The Truth Behind the Super Hornet UFO Encounters 

Ward, I gotta tell ya, I spent 21 years in the Navy, many nights on the flight deck and I have seen things that are unexplainable. Once, in the I.O., in 1985 I saw balls of light move down the stbd side of the USS Kitty Hawk that resembled white lighted balloons, then all of a sudden move away so rapidly that they went from around 50 knots to mach 3+ in 3 seconds. I reported this to Flight Deck Control and was told to get back to work. Others saw them too, we just went back to work and realized that no one would believe us. I am convinced what we saw is "not of this world"

My grandfather was a Boeing engineer for 39 years and retired 1976 He had some stories that I found to be amazing as a child but here we are today with stuff he talked about Very interesting Thanks Ward

Dismisses aliens because there's no life Mars... That's like someone saying he's alone on planet earth because next door's apartment is empty...

The biggest problem with this argument is that these things are not only being encountered in these 2 spaces. This is and has been a world wide thing.

The most amazing thing about all of this is how utterly clean your living room is.

I was on this work up and was actually helping the air framers from VFA-41 on det from VFA-115. I was one of the guys that pushed the bird back into its parking spot after it landed. I remember the pilots coming back in and they were freaking out in a good way, then all the chatter started in the hanger bay with everyone talking about the UFO.

My grandfather was an airforce pilot and described in great detail seeing three UFO's in a triangle formation hovering 100 feet above a lake in Tennessee for 45 minutes before shooting straight up and disappearing in the sky in one second. All his neighbors and my grandma saw it too. Apparently a police helicopter even came out to investigate

I always sit in my lounge wearing a flight suit.

I can see a bunch of aliens hanging out in a bar swapping stories about how they spent the day freaking out pilots.

It appears that I am not permitted to post a link to the article but it was recently reported by a respectable media source that the US Navy filed a patent in 2018 describing LIPF generated decoys. The drawings are essentially identical to the Nimitz Tic-tacs. Why is no one talking about that?

The issue I have with suggesting it is a test program is this : these sightings are not new. Sure the ability to have IR lock on them with our latest generation of technology is, but the reality is, the sightings go way back (decades and even centuries).

I worked for 8 years as an aviation maintenance line mechanic. I have talked to hundreds of pilots, and I can confirm that many of them have seen airborne phenomenon that they can't explain. But very few of them will talk about it, and when they do it is only with people who they trust. If they say anything openly their airline will send them for psychological evaluation and that's not a good thing to have on your record.

Ward, I'm familiar with David Fravor's sighting. Based on another documentary he was in where he demonstrated his leadership and skills as an aviator, I have no doubt of what he saw.

I had a teacher in high school who was ex-USAF. He said he never saw a UFO, but he saw radar tracks that were technically impossible.

I was on the Kitty Hawk from 2001-2005. Pilots would debrief in the intel SCIF. I can’t remember how many times pilots soberly detailed seeing shiny metallic orbs “playing” with them and doing maneuvers no earthly craft could do.

Interesting perspective from a Navy pilot, but I disagree with your conclusion, Ward. I was a senior manager of engineering for Lockheed Martin on the F-35. My role was verification of mission capabilities in the battlespace environment. I held CIA clearances. In all test programs, the number one rule never, NEVER to be broken, is health and safety. We would never do anything in a test program that might get someone hurt. Testing strange craft of this type over populated areas, where someone might be driving their kids home from soccer practice and might be distracted by our hardware and end up wrapped around a tree, would be a violation of test protocols that we would never, never, NEVER allow, not for ANY reason. Not to mention, we would never allow someone to see these things who have not been read into the program. To my knowledge, there has never been a US military test program that behaves as carelessly and recklessly as what we've seen from these craft. We just don't do that kind of thing.

The apparent disinterest by military leadership would seem to indicate they know full well what these objects are, and either view them as no threat, or a threat they cannot compete with.

Really enjoy your cogent review of this stuff. I am 73 years old, ever since I first watched 'Forbidden Planet' back in 1958, I have been 'hooked' on anything flight, or space. Over the years I came to grasp the physical reality of the size and configuration of the universe and, the limits of our physical science and capabilities. Even though my mind says, 'No This Is Not Possible', my heart wants to believe that something is " Out There ".

