Inova T1MP, I had that since 2010. My back up stays in the car the Inova T1, older model because it was my 1st. Ironically I wanted a powerful flashlight ever since walked to my car in a garage that lost power. I didn't like that feeling. But now I want more features in a flashlight. Then just a strobe and 6hrs of use. I also needed a modern flashlight with more throw power.
@@thewhiteknightrider you must be careful about the resistance reading on USM4. sometimes Internal resistance will seem high if you slap the battery in uncarefully and grease from your fingers and dirt is on the end. one of my batteries said "poor" in slot 3 and it was puzzling that I noticed it was always slot 3. I could switch batteries into different banks and it would read "poor" always in slot 3, regardless which battery. I gave the contacts a good strong wipe and all of a sudden all my batteries were under 180 m Ohms and read "good" in all slots. be mindful to get a good strong and clean contact. especially with AA and AAA batteries that are very small and might position themselves crooked inside the charger.
I bought the MH12SE. I was looking for a compact enough flashligh with a pretty decent throw. Working Concert security its been tough finding a bright enough flashlight that was pocketable and had some pretty solid throw. Now I can target crowd surfers for the team and when roaming outside I can light up the area pretty well. I have purchased many Nitecore flashlights trying to find the best balance. I can relax now.
I could use this flashlight at my Grandma's house in the Navajo Reservation, could use it to check on the animals at night, keeping a look out for Coyotes. And people trying to steal our sheep. This flashlight would really come in handy.
I work as a paramedic and sometimes when we attend to cases at night especially during road traffic accident and this MH12 SE will help me a lot not only the size is great but the distance of the beam will be a great advantage as we sometimes need to look for other danger around us.
Hi MJ!! I do not carry an EDC knife as I find it may intimidate others. I always carry a swiss multitool and a TIP SE. I find that with the TIP SE, I feel very safe as it can blind attackers with its 500 lumen. Fun fact from watching your videos, is that I learn that it only takes 250 to blind someone for a short time. Therefore, this MH12SE would make a perfect weapon to replace a knife. (at least for me)
MJ, a pretty comprehensive video again. Clearly the best demonstrator videos out there. From ANY brand! And I have seen a LOT. Other brands have a lot of models doing the exact same things. NITECORE is the one brand to have clear distinctions between Tactical and EDC flashlights. Clearly a result of listening to actual Tactical and Everyday users. Great job! The MH12SE helped me zone in. It was a toss up between a MH12S and a P10i before. No more waiting. MH12SE!
Nitecore lights are hands down the best lites on the market!, period! That extra long beam pattern would be great for spotting coyotes lurking in the darkness while I am walking the dogs at night. It would also be great for hunting Zombies too! That thing looks FANTASTIC!
@@adamzocchi I put a rubberized tactical ring on mine that I think came from some other flashlight I bought. It makes the tail switch easier to operate. It works great!
I’ve got the p10ix , great flood light , but I find myself needing focused beam from time to time on the night shift. The selling point for me is the size and the throw! Good job !
I would love this light for seeing across the water and it has multiple retention ideas so it does not get dropped into the water. I like the innovative way the holster works along with the tail grip collar. Thanks for the informative video.
Well I'm a security guard inside and outside, and that beautiful black bright light will help me excel in life and to be the best version of myself while im working at night.I won't mention the fact I want to make my co-workers jealous of my new nitecore flashlight while they use their Maglite. This is actually a really impressive light. I also like that it uses regular button top 21700 batteries instead of a proprietary battery. The only thing I wish Nightcore would fix to be like everybody else on the planet is give me a green / red Power indicator of battery level on the mode switch like everybody else. Other than that though phenomenal light
It is one of the better offerings of late, from NiteCore, Brad. I have it and really like it! It hangs right in there with the P23i, which is a huge disappointment, but that’s a comment for the other video! Great comment!
Wow.. this light would definitely help me in my line of work.. having to inspect high and dark areas, the beam distance certainly going to ensure my inspection goes smooth and thorough.. and the compact size, unbelievable.. as i have tools to carry along with me, the compact size will surely come in handy.. and as for safety, definitely the large vehicle will be able to spot me from a far with the help of the beam distance and the lumens... Hope i will be able to get 1 of this light to add to my nitecore collection...
Seems to be a very good mix between beam patterns for that extra oomph… I’d personally edc this. Perfect for night work as a backup search in my security gigs, and awfully useful as a self defence tool in my bouncer job
It would serve to light up my night walks back home from work where I live, in the city without electricity, Beirut. Self defence, rescue, and pocket light as a first responder.
The MH12S is a great light. I've been carrying it daily now for over a year and I charge it once a week. The end cap mounted switch is simple on/off and that's a great feature. I don't have to fumble through clicks to find the intensity I'm looking for. Nitecore did an awesome job engineering a second beam selection switch away from the main end cap switch. It's plenty bright although I keep mine on a low brightness setting for electrical inspection work on the production floor. Guess I'll have to buy the SE now and give it a try.
Hi as I work in construction industry ( viaduct) we deal a lot on inside very long tunnel & tower like structure. Usually all works are done during night time to minimize the risk to the public. this will be useful for my kind of work, as its will light up and can reach further than normal flashlight

