For people that look for which one to get, go for the 150. Much better tool still small enough for edc. The 125 has way to small handle and teeth, less leverage and less grip,also a bit smaller jaws as you see. In person, 125 looks cute like a keychain tool but the 150 even though it's still small, it looks and works like a tool. 180 and 150 are my favorite Cobras, followed by the 250. If I was a car or ship mechanic etc, then deffenately would go for the big Cobras!! Around house jobs, go for the 180 Cobra, that's the most peoples favorite size!

i agree on the 2nd part of the comment ,but the first part i sorta disagree , if ypur a person who uses them daily go for a decent size pair , but for me i have a toolkit that i take on 30km + mountainbike rides , my bike is around 12,3 kg and so every gramm matters (and adds up quickly if i do so with 10 or 12 pcs of equip in my toolkit) and even if they were like 10% less good (id dont think so) if i use them once or twice i dont care , but at home i use my 180 or 250mm pair and i love them

I somewhat agree I own both and also have both in my work box aircraft mechanic 9 years most of the time I’m grabbing the 150mm or the 180mm the 125mm I mainly use for tight spaces or for installing cotter keys quickly I feel like they shine best as a complementary tool to a larger piler. that being said the 125mm will still put in a lot of work volunteered to transport a harrier jet and used only the 125mm cobra pilers and 125 pilers wrench and a awl to take out a speed brake actuator. So you can get the work done but your going to have a better time with the 150mm slightly more leverage and a overall better handhold.

I want the newish 100mm Cobra and plier wrench EDC kit so bad, but it's way too expensive. They want like $70 for the plier wrench and $30 for the Cobra pliers, and $20 for the pouch (individually). It's still $120 as a kit.

I agree. I've got 125s I carry to work and 180s at the house. And some 150s on the way to replace my 125s, don't use them much at work anyways, but nice to have, and I guess the 125s will be my weekend warrior pliers

Great review! I have both pairs, I went with the smaller 5 inch, 125mm versions first and loved them. But the leverage advantage you get with the 6 in, 150mm is far superior. He's right about the portability of the 5 in and it's a great EDC option but for me the 6in leverage is the factor that makes it my choice.

I ordered both the 125 (as part of the kit) and the 150 Cobra separately to compare them side-by-side. In the kit, the wrench pliers came in the 150 mm and were perfect for EDC. I returned the 125 mm Cobras though. They were just too small for my hands and I did not find them as useful as the 150 mm cobra pliers. I have been carrying the 150 mm Cobra pliers every day for over a year along with the 150mm wrench pliers. I have used them countless times. Like someone else said above, if I lost them today I would buy a new pair tomorrow. So many trips have been saved to the toolbox because they were in my pocket. ❤️ 🐍 🇩🇪

One of the reasons I chose the 5" over the 6" was the weight (85g vs 145g), which with its pocket size makes the 5" easier to carry.

nice vid... For those who are looking for the best plier based multitool for urban EDC, skip the Leathermans and Gerbers. Pair a 4 or 5 inch Cobra with the Victorinox SAK of your choice and you'll be happy. I use a 4 inch Cobra with a Super Tinker. They fit in my watch pocket with rook to spare. If Tim Leatherman had a Knipex Cobra when his Fiat broke down he never would have invented the Leatherman PST.

I‘m from Germany and own the 150mm for more than a decade as a Tool in my shop. I think it‘s a whole class of pliers on its own, making combination or lineman ‚s pliers obsolete in many cases. Very often you don‘t want a big bulky pair of pliers, but just something that fits nicely into your hand making it grip with steel. And that is what the 150 mm Cobras do perfectly; you can open it far more than the aforementioned types. For prepping/ EDC I also have a pair of those in my extended toolkit. The 125 mm are more of a emergency type, they are Even easier to carry due to size & weight, but are just a bit too small to count as a „real“ Tool, at least for my size 11,5 hands.

I have the 125s and a smaller Crescent RT24CVS pliers. The 125s are great for the majority of the tasks I have used them for at work. Sure I will need to get out the larger sizes occasionally but in general these fit the need perfectly. I have no real complaints other than needing another set or three.
@iamfuckingyourwaifuandther2743
People use the 125 because they can pair it with a knife, or other non pliers based multitool and have pliers that are a million times better than pliers on a multitool, and weight is usually a huge factor.
@bryanstone654
@bryanstone654 3 года назад
absolutely right. I have the 125 and the 100 and pair them with a Super Tinker (Juice S2 alternative), Cadet and LM Micra. I'm done with plier-based multitools. Pairing of the 125 Cobra and the Ontario RAT 2 is much better than the Leatherman Freestyle.

I've been carrying the 150mm Cobras in the breast pocket of my coveralls for the past two years alongside other tools I need constantly. Mostly it has been useful when encountering rusty broken central lubrication system nuts, but has also been handy in countless other occasions over the big pliers. I also have 125mm Cobras, but the grip on their jaws seemed to usually be lacking vs corroded stuff. Obviously I still get the 250, 400 or 560mm pair when I really need the grip.

Do what every Knipex junkie does buy both. Lol. Yes the 125 are small with a very respectable capacity but what good is a 25mm capacity if you dont have any leverage due to the short handles. For smaller jobs my go to is the 180. Great combination of capacity and leverage. I do utilize the 150 for areas with limited access or somewhere i need greater "feel" I dont own the 125 and after watching this I probably wont get them. A great comparison video. Thanks

Hey quick question, are you familiar with the “reca” brand? A colleague from Austria come over for work and I notice that he had what seem to be a wera tool check plus set in a most green and black color but the sockets were not color coded. After a closer looks it branded as reca. Even the little ratchet had reca logo and the wera-shaped handle. I thought it was some branding scheme from wera but he also had a little cobra like the ones on this video with Kinipex on the casting but green handles with the reca brand on them. He some more insulated pliers similar to wiha but again with the reca logo. I figure you might be able to explain with a going on there in a nice video form

The pliers wrenches are definitely expensive, but they are worth the cost. I never use normal adjustable wrench anymore. For standard electrical work (conduit nuts like you mentioned). I would recommend picking up a 180 or 250. The 180 is a bit cheaper and will do pretty much anything you need. 250 will be a bit better on larger fasteners and get you some more torque. Seriously pick up a set and try them out. I was hesitant at first, but at this point I have ever size from 300mm and down with multiples of the 250, 180, and 125. I don't regret buying any of them.

Those 150mm pliers appear to be counterfeit, although a better copy than most I've seen. The extra hump on the back of the jaws gives it away. I call b.s. Those 150's appear 100% genuine. "Extra hump on the back of the jaws" isn't specific enough to be coherent. I can't find whatever you're seeing. The cheapest and most common place to get them is the top recommended on amazon, and knipex website links directly to it for purchase. Where on earth do you imagine people buying knockoffs of already super inexpensive wrenches? These aren't rolex's dude. They're not even as fine as smokeshop folders, they're supposed to be crude workhorses. Each unique and roughly shaped in areas. I uninstall my grips and dehorn the handles for grip-down knife-pocket carry. They're gnarly under those grips. I'd be interested to see if there are any markings under those grips, even though I think they're genuine ;)

the 125 is very small when you actually go to do anything with it ,,, 150 is handy though.

125s are a joke in my opinion, can barely hold them might as well use fingers. i will be returning both and getting 180 alligators but id say handling both if people are looking for an edc pair go 150. even then i think 180s are best compact size as small as id go

Amazing, a video to compare two exact products except for an insignificant ONE INCH length difference! It's no wonder aliens decide not to visit planet Earth!