I saw a “tick tac” shaped object moving what seemed like normal jet speed over Tampa Bay on what I thought was an approach to Tampa International Airport on a clear starlit night in 1972 or 73 from a park in NE saint Pete. It suddenly appeared to come to a stop, stayed stationary for a few seconds then shot off at about a 45 degree vertical angle to the north and disappeared in an instant. Never told anyone about it except my son 48 years later. I reasoned it must have been an approaching meteorite that bounced off the atmosphere.

I’ve heard people tie themselves in knots to make aliens plausible, but this is the first time I’ve heard someone tie themselves in knots to eliminate extraterrestrials as an explanation.

Great video, earned a new subscriber! One point I would like to make though is that you mention that these things were seen in military no-fly zones, then ask why they aren't being seen elsewhere. I immediately thought to myself - well that's where the planes are. Lol. And in the case of the west coast tic-tac, it wasn't even the plane that made initial contact - it was the ship. No ship, no sighting by the F-18s (ship was tracking for days and no planes had spotted it). If there are no planes in an area, or just planes without advanced radar, of course they won't been seen. You have to consider that if something can be piloted while pulling 600 to 700 Gs and go 13,000 MPH in our atmosphere is way, WAY beyond what we know. To dismiss the idea because 'Mars has no evidence of a civilization capable of interplanetary travel' is a puzzling comment in an otherwise excellent commentary. Just my 2 cents.

Good points Michael. A moving LIPF image can be done in most any undergraduate physics lab. So it is no surprise that with sufficient budget that DARPA could scale it up in a reasonable timeframe.

It’s my favorite position to hear, when skeptics concede that UAPs violate a number of known physical laws, then go on to claim that it cannot be of extraterrestrial origin because the rapid interstellar travel would violate a number of known physical laws.

These craft though are maneuvering exactly how Bob Lazar said they behaved in the 80s. Also interesting is that the new whistleblower Air Force Intelligence Officer is reporting to Congress that the AF has a UAP retrieval program has lots of captured aircraft of non terristrial origin and dead recovered ET pilots. So there’s that.

I was stationed at NAS Miramar (Top Gun Central) in the Black Lions VF213 squadron, I am proud to say.I was an electrician for F4 Phantoms and F14 Tomcats. I have a great respect for the pilots that I worked for. Those pilots had some " hormigas culonas". Thanks for the great videos and the explanations. Much respect for you also.

I have a bud that is a retired Colonel with 28 years in USAF. He told me there were some "unexplainable sights" in the skies. He was stationed at 43rd and 1st fighter wings as an F-22 pilot.

Hey Ward, I love your channel and get riveted listening to your professional demeanor & splendid info. I was born in the late 50’s and lived 5 miles from a SAC base in New England. My home was in the flight path of the base. I have seen & heard MANY military aircraft. I was always looking up into the sky, and knew what type of aircraft I was looking at. When I was 16 I saw a reportable UFO anomaly. I reported it to the sheriffs dept on the phone mins later. I thought that was the end of it. Several mos later I had a visitor come to my home unannounced. He was a “private” UFO investigator complete with a business card that he gave me! He spent almost 2 hrs interrogating me, including going to the precise spot I saw the UFO. He refused to answer any of my questions directed to him until he was done asking me. He later said that based on location and timeline that included other sightings they were able to track the UFO in the area of several towns. He then left, never seeing him again. This was in the early 70’s, I guess during operation Blue Book. After 20 yrs I lost his biz card 😕 A few years later I dated a girl that had an uncle that was a local cop. He was part of “Incident in Exeter” He was on scene closely observing a UFO hovering then taking off. He gave me a detailed description of his on scene experience. It was in the same general area I saw my sighting. This area was a hotspot for a couple decades. And we were 5 mi from an Air Force base. Yup they exist. But I highly doubt that they would be from our solar system (Mars etc).

