Did you ever make a video on how much money you are making? You skipped talking about the money. You said $2 on day 2 and then never mentioned anything was actually happening after that. You just said it was inconsistent.
thanks for your question! I've made a video detailing how much RU-vid paid me, and I'm planning a follow-up video to provide more insights soon. the aim of that particular portion was to share my broader experience with making money and managing finances as a creator, rather than focusing solely on specific earnings 😊
Thank you for being so open and honest about your experience!! It's so helpful to hear about the realities of what creating full time might be like and I really appreciate you telling it how it really is! I feel like so many people sugar coat some of the pain points and it's really refreshing to hear a realistic take like yours!!
Very true, loved everything you said this video, especially about thinking that you would have so much time and it could lead to burnout. I have learned in my life that anytime anything becomes a “have to” it’s almost like it’s not fun anymore.
Great video. I think its important for younger people to hear this message from another young person. Too many people wanting to be "RU-viders" and not realizing the realities of content creation vs running a business.
thanks for watching! I definitely agree, there's so many aspects to consider about running a business beyond making content. glad to hear this resonated with you too 💞
as someone who's been on youtube for 10+ years & has fallen off, i appreciate the talk about youtube analytics. youtube studio really brings out some insecurity & stress to me as a youtube creator because the numbers aren't as high as they used to be years ago, it is also partly my fault for losing consistency in 2021 but in 2023 i was trying so hard to try be more consistent and still barely got results. i seriously do think stepping away from youtube studio will help do me wonders & actually allow me to enjoy making videos again like i used to. i don't do it as a full time job, but i still consider it as part time at least. thank you for talking about this
thank you so much for sharing your experience 💓 it's tough when analytics become stressful, but stepping back from the numbers to focus on the joy of creating sounds like a great move. there's definitely more to creating than analytics! sending you positive vibes!! 🫶
You are straightforward! You are totally honest on this video. By sharing your story, it should open people eyes up. Because you have hit on keywords. Burnout and the serious of it. As we are seeing, some RU-vid people become desperate. From posting videos every day. And being stressed in them, too. Hopefully, people will watch this and learn something from you. Because that burnout can affect anyone. Thank you for sharing what it has done to you.
Thank you for this video! 👏 I’ve been doing RU-vid full time for 2 years now and I’ve definitely had times where I’ve burnt out. It is hard to balance everything and RU-vid can take such a hit on your mental health when you feel like certain videos aren’t doing as well as you’d hoped. RU-vid studio doesn’t make it easy when it lets you know just how poorly certain videos do 😅 I appreciate this conversation so more people are aware that being a content creator full time is not nearly as glamorous as people think it is
thank you for sharing too, Gabby 💓 that's amazing, congrats on your 2 years! completely agree that mental health can take a hit, it's just so easy to get caught up in the numbers 🙃 appreciate the support!
It is different, isn't it? I struggle sometimes with thinking about what if I ended up making on RU-vid in addition to my other passion project Embassy Life in DC. I work a full-time job now on top of trying to do both projects on a weekly basis, and boy is that my life summed up in a nutshell. Some points that hit home with me was burnout and mental health. I had that over the weekend when I should have taken a break, but decided to go full steam ahead on everything. Then, the mental hit started taking a toll at work and I need that day job to survive. Being a full-time content creator is not as glamorous as people think it is. Your video delivers value, thank you.
Hey girl! I totally empathize with every you’ve said. I’ve been trying to do RU-vid for years as well but my problem was I felt like I could never figure out my niche because my interests kept shifting. Then RU-vid started to feel like a chore because videos take so long to edit 😩 Social media is hard but I’m not giving up! I’m refocusing my energy on short form content focusing on life abroad in Australia. Thanks for sharing your experience, it really resonates with so many of us! Btw I’m from Canada too :), Vancouver to be specific!
totally get where you're coming from, finding a niche can be tricky - I still feel drawn to exploring new interests! and editing can definitely feel overwhelming at times 😅 love that you're refocusing on content that excites you, especially life in Australia! wishing you all the success, you got this ✨
This is incredible insight. As many people starting off in RU-vid want to go full time (me included) that this helps us manage our expectation and having the correct mindset helps with longevity in the game.
