Trust me Josh, I have wide feet. I tried on a pair of vapor 9's one time and my foot looked like a fat girl on prom night
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
That depends a lot on the specific shape of your foot as well as the width. Not every shoe is going to fit you perfectly.
@maxbucht6831
@maxbucht6831 7 лет назад
Have you tried a New insole? That plays a huge difference, for me at least. This is because it keeps the foot higher and in a shape and not just floating around which makes it wider.
@juanito6012
@juanito6012 7 лет назад
Max Bucht yes, but I cannot wear thin insoles. I take the insoles from my previous tiempo legends that have the poron inserts because I prefer a more cushioned insole. It's a more chunky insole so I know that plays into effect somewhat with the overall fit.

Juan Mendoza okay that doesn't mean anything. If you wear the x, nemeziz, magista, hypervenom, or tiempo. You dont have wide feet. All nike stud plate shapes are exactly the same, each one. The tiempo and vapor have the same shape and shape of the stud plate on the bottom. Only the material is different shaped. Their is a difference between a wide toe box, wide mid foot, flat feet, fat foot, skinny foot. Just cuz you have fat feet doesnt mean its wide. If you can wear vans, chucks, pf flyers, any nike running shoe you don't have wide feet. Running shoes are 1/2 sized big because no lateral movements, only one direction, and foot swelling factor that's it. If some shoes don't fit for soccer, ace line is best for adidas and tiempo for nike for the stretch in the mid foot

I wish they made different widths for soccer shoes, especially the width of the sole plates. Having uppers that loosen to fit a wide foot is great , but it feels like teetering on a narrow middle, rather than a full base

Thank you for this! I worked for 10 years in soccer retail as a footwear manager and it was unbelievable the the amount of people who were convinced had wide feet. And then some people who actually had wide feet would want boots like Vapors and Superflys. It would be amazing see one day what boots would actually sell if people got shoes that fit them! Lastly, Josh you content has become better and better over time and the channel is great these days!

I used to buy snug cleats because i was taught to by coaches. The sides would always blow out. Even on the leather cleats. At some point I realized that the pressure my foot was putting on the inside of the shoes was causing the blowouts. When I found New Balance 4E cleats (now discontinued), it was a sea change for me. I was able to drop a half to a full size because my foot had room in the toe box.The difference in comfort and performance was remarkable. My feet stopped hurting and blistering. I could run faster because there was less pain. So for me the advice to get a snug fit was completely wrong. The foot gage commonly used in stores can measure width, but it must be measured with your full weight on the foot, so your toes spread. Letting your toes spread naturally is key because it allows your foot to support you like it was meant to. Squeezing you toes together in a snug shoe gives you a unnaturally narrow foundation to stand on, and can reduce performance overall. Examine the feet of people who live barefoot, You will see a wide forefoot with all straight toes instead of the outer toes being curled toward the center. This is the price we pay for wearing shoes.. Still looking for a replacement for the New Balance 4E cleats. If anyone knows of some, please speak up.

I actually do have wide feet. And it sucks. Can't wear hardly anything synthetic. I can't even fit in a regular Legend 6. Had to go with Legacy due to it having the disconnected tongue on one side. Would love it try some of the new thin synthetics. Ugh.

The problem with me is that my foot is very flat and has no arch, so when I wear "narrower" boots, my foot forces the upper to stretch or squeeze out a little and folds occur near the last lace holes of the boots.

all boots are a sized to the "D" width last unless a "wide version is made. If you have had your feet measured and have wide feet then the last which is used to accommodate your feet starts from "2E". josh is completely right in saying leather boots will have more give than synthetic boots. a "d'' last boot leather will still feel tighter than a "2E'" last boot after moulding to your feet. the mizuno morelia is a "D" width last and the asics ds light X-fly are a "E'" last. the asics are more comfy for my feet when playing.

if you have wide feet, go for Mizuno or New Balance. as far as I know only these two companies make wide football boots. never size up in order to get wider width as there will be too much slack at the front which will affect your gait.

