The saddest thing is that Palpatine wasn’t needed for this civil war to occur, between Griveous’ backstory, Jabiim and the other mid and outer rim worlds, it was only a matter of time.
I would argue he’s the reason there was a war and not just a split of planets from the republic as he made sure both sides were armed heavily and being heavily armed meant both sides needed more money thus shady actions
that was the hole point of the separatist movement. these worlds were tired of the core and inner rim worlds getting more attention, unless the planet had something the republic wanted that is.
The Battle of Jabiim is one of my favorite battles of all time. The repercussions of Anakin's abandonment of the Loyalists were covered in the Sins of the Father story arc.
Thought the same ; through the scenes, the conditions of the war, the political implications and all the causalities, this is one of the time you could feel the full « Wars » in the story…
Spunky 1608 first one I ever got was in a Star Wars action figure pack I got when I was a kid and it was one about Cade skywalker and I remember being like who the hell is this but it was a suppppper good read
During that war, the whole galaxy was divided in half, and there were few planets you could truly blame for what they did, but Jabiim was surely no one of them, war its the REAL hell
@@crushglobalists8640 I was just referring to how both battles had the clones fighting insurgents and not battle droids and how the evacuation after the Battle of Jabiim was similar to the Fall of Saigon.
What did you think the Republic's motives were? They were the ones who refused to let the CIS peacefully secede, did you really think of them as anything but conquerors?
God I wish this would’ve been an arc in the Clone Wars. Like have Ashoka overhear some clones talking about Jabiim. And she asks Anakin about it. Then he gets this angry look on his face. And we get a flashback of Anakin’s time on Jabiim.
I love when you combine the material with your own battle maps. It makes it more interesting in my opinion, and helps to visualize better the environment.
Loyalists: We knew your father. Luke: he was a great jedi- Loyalists: He was a coward and a traitor who abandoned us to die after forcing us to sacrifice anything. Luke: That's not true! Loyalists: How would you know!
I would hate for it to become new canon, because almost everything in the new canon is trash, everything that used to be awesome was ruined, Ventres, Maul, Grievous, the clones, all their new canon versions are complete trash, that's just my opinion anyway🗑️
Why the heck didn't the Republic account for the weather conditions in what kind of equipment they brought along? The planet had been a member world for three thousand years: You think they would be keenly aware of the weather conditions, and hence the muddy terrain at that point. They clearly had time to plan the operations too, which is plenty of time to look over meteorological information on the planet to figure out what kind of terrain they will be fighting in. Who the heck planned this operation to begin with?
@@closegripbenchpress489 Thor, maybe, but the rest can be killed by a lightsaber. Getting to them with a lightsaber might be tricky, but again, break their neck using the force. Or use the force to throw them into something until they black out, then stab them with a saber.
@@jamesdavis9036 i said common heroes. aka captain america and stuff like that. they're hypersonic at speed and most can tank more than a lightsaber. ironman solos the star wars universe
I do not think I would send a single shuttle or gunship through Jabiim's upper atmosphere. *Upper* atmosphere. Sending in acclamators to land during a break in weather could land thousands of troops, have a heavily armed mobile base right at your disposal, and a means of retreat easily at hand. While acclamators are impractical in quick battles, you'd need the greater troops and protection they offer in a campaign like this. While the landing would be difficult, ultimately, I would rather risk my forces die in the upper atmosphere than for them to be bled out on a dozen mud pits. Let the nationalist run towards our cannons in vain before the Republic loses due to seeking a fight they cannot win.
The biggest issue that I see behind these massive defeats that the Republic suffered was a constant underestimation of their enemies capabilities. The Republic depended on sheer numbers of clones and the ability of the jedi so overwhelm the droids who they thought would be easy to sweep aside. What the Republic failed to consider time and time again was the innovativeness and creative tactics of separatist commanders. The republics and jedi's overconfidence was their undoing in nearly every defeat they suffered.
I remember taking the bus from middle school to the high school. Reading every single star wars comic the library had. Before taxes, bills and rent. There was only star wars comics and homework that I didn't finish
Im still curious about what the coruscant guard was doing during the invasion of coruscant, there was a large garrison of them on the planet and the must have done something, maybe protecting the chancellor until grievous killed them all
Planning on running a FFG SWRPG game with Rise of the Separatists on Jabiim, and even after reading the graphic novel about this event, this map and visualization was PHENOMENAL!! Thank you for making this!
Honestly rather thought it was despicable of him to not stay and fight or evacuate as many as he could. He left behind the Jabimii loyalists to be sacrificed, despite having having risked and lost everything to serve the Republic
@@NothingtoseeHere.Movealong Arguably Anakin made the best tactical choice for the republic. He saved untold hundreds of hardened clone veterans and their wargear. But morally he made the worst desicion proving the nationalists right. His choices were awful to start with: 1 save the loyalists buying the lives of several hundred innocent people. Or 2 save the now veteran clone soldiers and their incrediblely expensive equipment. It was lose lose.