As a WSO in the 80s flying RF-4s, I photographed a UFO with the cameras on board the jet. Pilot could see it below, but I could not due to intakes. Pilot wanted to go inverted to give me a look, but I said no, because no one would believe us. I said let's take some photos. When we landed I took the film to the PIP to develop. I turned ever camera on board the jet. So the crew chef helped with the canisters. Meanwhile the pilot turned in his gear at life support and went to operation to brief the rest as to what he saw. When I approach the steps to OPS, I was greeted by a 05 stating I did not see anything, and it's TS. I didn't see anything, because of the intakes, and the object was below out flight level, and we passed over it, before it passed us like we were sitting still, and did a square 90 degree turn and climb, to be out of sight in the blink of an eye. All I saw was a blur as it passed us, because my head was in the cockpit running switches for the cameras. Needless to say in debrief, I was told that all the cameras had failed. Right!

Well, Ward. Where does this leave us? Glad to think it’s one on our programs. I just reflect back on the SR-71 and U-2 programs that were developed prior to computers. What we could be doing now is beyond the limits of conventional thought. Stay on it. Good stuff.

This was my first time watching your videos and for once after visiting many different sites we get an individual such as you that speaks with authority without adding in some far-fetched ideas. Thing is, these things are not only seen in military operation areas. These specific observations are only the most resent episodes that CAN NOT BE DISMISSED out of hand, there is similar footage taken by Mexican fighter pilots, not to mention the countless anecdotal observations by commercial airline pilots, and the millions of observations by average citizens. That stretched back far into history. Therefore I think of the alien possibility holds just as much water as the black ops possibility. And they are not mutually exclusive.

Saw one of these UAPs long before they were known as UAPs. I was surf fishing late at night summer of 1999 in Sandbridge Beach, VA. My friend and I were 14 or 15 and watched as a "star" accelerated and decelerated while moving in a huge triangular pattern. We ran back to house and got our fathers who were also witness to this things which was btw operating in or just off the edge of the VACAPES range. For about fifteen years we four felt very sure but very odd about what we had all witnessed. When the reports starting dripping out from the aircrews it was VERY clear that we had seen the same things they had/have been seeing out there. We're not talking about terrestrial stuff here imho unless we've been testing the same development craft in plain view of the public for 20+ years without it progressing or being revealed. Not to mention these things are whipping in and out of some very high Mach numbers without any perceptible form of propulsion or noise whatsoever. There are no alloys currently known to man that can withstand the forces we are talking about here without powdering completely. From insanely high Mach numbers to complete standstills INSTANTANEOUSLY is what this thing was doing over and over again and moving in very precise and sharp angles. Lol if the Chinese or Russians got to that level of propulsion and metallurgy on the pennies they spent on defense compared to us during those decades......lol.....well then I'm the Easter Bunny. No they aren't ours or theirs and they aren't from Mars or anywhere "close by". These things must be from some very advanced civilizations who are looking at us the way we look at an anthill. I hope I live long enough to see and hear the full story, but I can assure you, just like all the other eyewitnesses, you won't believe this stuff until you see it.

I was on Nimitz when that encounter as an Avionic tech rep. The whole airwing knew about it by the end of the night but none of the pilots would/could talk about it.

A dear friend of mine saw a ufo as close as a rock throw, back in the 70’s. My stepfather saw one out of his kitchen window. He went to the bathroom window to have a different angle but there was nothing. He returned to the kitchen window and it had not moved an inch. He says it was about 200 feet away. Now these two events were in small villages in Quebec, Can. I wonder what the US gov. Would want with our small country side if we want to stick with option 1.

My dad is as in the army in the 50s and they tracked a UFO on radar, well once they were able to lock on. It left the trailing fighters like they were standing still. After, his crew were told to forget what they saw.

The first well-known UFO sighting occurred in 1947, when businessman Kenneth Arnold claimed to see a group of nine high-speed objects near Mount Rainier in Washington while flying his small plane. Arnold estimated the speed of the crescent-shaped objects as several thousand miles per hour and said they moved “like saucers skipping on water.” In the newspaper report that followed, it was mistakenly stated that the objects were saucer-shaped, hence the term flying saucer.

The Skipper is a good man. 100% believe what he says. Love your idea of a test program. I remember during the F117 development there where many triagal UFOs.