Hey Josh, odd question that I think you may be able to help me out with. So I'm a size 11 US in most cleats/boots. Vapors and Hypervenoms I'm size 11. Magista Opus and Puma evoPower I'm size 11.5 (I'm talking no space in the toe-box, perfect fit, snug no dead space). But when I've tried the newer adidas models like the adidas Ace 17.1 leather or even a little older in the adidas X 15+ Primeknit and Messi 16.1, I've had to go down to a size 10.5. Now could you tell me why that is? In older models (11pro, Predator LZ 2, Predator Instinct, adiPure 3) size 11 was perfect for me then. Again, I'm talking no dead-space, snug, my toes fully fitting the toe-box, etc. I don't have wide feet, my feet aren't narrow or skinny/long, the only difference that I can tell from others that I know is that my foot-shape is an Egyptian-type shape (big toe longest and toes following get shorter and shorter in comparison). I also have a gap in between my big toe and my index toe). Again, do you know why the sizing has drastically changed in adidas sizes? I've heard that size 10.5 to 11.5 for adidas boots have always been funky as far as correct sizing goes. On top of that, I've compared sprint-frames in each of my boots that do have sprint-frame in the alleged same size (size 11) and some of the sprint-frames do not line-up with the others (Studs aren't symmetrical with the boots I'm comparing between, one sprint-frame too long in comparison to the other, one too short, you get the idea). Sorry if this question was way too long or if you're just unable to answer, I know it's very complicated. I'd be interested in knowing if others have had this same issue with adidas models too.
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
I really don't think it has changed. I wear a size 9US in Mercurials and Hypervenoms and in pretty much every Adidas model.

@dave-ld8mo
@dave-ld8mo 7 лет назад
I agree that everbody has a different footshape, which has nothing to do with wide and narrow feet. I personally never had issues fitting in my boots in the midfoot and verklärtes. With that being said, I often have issues with the toebox area. That's because my big toe is not the biggest toe of my foot. Sometimes the boots hurt me that much that I get black nails and sometimes there is too much space left. Because of that, I am a big fan of football boots that just feature leather on the forefoot (Mizuno Basara, Leather f50s...).They give me just that little bit of custom fit in the toebox area while still feeling nice and secure
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
That's exactly the point of this video. You've tried different shoes, analyzed your feet, what you like and what you dislike and now know exactly what style of shoe works for you the best.

How about specifying how to determine if you have wide feet ? I actually have some Tiempo 5s and the tongue bulges out so much that you can see my socks on the left and right of it. Granted they are probably a half size too small even though I sized up 1/2 a size when I bought them. Leather Predators never gave me an issue.

Wider Josh. They need to be wider. The initial football boots from the '20/'30 interwar period wore wide. I have Mizuno all leather FG Morelia II Elite with 3/4 hand toe space and Puma Attacanto for indoor and concrete with 3/4 and for Adidas Kaizer 5 for AG . It may be 2/3 it may be 1/2 for all my boots but i will take that space in front if it means i have confortable experience. The leather or sintetic is flexible and is very important for me. All other boots are making me think of my feet like someone is pinching me on my nipples non-stop. I can not concentrate on the game i just think that my feet hurts. We need a new category Wide feet boots/cleats.

diulikadikaday Same here. I actually thought I have wide feet. I was very sceptical on what boots to buy. I bought a pair of Hypervenom Phelon 3s going by Josh's recommendation and they fit pretty well. After watching this video I actually measured by feet and realised my feet are actually particularly narrow and based on that I'm actually gonna buy a pair of Vapors. I also realized socks can make your feet look a little narrower because it kinda blocks the loose skin from spreading when you put all you weight on your feet, making them look rather wide.

I calculated I have wide feet 11cm (I think they're even flat) but I don't want to buy leather shoes. Magista is what fits me the best. I tried hypervenom. I thought they would have been comfortable but they're not. At the same price point even Mercurial fitted me better. I would have never guess so.

Hey Josh, maybe its a good thing if you could show us your feet with socks and the other one with a shoe on before the "On Feet" section of every video in the near future.. that way we can compare how the shoe could fit to us. for example, this video's thumbnail. the Neymar Mercurial on your right feet looks very narrow compare to your left feet.
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
That's because soccer cleats fit tight and hold your feet in place. Your feet shouldn't be able to fully expand when standing in a soccer cleat. There should be some compression.
@LuisCMS31
@LuisCMS31 7 лет назад
Josh do you still agree that thin feet are existent? As I went to the Nike store and only the hypervenom line left way too much room in the tie box and wasn't tight at all. Are there any tight synthetic boots you'd recommend that isn't the, vapor, superfly, purechaos, nemesis?
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
You can definitely have narrow feet, but again, most people who feel like the boots they try on are too wide are wearing the wrong size. With proper sizing, most boots will fit most people.