Congratulations! I recently decided to commit full time as well. My son and I have been telling our family's story about living in a small village in Baja Sur, Mexico. So far, it's going great and we're quickly gaining subscribers and watch time. It's fun working together! Keep up the good work. I can relate to a lot of what you shared.
Hi Celine! Thanks for your transparency as a full time content creator. I’m in the beginning stages of building my channel & it’s a lot that goes into creating content & scaling, but i’m grateful for the ability to share what matters to me to help others. I pray your channel continues to grow! 🎉❤
I just got started six weeks ago and at 244 subs, feel like im moving so slow, but trying to stick with it! Amazing that you’re doing this full time now!!! Tired of working for other people.
I think the biggest issue I've faced is the consent questioning of if I'm doing the right thing. I think the financial side of it is going to be the biggest thing for most people as it's mildly terrifying. For me, it's that I feel like I can't properly do anything in general life or for my financial future as your income could just slice in half if not more within a couple months.
I’ve watched a few of your videos and just realised I never subscribed- which is obviously so important of FT creators (which I hope to be myself on day) so just subscribed ❤ it’s interesting to hear your experience xx
I'm thinking about this RIGHT NOW...... i'm really over working for other people and all these jobs..... im a small youtuber and ugh its def a leap of faith. ive always been into entrepreneurship and running things my way.. ive been at my job for 4 months now and am feeling a hugeeee shift in my next moves and growing hungrier to work for myself FULL TIME. same!!!! nothing lined up. just my youtube channel and the faith of my adsense being kind to me in the months ahead 😅
I am absolutely the same way! This is March and I left my 9-5 last year, became a Realtor and realized I didn't like it. So now I am looking for a full/part-time job to make extra monies. But I really love to become a RU-vidr, because other RU-vidrs inspire me. Though it's frustrating, it's also satisfying! Anyways, I am still figuring out what will it be in the future!
I can emphasize to a certain extent, I left my previous job for another job since it was more stable. Not exactly the most fun in the world and incredibly draining. But I hope to make it one day with this RU-vid project and other some ones I have running at the same time.
Thank you for sharing so openly and honestly about your experience as a FT RU-vidr. As someone who’s just recently started creating videos and growing my RU-vid channel with hopes of getting monetized and possibly also going FT in the future, it was really nice to hear your experience ❤
Well I’m glad I’m not the only one refreshing RU-vid studio! After doing music/youtube full time for a few months I honestly can’t wait to get back to a ‘normal’ job for a bit. It’s just too difficult to discipline myself!
Congrats on being able to do this full time! I’m technically doing this full time but not really making enough to support myself. I hope to really be able to increase my views and income as much as I can this year ❤ thank you for sharing your journey and experience!
Thank you for your very honest video! I'm just a beginner in this journey, but I already have a fear of burning out. It's so easy to get drawn into statistics that you even forget why you started all of this in the first place... Peace ✌
3 months ago I quit my career in journalism because of burnout and whilst recovering decided to also take this time to find out what my next career purpose will be. I quickly realized I really wanted to share my story of living with depression and anxiety whilst still enjoying life to the fullest and the best platform to do that (in my experience) is RU-vid. Since I already had an active channel I`ve now decided to have a go at RU-vid full time. Hearing your experience just confirms some of my realizations as well: it`s a job like any other and editing videos takes an enormous amount of time + it takes a long time before you can start making pennies let alone a living. I have a couple of months to fully commit to this experiment so hopefully I can reach enough people to both inspire them to pursue a life they truly love and earn enough to pay my expenses. Fingers crossed!