That's unfortunate, you didn't mention one of the best parts of the story. When the tic tac showed up 60 mi away that was actually the destination that they were going to for maneuvers before they encountered the tic tac. So, the tic tac had specifically jumped to the very spot they were going to and was waiting for them, when they finally reached their maneuvers location. Which really set them off because how would the tic tac know where they were going for maneuvers?

Think everyone needs to read “UFOs And The National Security State” by Richard Dolan. There are two volumes. This goes back 70 years.. we weren’t flying these things 7 decades ago, that dog don’t hunt. :)

Very interesting video and I love your insight into this. However I see one big problem with your theory on it being a test aircraft. If indeed these are test aircraft and they were getting these F-18 pilots to unwittingly be in a test, would they have been willing to risk the life of its F-18 pilots ( who just may have engaged the said test aircraft) and a million dollar aircraft? Not only that but also the life of the pilot in a supposed test aircraft and what would likely be in an even more expensive aircraft? I have to admit I don't know much about how the Air Force and navy operates in their testing. I was just an old army grunt but when we were testing things out in training in the Army, we never used soldiers as live bait with live ammo. Seems to me that that would be an unnecessary risk and perhaps a very costly one.

My dad was a conductor for the SP Railroad. I clearly remember him talking about UFOS and describing the "non- ballistic" type flight that he and his crews would see all the time as his train was headed to the west coast out over the desert. I have personally witnessed non-ballistic flight on three different occasions in my life.

I started flying when I was 14. Was commercially rated as soon as I was old enough and same for my ATP. 35 year professional flying career and I have twice seen something in the sky that I can't explain. I can't tell you what they were. I CAN tell you what they weren't.

I stumbled on your channel about two weeks ago, and I'm not disappointed! The insight that you give into different subjects is fascinating and entertaining. I'll definitely be sticking around.

My uncle, a USAF lieutenant (would be promoted to a USAF Lt. Colonel), and Ph.D. Electrical Engineer was piloting a transport craft over the Rocky Mountains in 1952. Over Utah and Colorado (I don’t know the altitude) late afternoon, he saw what he described as a 300 ft long shiny metallic cigar shaped and proportioned object without windows, wings, contrail, exhaust or any know method of propulsion, that appeared approximately 1/8 mile off his port cockpit. It paralleled them for 25-30 min then accelerated almost instantaneously. Flying away to the northwest. This was witnessed by his entire crew. They decided not to disclose the sighting for fear of reprisals. I doubt that US or Peer nations had that technology at the time. It is an unknown. No need to go beyond that characterization.

I'm in the UK (...and a pilot.). I saw one of these 'Tic-Tac' objects at very close quarters way back in the early 1980's when a friend & I were out for a run. Totally silent - pretty spooky - but there was NO WAY it was anything 'conventional'. We didn't report or talk about it at the time either. I can tell you what the object wasn't - but have no idea what is actually was. We both saw it under a low cloudbase...silvery grey. Maybe 50' long, cruising a couple of hundred-feet up, doing around a steady 80mph, on a steady southerly heading. No sound, no nav' lights, no beacons. No wings etc, but did seem to have 'portholes'...which showed-up clearly. This was 1982 I think.

A buddy of mine saw something very similar during Vietnam, at roughly the same area as the Nimitz encounters. An odd light hovering over the ship, behind low-lying clouds. The Captain was rousted awake, while large directional spotlightlights were set up. 'The moment' those spotlights were turned on- the object instantaneously accelerated towards the horizon, stopping in the distance- where it changed shape and color; from a solid white light, to a reddish hovering figure 8

It's very hard for people who have not studied ufology to get a grip on it because it is such a huge change in what you were told. But after many years of UFO research I can assure you this is not a rare incident. And it goes back to the very beginning of the human race. We will see more.

I've been watching your videos for almost a week now, this one has really gotten my attention. I have to agree with the idea that these sightings are of an upcoming technology that hasn't been publicly released. We live in an age where if it can be thought of, it can be made.

I always keep in mind that during his retirement speech in 1994, Ben Rich, then head of Lockheed Skunk Works, said "We are working on technologies that are 50 years ahead of what is in the public domain." and "We have the technology to take ET home."