Soccer Reviews For You True, however in my case I tried on the phantom in varying sizes and all on them were too wide even when they were the correct length

I used to think I had wide feet. Until I tried on some superflys and vapors. They fit well and not as bad as I expected. I did not buy these thought because I just don't like right or thin upper cleats

For my wide feet people!!! I have a very wide pair of feet.. SO picking a pair hasn't really been easy in m football life span. but, there is salvation! I always try to re buy the shoes that have fit me great and never failed me and my duck feet. 1) Total 90 Laser Collection (I Prefer the 1 and 2) 2) Nike Hypervenom Phantom ii. Boot hack, I took off the laces and super glued the flaps on to the knit tongue/upper (the iiis for some odd reason, hurt like hell and just wouldn't budge.) 3) Puma Evopower Vigor 1 (Run Small, get a half size bigger) 4) New Balance Visaro (I think all their colorways are bad and not a great boot but I do wear them for scrimmages or less important things) 5) Nike Tiempo Legend VII Elite (Best boot to wear. It will hurt at first, but once broken in, just amazing) hope this helps anyone who's having a hard time like I was. :)

Are the hypervenom phantom III good for wide feet. The low cut ones
@obi_juanquenobii
@obi_juanquenobii 6 лет назад
Jamie Bartraij what’s weird is that I did the hack on the IIs not because they weren’t fitting, but because I didn’t see a point in the laces. The IIs I didn’t need any breaking in. The IIIs did take me a big of time to break in but I just end up using the IIs again. I guess it’s more of a personal preference

My 13 year old daughter has bunions on both feet. They won't correct them until she has stopped growing. She LOVES soccer but cleats do not fit bunions very well. I will look into leather shoes for her, but do you have any other suggestions? I know you can lace running shoes according to your foot type, are there any tricks like that? Just looking for any help in the constant quest for comfortable cleats for her. Thanks!

I feel like you are arguing yourself on this one Josh but over all, it's different way to look at the fitting on cleats and something to think about when buying new cleat.

I bought a superfly 5 in my size, and I can't wear them. The midfoot is too narrow as the nike soleplate puts a lot of pressure on the outside of my foot. So they're unwearable. So I bought Obra 2s in my size again. And the same issue, just less. My foot is too wide for the Nike soleplate as it puts a lot of pressure on my foot since it sinks in. So I can't wear my Nike cleats.

Can You please make an updated "Best soccer cleats for narrow feet" video?
@Soccerreviewsforyou
@Soccerreviewsforyou 7 лет назад
I feel like the same advice applies to narrow feet as well. Most of the time when someone would mention that they have narrow feet, the issue was sizing and just wearing shoes that were too big. Like I said in this video, most boots will fit most people. They don't design shoes to fit a specific foot type, they design them to fit as many people as possible.

Hello Josh, I think you might answer my question since I couldnt find a reliable answer on the net. 3 of my smaller toes are kinda pressed and touch to the front of the cleats. Shall I consider it as a small size for me and will it create a pain if I play with these cleats? Fyi, there is like quarter or half thumb space for 2 bigger toes

I’ve been playing soccer since the 80’s. I’ve never had trouble with any model of any brand until the past couple of years…now I can’t put on any of the cleats I’ve bought from any brand. Just can’t get them on. I’ve watched several of your videos. Any more help to widen/stretch the opening of these new models of cleats/boots?

I have wide feet also, cant really fit into tiempos, New Balance is the only manufacturer that hv 2E size (wide sizing), bought a visaro leather in 2E size and it fits like a glove, most comfortable boots out of the box i wore by far.

Hey Josh! I have been watched your videos for years know and I have started to play tennis recently (football is still my main sport though!). Would you say that because the quick movement required to play tennis is similar to that of playing football, all of your fitting advice could also be said about tennis shoes? Therefore, should I also buy a tennis shoe with a tight fit and no extra space, if that is my preferred fit for football boots too?
