The bit about the candy makes so much sense. I’ve been getting tired of my local at times trying to sit too deep for the good canyon ones and I agree sometimes we just need some inside goody candy not the timeless stuff! What a discussion with Lucas and love your co host ! We need more of this❤

When I surf big waves, and I’m out the back paddling for them, I never really get scared, but as soon as I’m paddling back out in those same waves I’ll be totally scared of getting slammed by one. Something about looking down a wave is less scary than looking up at one. Happens all the time where I’m like fearless charging big close out sets and then when you get inside, your like, “dam! That’s gnarly! Did I just get one like that? “
As a dental assistant the part where you guys were talking about not brushing then Jamie taking on the barrel spit had me rolling 😂 swishing with the holy water 😅 I only surf novelty but I get just as psyched! Haha
Jaime visualizing his sesh before it happens is extremely smart, and backed by science. Its neural priming, and it works. Visualizing what it feels like to make the drop, pump, etc would be the best way to do it. Not just to "see" it. But to feel it. Near equal improvement compared to doing the activity itself vs visualizing it. I could go on but don't feel like pulling up my lecture slides....

I watched this last night after enjoying some devils lettuce and let me tell you, that was the hardest I've laughed in so long. Not only from the farting in the barrel spiel and Masons diamonds and rubies analogy, but when Jamie asks a question that turns into a 5 minute rant and then he turns it back to Mason or Lucas and they are just sitting there trying to decipher the last 5 min of what Jamie was trying to ask/say. Maybe I was just so stoned this was all I could think about the whole time, but I was fkn rolling crying laughing. Whether or not you guys indulged before recording, I think Lucas may be the only NS surfer to match Masons friedness. And they both are animals in the water, Lucas is such an under rated charger and he never says much on the vlogs so it's cool to hear him talk about stuff. All that said, I can't wait to hear the next pod

Cool info on that wave and crowd vibe. Feel that since I'm not a pro surfer, I have no business paddling out there. Too many people making too much money getting pics and what not. Ton of cameras means someone is getting paid when their sponsor sees their logo on X will 100k hits. And for hobbyists, so much technology these days to help you find killer waves. Been on some killer reef breaks in SE Asia with 4 people out, so it seems to even out in my mind.
I was on flight 15 with you brother. I didn’t wanna bother you, but I walked to the front just to see if you were real. My entire trip has been made. I was sitting with another surfer who hits lowers a lot too and man we fanboy’d for like 30 minutes on the plane. Hope you got home safe brother