Just found your channel and I'm back on my RU-vid journey, so this is kismet!! I create videos, a weekly podcast that I've done for 5 years, and my 9-5 in marketing and when I tell you I am constantly dancing w/burnout lol! Definitely interesting hearing your POV of what happens when you are only creating content. You swap one job for another, and burnout can definitely happen still. Subscribing, and thank you for sharing your journey with us!
welcome to the channel!! 🫶 burnout is definitely a challenge for many of us, no matter the profession. I'm glad to hear this resonated with you and wishing you the best of luck with your journey too! 💞
I resonate with this heavily. I myself quit my 9-5 to begin working on my business on X. I had gained some money so I decided to go all in, but doing something you love while getting gutted at the same time hurts, on top of that constantly seeing your account drop lower and lower only adds to the stress on your head, which creates a worse loop of coming from a place of scarcity or lack when pursuing the thing you "love".
I’m new to RU-vid and have been getting videos on how to grow my RU-vid channel! I do animations and that takes a lot of time but I love doing it. I I love your videos so far and learning a lot thank you for this video!
My experiences has been nothing but downs for my RU-vid journey. I want to go full time but mainly for outdoor experiences and just having a good time, but I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I love the process but the results just sucks lol.
You’re killing it and seriously inspired me! I also work in marketing strategy and a lot of your content really resonated with me. I’m in Canada too :)
I feel like you are talking to me. 😅The YT video hamster wheel is real. I, myself, still maintain my regular job because of financial support for my family. Very true of checking the analytics on the YT app constantly 🤣. FT content creation can be a vast open ocean but at the same time can be lonely.
This is what I want to do. I have another channel that is bigger and monetized. I work part time now and do content creation. For me, I think it’s good to have other streams of income too. My metrics fluctuates and it can be exciting and disappointing too, so I only look at my studio once or twice a day now. The money is good but my happiness comes when someone tells me I made their day. That keeps me going.
Thanks, this video is really helpful. I can relate. I have lots of down time in the winter, and I always think I'll utilize it well, but in reality it's really hard to stay focused and driven. I appreciate that you listed your equipment in the description. I was going to ask what you used. I like your camera and voice sounds nice)
glad you found the video helpful, and thank you for the kind words! 💜 winter downtime can definitely be tricky for staying focused, I'm also working on finding balance and a routine that works for me
It's a great feeling getting monetized. I was doing videos on Tiktok for free. Then in my country they started the creativity program. At first, the money wasn't that much, the RPM was horrible but then I got a decent RPM on a video that got 2.5 Million views and made $500 off one video! Then it trickles down to other videos. Unfortunately though, if you stop making videos, the gravy chain stops , haha. Never give up guys. I actually gave up on RU-vid but I suddenly started putting my TikTok videos on shorts and it ignited one of my long form videos. A video I made over 2 years ago started hitting the algorithm and it's nearly making me monitized! (that video is quite terrible, too). So, don't get disheartened if something doesn't take off at the start. It can go viral any time. Just make your best content.
your story is a great reminder to never give up and to keep experimenting with different platforms! thanks for sharing your experience and encouraging others 🫶✨
You need to get a blog and affiliate marketing strategy in place, stat. It is much more lucrative than RU-vid. I've been a creator for over a decade and it has taken me a while to learn what was the most sustainable, but that's it.
First time watcher🎉 I love all that you have to offer here because you seem authentic & sincerely passionate. May Allah give you the highest of esteem needed for a galactic push in your life. Thank you 🎉 Dir. DR. Jerusalem Lung
Definitely experienced the inconsistency in Adsense CPM/RPM right after the holiday season ended. Still figuring out the best way to diversify revenue without trading off the integrity/reputation/persona of my channel 🤔 Thanks for sharing your journey, always interesting to see. Keep up the good work! 👍
This year I am focusing on RU-vid and will try to be consistent (im also a student). I just started posting and I’m always checking RU-vid Studio 😭 it is so annoying
What really never gets covered when doing a proper financial due diligence re RU-vid is : what are the requirements needed to let’s say get a constant $2000 pm? How does one incrementally increase those earnings year on year and lastly does RU-vid keep paying on past creations ?
you've brought up some great points. the requirements for hitting a certain income every month can vary based on several things, like revenue streams, competition, audience engagement, etc. I haven't found a one-size-fits-all approach, which is why I've shared my personal experiences with inconsistency so far for increasing earnings yearly, this was my first year making earnings from content so I'm hoping to figure this out soon! and yes, RU-vid does continue to pay for monetized views on past uploads if you're monetized, so older content can still contribute to your earnings thanks for your questions! 💜
Just need to know how would I actually start my YT content creator journey. A lot of inspiring videos but the push to jump and really take the leap isn’t there…
Hey Celine I love your videos and I especially love the colours and contrast you have in most of your shots! Just curious, what picture profile do you use when recording and do you do much in post production in terms of; contrast / saturation etc? Thanks!