I'd use the MH12SE as a search and rescue tool, 405 metres is insane for such a small EDC carry. I have the MH12S and the more I see the SE the more I want it!
I carry flashlight almost Everyday as my EDC, I feel that MH12 SE is a great Upgrade of my EC23 with no built in charger. 1800 lumens are very powerful for pocketable flashlight for self defense at any time. To have MH12 SE with me everyday are very useful.
I’d use it to replace my p12 (2015 version) which I used for all sorts of work (painting, construction, etc.) going through college. Now I work as an industrial chemist, I use my light to check inside drums, look to the bottom of tanks of dark solutions, even walking to my car at night.
I walk late at night in a bad neighborhood. I have the MH12S which is a good light but unfortunately it doesn't cut through ambient light pollution. This is now making me look into other lights with higher candela and throw. This is what I need over my MH12S. Everything I like with the candela I need.
Great light! I would actually gift this to my daughter who walks around her college campus at night. This light would allow her to see better and to actually use in self defense.
That light would definitely help me im a delivery driver at night and it has the reach and brightness to see apartment building number and those hard to see house numbers, and always great review of your products 👍

I’m a keen motorcyclist and amateur photographer, we really enjoy early morning shoots just before day break, it’s cooler to work in an offers very dynamic natural light however there is a small window where it’s too dark for the camera to capture the bikes in full detail as the sky slowly light up behind them. The different brightness levels of the image 12 S would be extremely handy for light painting subjects, but equally as important as a signal tool so far up the road to let the rider know when the cameras rolling and to start Riding, with it’s 1800 lm this would also be doable during the day as radio communication is not always available but a flash or double flash from the bright light can be an action cue.
as a process server of 18 years I have found myself in many precarious positions where light would be the defining factor to safety serving in rural areas I have had to serve aggressive people as well as deal with aggressive animal life as exciting as this can be it is scary to do in the dark

This light MH12SE can help me working at night since I'm working at container yard easy to monitor high container or high area. I love your channel. The Nitecore MH12SE is the perfect flashlight for in-home security. I live in Victoria, Australia and we have strict laws against weapons, so it makes it hard to protect our home. But with the high lumen and candela rating, plus the PERFECT forward-clicky tail cap, the Nitecore MH12SE would be perfect for my in-home security.
You are not talking about that you only get the maximum brightness and distance for 10-15 seconds before the step down to high vs turbo. You should be comparing these lights at the high setting that can last over time.
this would be the perfect light for my weekend sidehustle as a security guard and ideal for my army service (milita system im Switzerland) but i can't, my SRT7 Revenger from 2013 is still going strong 😂👌🏽
Thank you for all your great content sir. I am a police officer in the UK and have already purchased the P20ix which for me is the perfect floodlight. I am now looking for the perfect EDC spot light for searching large open areas. It seems perfect as it is small, compact and extremely effective at throwing its light. I would be extremely grateful if I was to win this new light as I know just how beneficial it will be to my night time, open area searches.
That MH12S and SE both need an option to clip the NR10 ring closer to the tailcap.... its what kept me from upgrading from the S to the SE. Remember how you use to advertise being able to flip the flashlight with the NR10 ring so that you're able to have a full two handed grip on your firearm??.. Only having slots in the middle of the flashlight for the ring makes it so you can only one hand your gun.... For now I have my NR10 towards the endcap, but not on one of the designated spots.
Working at campsites with wild animals certainly require a light as reliable as the MH12SE!! While being in the campsite, searching for people and directing others are challenging with a low end torchlight. With this newest product, searching for items and people will be easier along side with defence from animals such as wild boars and dogs are definitely a plus. Being able to have a tighter beam, it is easier to view what is ahead to present accidental scenarios such as snake encounters and pot holes.

