Uh, freedom of speech is just freedom from the government curtailing our speech. Not freedom to say whatever in privately owned environments. It's why you can ban people on Twitch for saying weird stuff, but you can't kick a crazy guy out of a park for giving a speech to no one. Twitter, Reddit, etc are all privately owned.

That's not quite correct. You are describing the 1st amendment of the bill of rights. Freedom of speech itself is the underlying principle, and it does not only apply to the United States government.

It relates primarily to the government because they can jail you. To anyone else any compulsion is affecting one party or another's rights. It is good for the government to be hands off because they have a monopoly on legitimate violence. A company to enforce your idea you need to strip them of the freedom to say they don't want to associate with you. There better be a good reason and a trade off for that like net neutrality or common carrier status.

Anyone can get sued by anyone for anything that can be taken as an insult in Taiwan, YES you can get sued and fined for calling someone a bitch. 2. Something with the current government, when you criticize them, they will find ways to shut you down, i.e all the news channels and comentary channels were shut down in taiwan that's not in support of current government (So Taiwan's pretty much going the way of China). 3. The government official openly said that it is karama that the region that didn't vote for them got hit with earthquake. And tell people to not help with the econnomic rebuild efforts because they deserve it (Feel free to do a quick google or youtube serach of this, it is very easy to find) 4. You do not have to criticize the governnment in China to lose everything, you just have to piss off the wrong person and they can use "speech crime" to ping you. I like the freedom of speech we have in Germany. Your right on freedom of speech ends as soon as you are trying to restrict other people of their rights. For example, you are not allowed to verbally attack a person or make up something about them otherwise you can get fined. When we had freedom of speech like USA has, we got someone like Hitler who actually has a lot of resemblance with Trump. Hitler also made up most of the things he said but used a little bit of truth which made everyone believe what he said is 100% truth.

In Germany if someone tells obvious lies about me to other people and I find that out, I can sue them for slander. I can also sue someone for just insulting me. Depending on the impact they could even get a jail sentence. So if someone called me the f-slur in Germany I could actually sue them while in the US this is considered freedom of speech. That being said, if I insult them back I can't sue them anymore.
What you have means you don’t have freedom of speech laws. You have restricted speech laws. You don’t have freedom of speech if you can’t say what you want to say. In the US, the only speech restriction is call to arms, which I agree should be restricted, as they can cause mass panic like saying there is a fire in a movie theater. Insulting someone and then going to jail is so insane to me. You don’t have a right not to be insulted. Also, comparing Trump to Hitler is a bit much. They have very few similarities, and very different ideas and ideologies.

Insulting someone is always a matter of civil court, the government doesn't really get involved in this, they are just a mediary. They determine how severe the insult was, then calculate the punishment based on their income (for example 50€ for 30 days = 1500€) and if the person isn't able to pay up they have to go to jail instead (they would have to go to jail for 30 days in this example). The most important law in Germany is: "humans dignity is inviolable". It's kinda crazy to me that someone can insult you in usa and you can't do anything else besides talking back. In Germany an insult counts as an attack, so if you do it right you can punch the shit out of someone and this will be counted as self defence. Most people like this law :D

Hey guys, really important message here, I hope you can see it. I'm a doctor from germany, and im 70% sure i know what that bug bite John had was/is (because I also had it myself): It's called an erythema migrans, and it's the early stage of lyme disease! The image, the expanding redness and the intense symptoms John experienced are all in my opinion signs that speak for lyme disease, but as im not specialised in that subject, you should 100% go to a specialist to get it checked. Take the picture, explain the symptoms (especially that you marked it and it expanded) and hope that I am wrong. The disappearance of the symptoms can also be part of lyme disease (the local infection is gone now, but it has disseminated to the whole system), which is why you should still go. If left untreated, the disease can advance to affect other body parts like joints, the heart or the nervous system. I am not 100% sure I am right (it might've been just a regular local infection, but thats hard to say with only that one picture) , but in your shoes, I would rather be safe than sorry.
Doctor, here. John likely had a large localized reaction, which typically occurs within like 12-24 hours, gradually gets worse over a few days, then improves within a week. I usually tell patients to take some Ibuprofen and Benadryl, as well as place a cool compress over the hot irritated skin. If John had these symptoms like a week after he got the bites, then that would more likely be an infection and would likely treat with antibiotics.

The app payment thing isn't a Chinese thing, it's a global thing. The US is probably the only 1st world nation where this hasn't become ubiquitious. The QR code thing is pretty prevelant too but certinaly it's annoying. It's not necessarily a distinct app you need to add, but google/apple pay or just tapping with your debit/credit card.
The difference is that the qr codes eastern countries like japan and china use for menus dont force you into downloading an app for every restaurant. Its differnt in america right? Everyone trying to get you on their own apps

I m a toast fan, but some of toast takes in the last few podcasts he have been in feels like forced, wrong, and lacks knowledge on topic. I haven't watched this full episode, but the eminem part was so off and wrong. I agree it wasn't the best/peak eminem song, but it still hit hard and most of the pop/hip hop culture and fans loved it.. I dont remember the exact timeline but 'houdini' was the most streamed spotify song the the week it was released and it also brought back its theme song 'without me' from 2 decades ago to top 5 in the spotify playlist. The song was supposed to be edgy and offend other people? Yes. Did it hit as hard as he would in his prime? No. But its still nowhere near the same type of edgy as teenagers these days. Also it overtook kendricks 'not like us' and sabrinas 'espresso' by a lot in spotify streams when it was released. Also toast, haikyuu is not a overrated anime at all, if anything, i would say its underrated, it was one of the biggest and most impactful anime of all time as it actually jumpstarted the declining volleyball sport in japan because of inspiring a large number of young kids and teenagers to pursue a career in volleyball and henceforth reviving volleyball in japan, through statistics it was shown with every manga and anime season release of haikyuu in japan the sport grew there more and more.
