I would have liked to see odo hand quark a weapon and tell him. “ just be mindful that your pointing it a Klingon Quark, oh make sure your still alive so you can return it to me”. Quark nods and says “ Thanks odo, I didn’t know you cared” odo responds, “ I don’t but since your the only bar on this station we can’t let the Klingons destroy the entertainment, now can we”. Quark nods again before going into his bar and locking the door.

The chat between Dukat and Garak no doubt did happen *all over* the Eastern Bloc in its history about types of service and outmaneuvering oneanother for games of political one-ups-man-ship regarding positions of say in governance. Ironic that in the prime example thereof: to be named to the Secretary General's inner circle was a *death-sentence*, yet only a question of "When?" at that: it stands to reason that they'd have learned to keep their heads *down* and to avoid drawing attention to themselves; what with a profoundly paranoid head of state to fear. And ironically, in their case: it'd be actually safer to have to take out an entire *Panther Division* with only a loaded *pistol* than to receive a "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal from the Secretary General himself!

I can see it now. Season 1, just after sisko gets back out of the wormhole for the first time towing dukat. “So miles/major how did you survive 3 those cardassian ships?”. Response: we bluffed their sensors to think we had 5000torpedoes, full phasers and generator upgrades. Sisko, taking notes “thank you for the starting point for the shopping list, the first requisition in case of emergencies has just been filed with federation procurement, do let me know if you can think of anything else”. A few years later we get this scene.

Robert O'Reilly, who played Gowron, was well known among Star Trek cast, crew and fans for messing up his lines as he found it difficult to speak clearly while wearing Gowron's mask. Therefore, they almost always simply ended up using the take in which he said his lines the best.

i think what makes ds9 my favourite trek is that its scale is just right. when tng had battles it was common it was just 16 people, when new trek has battles its 1 million cgi effects smashing into eachother. but for ds9 its like 50 people total and a special effects team working hard, end result is a believable battle scale and the perfect amount of star trek cheesyness

>Spoiler warning, for those yet unaware< Keep in mind this was the Changeling impersonator talking, so he might've been trying to just goad Gowron to attack anyway, knowing the bloodthirsty maniac would use any excuse to just keep pushing his own agenda. Other klingons probably would've been reasonable enough to accept the scans were right, SPECIALLY the real Martok.

It's so ridiculous to see Gul Dukhat become a central character in the final episode. He was better as a foil. the real battle between the Federation and Dominion was the real meat of the DS9 story. It's ironic that both DS9 and Babylon 5 built themselves on war only to have a weak conclusion.
@233Deadman
@233Deadman 5 лет назад
B5 was kinda screwed by the network. They didnt confirm until the last minute that it would get its planned final season, so the writer rushed through the Earth Civil War arc to make sure it was finished for the fans. That arc was meant to be most of the final season, though I think the very last couple of episoes were always going to be what they were.

I disagree about Dukat. He was there at the beginning of the series, before the Dominion. He was a key driver of major events. His character's relationship to the rest of the cast evolved with the changing flow of the series. And his death at the end was the culmination of his character arc. Having sold everything he valued and believed in for his own glory, he ended as an empty puppet.

I honestly have to say DS9 was my favorite Star Trek. It was so different than the others being centered around one place versus one ship thats all over the place. I think Sisko is my favorite Captain as well. Avery Brooks was damn good and he had that booming voice that when it came time to loudly proclaim what is and what ain't, his voice is HEARD.

Gowron's kind of foolish in his terms of insult: Ben Sisko's people are really very well-versed in handling big cats; this's not bigotry at all; and he himself lets slip he's *very* into studying the history of his ethnic group. While I heartily agree with him acting as a real man in several ways; he also should remember in his chats on the events in Las Vegas in 1950s AD USA that it was a whole lot better for his ethnic group than say *1850s AD New Orleans*, there they owned *nothing*, and as his own father would stress to him: they *were owned themselves*; talk about a profoundly abusive situation to live in!

I'm not sure about that. If they really were reverting back to how they were in Kirk's time, that would be a problem for everyone. The Dominion and the Romulans were enough of a headache as it is, but a pre treaty Klingon Empire added into the mix would be too much for the Federation to handle. I think the galaxy should be thankful that in the midst of all this chaos, the Borg decided to stay out of it.