Once you are monetized (1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours) you can begin earning ad revenue. The amount you are paid varies depending on your niche (for example, finance videos pay more than vlogs). You are paid based on views. The more views, the more money. You get paid monthly. Relying only on views for money is highly stressful which is why you need to sell products and/or do sponsorships as a creator to make a living in most cases Subscribers and comments mean nothing in terms of money. They are purely vanity metrics. Only views matter.
Hey Celine. Thanks for sharing your experience being a FT youtube creator. Are you going to have a Patreon option for subscribers that want to support you and your content?👍
thanks so much for watching, Chris! 💜 at this time, I don't think I'll be creating a membership or Patreon, but maybe in the future if there's additional content that makes sense for that type of platform. great to know there is interest in it though! ✨
Wow, Your story is amazing and I admire you so much. You've got a bright future ahead of you, Keep up the good work and Have a wonderful day at work. You're an inspiration to us all, Remember that. Have a nice weekend and Take care. 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🍁👏👏👏🙂👍
that's an interesting question! I think content creators across various platforms face similar challenges, it would be intriguing to see a comparative study on this 🙌
Well, I reckon now you got some work to do then ;) hehe I think there are no other videos about this issue so far that has been covered by other youtubers, and it would be good to see if it's only related to RU-vid, and if it is, then it raises the question what is YT doing that's alienating its creators and viewers alike? @@Celinelikedion
thank you to sharing your own experience. i also start my own channel to tell people about my contry - Vietnam now. i hate to say that but it's so many hard things to do but we have to try right?
I know exactly what you mean with the first point you mentioned - it's too real. Almost like the job played a role to be the motivator to really do YT even more. Also, are you Canadian by chance?
@Celinelikedion Hello Celine🌼 Wow, I cannot believe that it is now 4 months since you left your job....It has gone by so quickly.😮👍 You sure have learned so much. I have heard from other creators that doing you tube full time is hard work, but that hard work pays off in the end. It is like a job and for some it isn't a hobby anymore due to the business/earning a living side of things. I think if you do a job you love and you do it for yourself, not for others, then in some ways it doesn't feel like a job. It sounds like you tube is more like working for yourself , like contract work and you are so right, you have to keep on top of finances and diversify income as income can be sporadic. This is why it is always important to have a Plan B.👍 Thanks for this thoughtful video, Lara🐨🦘
hi Lara! ✨ time flew by, I can't believe it either hahah definitely learned a lot through the months. I agree, there's a lot of similarities with RU-vid compared to other freelance or self employed jobs, and it's been a learning process overall! glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for tuning in 💞🫶
Hey Celine, I appreciate your transparency in this video. You should be proud of yourself for taking the leap of faith. You saved money in preparation also. Smart. For me personally You Tube is my digital art gallery. I enjoy designing my thumbnails. That's a new painting for me. I'm a ways from monetization so i'm going to create my own world here in the meantime. It's my city dreams that will be the pulse of my creativity. When I do get monetized i'll appreciate it but I'll have other streams of income .Anyway i'm fortunate i've found your channel and podcast. They're valuable. YT's algorithm put a inspiring video in my feed because of your video that I shared with you on IG. It blended with yours seamlessly. Till next time! P.o.p.
hey P.o.p., thanks so much for your kind words! 💜 love your perspective on RU-vid, your dedication and positive attitude is super inspiring. keeping creativity at the heart of what you do is so important! really glad you're finding value in the channel and podcast, thanks for sharing the video! 🫶
