Super awesome video series, really enjoyed it. I've bought a brushed (soon to be brushless) Zorro from new, and a nitro Zorro second-hand. I'm a complete noob, only been in the hobby for literally a couple of months, and have to say I absolutely love both platforms, pretty much for the reasons you guys described. I bought a sway bar for the electric which has improved the handling, and run it on lipos. Had to get an aluminium front chassis for the nitro as the plastic one it came with was cracked, but it also seems to handle better. Agree on the suitable terrain to run each platform, and the nitro definitely needs a BIG area to drive on. Tinkerbility for each is great, and I love how each has different characteristics when being driven. I'm intrigued by the idea of putting a bigger fuel tank in the nitro, so I'll be looking into that. My only real issue with the nitro has been the the glow starter - there's a knack to it for sure, and cold starts suck. But, the sound and blue smoke once its going is lush! As a recent convert to real life short course/trophy truck racing, both platforms give me that realism in miniature. But not only that, I would also say that RC driving has given me an escapism from my rather hectic life that my other hobbies don't, purely from the point of taking these trucks out and having a damn good time driving and bashing! Thanks for producing such an excellent channel, I have subscribed! I look forward to watching your other videos, and future new content. Cheers!! 😎

Hey, glad you enjoyed it! Nice to hear you're enjoying the hobby. It is a rabbit-hole, though... that's for sure! Yeah, the electric is definitely the ease-of-use winner, but the nitro trumps it, in terms of involvement and experience. I'm sure you'll love brushless! Sounds to me that you've perfectly tapped-into the spirit of this hobby and why it's great! Thank you for the sub and the support! Very pleased to have you along for the ride.

Great vid as you have the Outlaw already could you just swap out the shell for the blue zorro? Is it possible as both are the same platform?
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 2 года назад
Yup, absolutely. Even the cage behind the Zorro body is the same as the Outlaw. Different wheels/tyres and new body shell. Sorted!

I love the nitro on full chat, it looks and sounds amazing. I just have to say that you live in a beautiful area, birds singing cows 🐮 sneezing and beautiful scenery, sooooo.......throw another shrimp on the barbie. lol 😝 . Oh, oh,.......with great power comes great responsibility, hahaha 😂. Nice review guys, I actually enjoyed these videos more than I thought i would, well done guys. 😎👍👍👍 Ps..... I just noticed that you both smile when talking about the nitro......... but not when talking about the electric ⚡️. Just saying 😆

It certainly does! Oh, don't be complimenting where I live TOO much... I'm moving soon and will lose it! Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed them. I'm getting the distinct feeling you prefer the nitro?? Hmmm...

Nitro is completely overshadowed by electric, nitro is only good if you like noise smoke and an all lot of hassle Also don't buy cheap electric cars because as soon as you drive them you will start spending in new parts and you will spend a lot more than if you had bought a better car to begin with

Great series fellas enjoyed it all. So the conclusion is buy the FTX Carnage 2 and brushless it, with its independent shocks as standard? I have a WLtoys basher with solid rear axle and I get fed up with the wobbly handling.
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 4 года назад
Thanks for that, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, the Carnage V2 is definitely a solid choice, especially if you don't enjoy the wobbliness. In-fact, get the carnage sway bar set and keep those wheels strictly on terra firma! Or, look at the Maverick Strada XT; that looks lovely.

I would look at getting second hand buggy and giving it a good clean. Replacing any parts if necessary. I got a lossy 22 V3 brushless electric buggy for 130 quid with another one part built but with the necessary parts in the bundle. All I had to add was a Lipo 2s battery and charger
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 4 года назад
@@richardgore2000 2nd hand is always an option, but I can understand if people want something brand-new, with manufacturer's warranty. The 22 is a cracking little buggy, though!

These are more aimed towards motorsport fans as oppose to hobbyists in my opinion, the electric "Zorro has a very similar set up to a real Unlimited series race truck, where the pitch and roll induced by the rear rigid axle and IFS combo creates a more immersive experience. The Nitro is amazing in its own right, I wouldn't even say its a basher, I feel like its aimed towards easing returning hobbyists and "car guys" that are either returning to hobby or want something to mess around with, its affordable and not something unobtainable for a group of friends who want to hijack a local pump track for a day and make some noise...I am guilty of both
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 3 года назад
Very possibly. Certainly, seasoned hobbyists are not on the FTX radar. There is some appeal to the "immersive experience", as you call it; I wouldn't mind making an RC Stadium Super Truck.

A metal chassis plate in the electric would help it's handling a bit,by giving it more low down weight. In the city,it really does have to be an electric,due to the noise levels of the nitros.
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 4 года назад
Ah, yes, it would. Didn't think of that. Thanks, David! And yeah... nitros and cities don't mix.

Very impressed with the nitro for the price I've not had an rc car for a number of years the last I had was the hyper 7 and I didn't get half the bits you get on that as standard, I had to buy a cut off as extra And if I remember correctly I didn't get oil filled shocks either and with the starter pack and fuel and cut off and batteries that cost me the best part of £400 it was a good few years back though. I'm just looking at getting back into Rc's with my son what would recommend I should be looking at as a first car for a 7 year old and dad? I'll be buying 2 so budget around the 130-150 Mark each. Electric obviously. But I'm getting a bit confused looking now.

Yeah, she's not a bad little truck, eh? Interesting to hear that older Hypers weren't that highly specced; I didn't know that! Well, apart from the obvious "have a look at the FTX range", my first response will always be for you to check out the current 1/10 Maverick range. Not only do they look fantastic for the money, you're also helping finance the resurgence of HPI, which I'm always up for! Personally, I think the Maverick Strada XT and MT models look great. Just ignore the older Mavericks, they weren't amazing. Apart from that, I've heard great things about the Absima range, for the price. In-fact, RC Racer magazine rated a particular Absima entry-level car 5-stars, a while back, because of how good it was, for what you pay. Good luck!

@@TheRCScotsman thanks for takimg the time to reply... I've been watching every video I can find on the maverick ftx and absima ranges although I love the way the absimas look, everyone I watch seems to be broken...Very broken so that's putting me off slightly, The maverick range looks good the phantom seems very good value at £109 for the lad and I'm quite drawn to the quantum or strada mt but we shall see... 2 days ago I had 2 bugstas sat in my basket ready to buy And they look pretty solid for starter trucks..... how anyone buys anything with all this choice is beyond me
@TheRCScotsman
@TheRCScotsman 4 года назад
@@fubbychucker6696 Ahh, that doesn't sound great about the Absima. Yeah, Maverick aren't a bad choice at all. Just bare in mind that they don't have slipper clutches (I don't think), so you always have to be off-throttle when you land jumps. The Bugsta is very good, although somewhat over-geared from the box, owing to the huge tyres. I'd recommend looking at getting a smaller pinion gear to compensate. They're very cheap and easy to swap.