That makes Anakin a douche...not a good person... Remember the quote from Carth Onasi in KOTOR? "Warriors prey on the weak and innocent. Soldiers protect the weak and innocent, usually from warriors". To be fair though, Anakin was ordered by the chancellor to retreat from Jabiim, likely because the chancellor didn't want to see him killed so early on in the war. So he was basically given a direct order to leave the Jabiim loyalists to their fate.
@@thatoneinfidel5481 I understand the overall strategic benefit, but it's a propaganda and political loss aswell. Furthermore, the only solution I would've found morally acceptable would be to take a mix of loyalists and clonetroopers, atleast showing solidarity with them.
@@NothingtoseeHere.Movealong that would have been a better solution but at the same time an akward one cause the only truely fair way to do would be something akin to a lottery which still leaves potential for loss of political capital (leave behind some over all) which granted is a better net loss than all of the loyalists. Its a very interesting Problem.
If the Jedi were truly keepers as they said they were, they wouldn’t have so blindly followed the republic into these unjustified campaigns. They deserved what came to them.
cesar febres I agree, but it’s not like the Jedi haven’t done similar things in the past. They’ve killed groups of Padawans for the mere chance that one of them may become a Sith Lord in the future. Seems a bit redundant to defend them on that pretext alone.
Has anyone noticed that lightsabers sound different when ignited by certain people? It can't be because of the force or its color because General Grevious isn't force sensitive and he uses Jedi lightsabers.
Also, can we get a shout out to the Seps in this comic, who went above and beyond to support the nationalists against Republic imperialism. I mean, Dooku himself sent assassin droids and gave command permission to Alto. If this battle was depicted in the Clone Wars show, I'm willing to bet that some "tactical droid" would be given command permissions from Alto, and the Seps would be depicted as inept as they usually are in the show.
Man I wish the darker nature of the Clone Wars comics that the show failed to capture. In the comics, Jedi were being killed left and right. They weren't as overpowered than the show depicts.
the dumbest thing about the clone wars to me is how the war was too short yet obiwan and others had time to fight in many space and planetary battles in all corners of the galaxy and have good share of bouty hunter and coruscant intrigue missions aswell . its just too much for a too short period . it should have been as long as the 21 years long galactic civil war just to fit all of content inside
If Obi-Wan had not been caught in the explosion, could they have defeated the nationalist and the CIS? Everything seems to have gone down hill after he had gone missing.
i read the book from the library of one of my middle schools and it's awesome and the Jabiimii can be compared to Swedes and Vikings (my maternal great great grandparents are descended from Vikings)
Wow! I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Legends, mostly because I'm not much of a comic or book reader I mostly like to stick to TV, but I have heard about stuff and read stuff on the Wookiepedia, including about this battle, but until you explained it in such detail I never knew how bad it really was. Impressive you always give a lot of great knowledge on these things. Also, for battles, you could take a look at, how about the Second Battle of Geonosis. Sure the Republic won, but it wasn't easy, as Landing at Point Range showed, plus they had to commit a lot of resources to take a planet they had already taken before, thus having to backtrack, which is never a good in war to have to retake something after already using up resources and energy on it the first time.
no it's worse actually the US treats them like foreign countries while claiming no sovereignty over them we just wanna buy there shit the republic is there sovereign government who neglected them then decided to essentially tax away there shit
Well, it used to be that way, but since America gets almost all of its oil from itself or Canada nowadays, they don't invade countries for oil anymore(or rather for the last few decades), they invaded countries for geopolitics.
One thing I've always questioned about these Star Wars battles is why wouldn't orbital bombardment ever used? I'm not taking about a base delta zero, but they always ignored their most capable artillery platforms, their ships in orbit.
The Jabimi loyalists look like a mixture of rebels from the Rebel Alliance and marines/army troopers from Halo. You'll see what I mean in the final shot of the video.
Ah, so this is the Republic's Teutoburg Forest.... Edit: How the hell did Anakin stay so calm and cool for most of the Clone Wars despite living through the Star Wars equivalent of the Somme???
The thing he forgot to mention is the fact that his gmod sever takes seven years to load and then crash, and the fact that the roblox server is under construction
Honestly, a lot of servers take a lengthy time to load, especially on bad wired/wireless connections. They have too many additions for their own good. And keeping track of addons in collections is difficult.
I always return to your very early video of jabiim as it felt like a real war that happened long ago, and those bagpipes man, since then i always wanted to know which one is as it gave the vibe it took place like in scotland or britain a long ago, please let me know what track is because man it fitted so well that narrative and is my favorite of your old series of battles that crippled the republic
The weirdest thing about Jabiim is that later the Nationalists have gladly joined with the Empire. Despite the fact that the Republic was too evil for their tastes!
How is that weird? I believe it was mosty the fact the Republic was too incompetent or uncaring to provide help when they actually needed it that turned them off. If you're paying taxes and keep to the rules then it is logically that you expect the other side to keep their end of the bargain as well, in this case offering protection and assistance in times of need. As it stands the Republic failed providing aid during a pandemic outbreak, pirate raids and a full on invasion by Trandoshans. The republic was evil in the eyes of the nationalists as it didn't keep its side of the bargain with all results included. If the Empire later on did provide this assistance then the cause of the problems is gone.