Couldn’t it be also that the conformed sighting are taking place in these training areas because of the massive amount of equipment and experts there and the area is also isolated which allows for conformation? There are sightings elsewhere but they cannot confirmed at the same manner.

I love how people act like you can‘t trust those fighterpilots. I mean, we trust them to fly a hundred million dollar warmachine, we trust them to put their lives on the line to save ours. Why wouldn‘t we trust them when they tell us that there is something they can‘t explain?

I have 12 years in military radar, 10 as a military pilot, and 30 as a commercial pilot. I never saw anything even remotely like a UFO. However, I totally agree with Ward’s analysis. I flew around Area 51, operated a radar that could look deep into it, and once even walked for a couple days outdoors (& overnight) in an adjacent military operating area. Never saw anything! But it’s always been my impression that the military promoted the entire alien notion so that IF somebody did see something they are developing there, they could write it off as “little green men”. The LGM thing allows sightings to be explained as either: 1) there are no LGMs, so the observer is a nutjob. Or 2) If there are LGMs, that’s not our stuff you saw, it’s the alien’s 👽! And if Chinese naval pilots start seeing “aliens” during their exercises, that’s still not us. Pretty convenient, don’t you think?

The stealth fighter was flying for a full DECADE BEFORE the public knew about it near the time of Desert storm. Aka-"HAVE BLUE". GREAT EXPLANATION Ward!

As a physicist, I've been on the fence about the alien hypothesis. However, the best white-paper human theories on this kind of non-inertial (anti-higgs field) propulsion would require never before observed exotic material in quantities equal to the mass of at least a large star, if not an entire galaxy. The notion that these objects are being built or even controlled by the US government or any other current day human organization, is frankly not remotely plausible.

He doesn’t account for all of the sightings world wide. The difference in technology between what we have and what we witness are far far far beyond a “leap”

Ward, you are one of the few people that I consider credible and honest enough not to give us a bunch of sensational bs in order to elevate your status in any way. I appreciate your steady well thought out reasoning based on your extensive experiences. Thank you for your interesting and informative videos. I also must say that I cannot begin to understand what technology must be behind these incredible sightings. If you are correct about them, then we are truly being kept in the dark about some really exciting possibilities. I hope we all know the truth some day.

Thanks Ward, this really is the first rational video that I've seen on this. I was in the Navy from 89-93, Stationed on an FFG out of Long Beach. I'm very familiar with the area from Catalina to San Clemente Island down Southern Tip of Baja. Never, not once was anything like these craft reported.

" We got them on visual, radar, video and FLIR only where we do military exercises so that means they are only at those locations. We never caught them where we were not present." Brilliant.

Your theory that the UAPs are only a part of a training program is less than believable.

Mr Carroll, unexplained aerial phenomena have been witnessed since time immemorial. I would not believe that all unexplained aerial encounters are all advanced man made futuristic projects. Could it be that some of these craft are interdimensional in nature and origin ?

I appreciate the perspective on US dark programs, but from an engineering perspective. We do not have the capacity in energy manipulation. Meaning the battery or reactor tech is just not there yet.

Thanks for the briefing Sir! I am a retired electrical engineer and a US Army Veteran (1970's) and have followed any credible scientific research into UFS's/UAP's since the 1960's. I fully agree with your analysis and conclusion unequivocally. I won't go into details in public but I personally am not certain what we are dealing with as to technology; having studied physics and mechanical engineering and I've flown a Cessna 150 and a Cessna 172 and the underwater travel part I cannot imagine what it would take to make the transition from air to water at those velocities, I got bupkis and my MENSA score at 26 was 138...

Well there’s no life on Mars that could make it’s way to earth so it rules out anything extra terrestrial! Genius just sheer and utter Genius!

One, you don't send unknown aircraft (are we admitting UFO technology here?) into a training area. Especially for work ups. Two, the military has spent a lot of money training these pilots who have witnessed these things. In my opinion, something weird is going on.

Mooch, I’m a bit late posting on this video, and probably someone else has already posted this thought, but to dismiss out of hand the idea that these objects could not be extraterrestrial vehicles just because one or two of the rocky planets in our own local solar system appear to be devoid of intelligent life, is quite shortsighted and surprising uncharacteristic of your usual insightful and spot-on commentaries we are fortunate enough to receive on your excellent channel.