Been a subscriber for a while. I just liked the video and I work for a logistics company in a yard full of shipping containers and at night or early in the morning. I have to read container numbers from really far away so a light like this would help. I currently have the P10i which is nice but not enough throw.
Night patrols of schools. The schools we go to have large back fields, and it would be time saving having a compact torch that can throw more distance rather than walking the distance when I have other jobs to attend to.
This is definitely the best light for basic user like me to use it in daily activities and also some specific works such as searching or mending things. And hope that I am lucky to win one for myself
Tha mh12se would be fantastic for night shift at the mine I work at! Be great for walk arounds on night shift. The equipment I run out there are literally 20-30ft tall and long. Most flash lights don’t cut it in the dark on nights :b
Love this light, while I do like the new tail cap design I got the NTC2 tail standing tail cap to go with it, this light is amazing, multiple batteries, tail stand capability, with or without the holster, 400 meter beam distance, nice white tint, compact, duel switches, multiple modes, i could go on and on but the point is that this light is superior to other lights on the market
What an amazing flashlight! I’ve been contemplating on getting the MH12S. Would be contented if i get to win the MH12SE giveaway. As for now, i only have the TIP SE from Nitecore. This MH12SE will be a great EDC light for me as working in the oil and gas industry so as to check/inspection on valves, provide extra lighting for my colleagues during my night shifts. I work in the army plus as a arm security at night in a wooden power plant place in Nebraska so the more distance the better I already have the nitecore P10ix I love it but dosent have the distance range as thus one

I work with the dog squad here in AUSTRALIA. One of these lights might stop me falling into holes when my dog is dragging me through the scrub. Chasing bad guys 😂😂
I just got P10i now, but I'm not satisfied with it because it use 21700 i series. And this battery can't be replaced with 21700 from my LR60. And 21700i can't be charge in LR60. It's awful. In addition i have 18650 batteries, but it can't be used in P10i. So now i'm thinking about move to MH12SE although it doesn't have strobe-button on the tail. Maybe Nitecore have a tail switch with strobe/mode button (as for P10i has) ?
All i like about these "compact" lamps - they are finally coming close to my loved Thrunite TN35 (if somebody ever would adapt the magnetic control ring design more its AWESOME!) They have a very nice throw pattern and usable surroundings, the range is because of the small size a bit suffering, but hey thats why my TN35 is huge - its a good thrower especially at 2750lm and also nearly a flooder. In cases i need a proper light, i would just prefer my TN35 because IF i need 2000lm+, they are easily possible sustained (ok, at 2750lm Turbo it gets VERY WARM but i would call it easily sustained!) I switched because of that reason a lot of these regular sized lights with just extreme opposites: - DQG Tiny II 18650, Nitecore TIP, TUP and TUBE etc, also a modded for 16340 Li Ion and high CRI LedLenser F1 in white as "style" EDC, or - Thrunite TN35, Noctigon Meteor M43 Nichia version, a DIY built/modified 75W Xenon thrower for super reach,... As much i liked my good old lights like Led Lenser M7R X and many others in similar size... Its comparable to "compact cameras".... there is not much sense anymore in these, you use for basic photos/videos a Smartphone, if you are serious you have to go "bigger" with a proper camera.
Love my Nightcore Flashlights. Started with a P12GT and now have a MH12S. The only things i really would have like to see on the new MH12SE would be a paddle like on the p20i. Then it would be perfect, especially with the throw of over 400m! That's crazy in this size class. Love it, but please add a paddle in future. I can't use the p20i, because it always starts in turbo mode.
