The driver who is reasonably intelligent will have many write offs and end up paying no taxes, they may even get a small refund. They still may just break even and not make a profit but the 'freedom' of going home when they want to and going out when they want is the benefit some drivers may be looking for. The price they may pay is not having a profitable business in the long run,?

My ping rate when up more than 20%... knowledge of where the other drivers are is power! It is due to when I started using a second phone! You can use technique this with one phone but it takes a bit of time. The second phone lets you see the others moving and see them vanish when they get a ping! Knowing your area and where the most productive pick up points is imperative.

I remember chatting to a South African cab driver while waiting for a job, he said "You know what? Two days ago I took my mobile phone and I threw it in the ocean. Why? For drivers using one vehicle, check into in car wifi services. You can link up to 7-10 devices from your vehicle. Prices vary by provider.

Yeah, I think a lot of people do this, but why use two phones? You can do it with one phone. Both Uber and Lyft will send a push notification when you get a ride request.

I looked into doing this in my area. They pay $1/mi. Uber takes .25, plus gas, mileage, and the big one, DEPRECIATION. I may get cash this week but when I sell my car, it will be worth thousands less. Every mile I drive my car, it goes down in value, whether I'm getting paid or not! Please don't think writing it off on taxes helps you. It only reduces your tax liability, you'll still have to pay for new tires much sooner along with brakes, shocks, timing belts ect. Plus when you sell or trade it in you won't get jack sh*t. Add it ALL up. Why do you think they pay so much for referrals? They need drivers cause so many do it a few months and realize it's at best minimum wage. (x at least)

harooni22 , hello every ones case is different. if you need to pay rent , then work. the beauty of this program is that you work the hrs that is convenient to you. if you are looking to drive for a living and not worry about maintenance then drive a cab, their rules, their hrs. I have a full time job, so I drive to give me something to do, get paid when I can't sleep.

Write off on taxes , 14 YEARS AGO if you were a business owner (which you should treat Uber as a business) we were getting $0.57 cents per mile, and miles to get to the start location from your home count!! So, take that money and get an interest paying savings account. Then when you need to have money to buy tires, etc. It's there. Also get a second interest paying account and put a little $25 or so each week and that can be your down payment for a newer car. Personally, I think that you should add a few extra dollars a month to pay your business car off sooner. And, if you're in a metropolitan area, most of the miles will be highway, which brings the value back up. So sell it privately, like maybe someone that wants to start Uber and needs a car that has been taken care of!!

Jeremy Headington correct it has been mentioned. on one platform with Uber you can toggle and use one ohone, but people to fail to get the message, we are talking two companies, driving Uber and Lyft, running four apps at the same time. Good luck toggling betwern four apps and one ohone, ain't happening.

No, he needs one with the rider app to see where his competitors are positioning themselves and then obviously one with the driver app to see where the customers are at.

+T1ger8oi, What else would it be? He says it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. He says you need a phone with the driver app and one with the passenger app - and then later goes on to explain how you should stay as big a distance away from other uber drivers as possible while still being in the area where your clientele resides. Then for added efficiency he uses two different carriers for his phones in case one doesn't cover all areas of the city you're in. However, honestly, if you don't have that problem in your city, I'd imagine it'd be more efficient to just have one provider and tether with the other phone - or if your carrier allows for it have a free extra sim card on the same plan for the second phone... or hell just switch between the apps on one phone, although I'd imagine that'd be more stressful having to swtich back and forth all the time.

Rocket science is also not required to know you can use the rider app on the same phone as the driver app. I routinely check the rider app for positioning by tabbing over on the same phone. Same for Lyft. It's on the same phone. Get a ride, stop the other.

Great doing this work when you are an Insurance Agent. Put Business cards in the handles of your car doors. Passengers reach for the car handle and will automatically take a business card.

Is uber or lyft really worth the money when you total up the wear and tear, taxes, fuel and whatever else you need to spend to operate your vehicle versus what the ride share companies pay? From what I heard uber is taking up to 25% of the operators pay to maintain the app which seems high!! Can someone answer this? Is it really worth it? It just seems uber and lyft exploit the operators and do not pay them what they are worth!!!

My very first Uber x ride payed me 40.00 for 2 hours...since then I do Uber eats when it's 1.5 to 1.7 and it pays well...the professor is right about treated it like a business... positioning is key...I check the Uber x passenger app before doing Uber eats and squat on places away from other riders...getting double orders in the process...the man is right...thx for the video

I'm going to do this trick however, buying 2 phone carriers is expensive, it'd be way more cost efficient to go purchase an old android that is not activated, and use the HOTSPOT service provided by sprint to give the old phone a signal, and then use the rider app on the old phone. I have 10gb of hotspot included, so i guess i could just be sure to turn it off while giving rides and even while not needing the other phone in general to save hotspot data. For anyone who doesn't have hotspot, you could add to your plan and be sure to recoup the extra.

Rideshare Professor I was actually stating to use 2 phones..but don't pay for service for the other. Use mobile hot spot from the phone with service to give the phone without service an internet signal. Any old Android phone would work. Instead of paying for 2 lines..just add hotspot service to your first phone..I'm going to try it tonight to make sure it works..I could respond if you like

I thought this was pretty cool. I actually have the luxury however of obtaining a tablet free from my phone carrier in which works on the network with it's own phone number and it's own benefits of using. With this idea I could just put the passenger app on the tablet and put the tablet in a spot where it's safe and the screen is bigger so it doesn't have to be in my face. It's sad how many crazy people there are who will attack another for them giving free info. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful with ideas.

Yes, totally right, I just do not want to switch between while driving and if you operate a second service like Lyft, two come in handy. Always want to see where the cars are on the grid, so as I am driving I can reposition myself without stopping or wasting time.

terence you dont need 2 phones for this trick you just need both apps open in ur phone the driver app and the passenger app. he's only using 2 phones because he said sometimes one of his service get interupted up in the hills.

Thank you so much for the trick tips. I am new to driving for Uber in the Bayarea, just signed up and to be honest, I am a bit like a kid going to a new school for the first time. There are questions about differently cities requiring a business license in order to operate in their city limit. I email to Uber but they are not very sure and didn't offer a concrete answer. In San Jose, a Uber driver is required to have a contractor license to operate in the airport. San Francisco ( not mentioned by Uber) requires all ridershare drivers to have such license when he enters the city more than 7 days in a year. So being an experts as you are, are you aware that each city actually has an unspoken business license requirement.

this is easy with one phone , and not a big secret, just like how most drivers I meet don't even know how to see the rate for the trip there on and how NJ is split in half rate wise.

I actually drive with the rider app running, and the driver app sends me the calls when i get them.. Rider app...i put my car 2kms away from everyone and within 5 mins or less i get calls.. non stop

I used this trick,when I drive Uber too, you don't need 2 phones, just have both driver app and rider app on same phone

Had my first puker lat night. Luckily he put his head out the window. Still had to wet paper towels to get it off the side. Thanks for the heads up about taking a picture. I've done 4 trips to Boston but get blocked there and found out I have to have a CORI done to get in.

Andrew Treantos this video is about running 4 apps atvthe same time and not being distracted while driving. two rider apps and two driver apps.sure you can try and do all of that on one phone