Ward- My own photos of sightings....."crafts" tells me it's #3 option, Aliens. Extraterrestrial in nature, our physics and physicality DON'T hold up to the G-loads, Yaw rates, velocities, etc. They've been over my block, my neighborhood, witnessed over Elliott Bay (Seattle). I even have a photo of one that surfaced from under water to 20ft. above- in a hover....that shadowed a Coast Guard chopper. Over 14 years, 50+ sightings; KNOW what I saw, and unlike military test areas, my own sightings in Seattle has me a believer. I have MANY, MANY stories I could tell....most hair raising, but it's a 4 beer minimum if we ever got together.

There's no aliens on Mars so it's probable that it's us. Kinda like when I go to the edge of an ocean and don't see fish therefore realize there must be no fish in the ocean. Funny how they've had these secret craft for centuries.

I know many people in military who saw ETs. A few stories were scary too. Ive seen 2, 1986 and 2002. Fast, silent and awesome.

Great presentation but Ward sadly dismisses the Alien option because thus far we have not found life on Mars (what !!)..........how about all of the vast amount of real UFO encounter data or the fact that it is estimted that there are hundreds of billions of planets in our galaxy alone within a Universe of hundreds of thousands of billions of galaxies not forgetting that most planets will be billions of years older than the Earth! Just a thought.

Just wanted to tell my experience with UFOs, we were staying at a beach house near a marine base in Jacksonville NC. One early morning when I couldn’t sleep I decided instead of getting up I would try and give it one more shot so I layer back down and was looking around the room. It wasn’t very dark. maybe there was a full moon. As I looked around I noticed the upper left corner looked very weird. It was way to dark to be a shadow and it was hard to look at because it hurt my eyes. It felt like when you were a kid and you put you grandfathers glasses on. It stained the eyes. Since I was now wide awake, I sat up and tried to make sense of this, as I can best describe, it was a black cloud. As I laid back down, all of a sudden a little white orb shot out of the corner and zipped around the room. Then another and another. Five in all. They flew around until they notice that I was watching them. They gathered directly over my head up at the ceiling. I remember thinking, what the hell am I looking at? What in the world are those things? Do they realize I can see them? They hovered for a little while and then one of them shot down right infront of my face, maybe 8 inches away as if to say, you want to know what we are, have a closer look. It went from the size of a quarter to the size of a tennis ball. The best way to describe it is, it was as if I was looking at pure energy. Then they all popped one after the other. All of a sudden I felt like I was going to pass out. Like when you get anesthesia before surgery. One minute you’re awake and the next out cold. I remember thinking before passing out, is the black hole still there? I could barely turn my head to look but,yes it was still there. So that was that. Who know what happened afterwards. Im surprised they let me remember their visit. They didn’t seem dangerous. Honestly more playful. Also that week, there were several call to the police . People reporting seeing a triangular object sitting out over the ocean.

This situation reminds me of the scene in the 1980 movie, “The Final Countdown.” One of my favorite movies. I saw it in the theater when I was 13 yo. Anyway, it’s a time travel movie with Kirk Douglas wherein the USS Nimitz lands in December 7, 1941 and they must decide whether to defend Pearl Harbor, or to not interfere with history. Anyway, one scene is when the F-14s fly circles around the Japanese Zeros. FYI- My Mother’s brother was one of the 326 survivors from the USS Arizona when attacked by The Empire of Japan at Pearl Harbor on 12/07/1941.

There’s a 4th possibility on top of those 3 you mentioned: those UAP’s or UFOs could also be ourselves, human anthropologist traveling back in time from a far future, studying ourselves, maybe unmanned drones traveling in time, maybe that’s why they handle so many G-forces (nobody is inside, someone is piloting it from far in the future. Until they discover or reveal what it really is: everything is on the table.

"planets that we're exploring really don't support life" So about 7 planets out of a seemingly INFINITE amount of planets don't support life so let's assume none do...Then mentioning the fact there's no life on Mars?! Why would you assume the aliens are incapable of traveling from further away than Mars, even with this incredible, advanced tech at their disposal?
