Choosing it over the TWSBI would all depend on how consistent the nibs are. I’m sick of watching reviews of pens being smooth and then when I order one, it’s either wildly scratchy or there’s sometimes literally zero ink flow. TWSBI always shows up writing like butter. If that’s the same with them, I may consider it over the TWSBI but TWSBI has earned my trust and trust has to be built over time. So, I probably would t choose it, as of now.
That is all a very good point. This one was excellent and has maintained that since I filmed. However, if it was bad, send it back. Never settle. Thanks for watching.
I got a Nahvalur over a year ago and it was the Original Plus in Black cap with rose gold trim. So basically this pen minus the colors, medium nib in mine as well. Everything Hemingway said is exactly how I feel about mine. It's a good size and lighter than you'd expect. The medium nib is very smooth without feeling like an ice rink. It has a thinner line than most mediums to me, but not overly thin and it has a good ink flow. Excellent pen for the money.
I have no Idea as to what to say I have alot of pens and generally love buttery nibs, even my finer nibs are smooth I generally correct my nibs if I feel they are scratchy. My expectations have been set by LAMY SAFARI and LAMY AION which haven't yet been rivalled, expect the jowo broad on RANGA pens but broads are usually smoother so not considering it. Here all other pens I have are medium BUT I received my TWSBI vac700R yesterday and it is a bit scratchy on the left stroke it might have a small tin misalignment but the IRIS nib so pristine I am not brave enough to work on its nib correction , the pen isnt scratchy its just it has some feedback which I am not used to due to my LAMY experience. Its getting better but I thought twsbi would glide but it didnt for me atleast. It is the same shown here VAC700R iris. And Nahvalur seems like they have it under control seems to be smooth according to my review analysis. But Yeah even my twsbi came a bit scratchy but all I heard was it smooth or my be I am not used to a certain feedback, It was noticable on regalia and Rodia ppr but on normal journal paper it seems smooth. Any thoughts?
@@akshaysharma2786 It could be the ink you have, unless you've tried a more lubricated ink that you've used before and it's still the case. If the tines aren't misaligned then I would get some micro mesh pads and go at them with that. There are plenty of videos showing how to use them and smooth out a more rough nib. If you don't like feedback at all stay away from Sailor pens and Platinum. Aurora as well has a certain feedback to it like the two mentioned. It's not as if they aren't smooth. Feedback is a different breed. it's weird. It's smooth, but it has a bit of drag to it so it's not out of control. I've had scratchy extra fine nibs on cheaper Chinese pens before. It's not like that.
@@williamcatalano1762 I feel the same my twsbi is smooth but has a drag It's no way scratchy but the left stroke is a bit dragy. I did changed 3 inks 1st my most wet and free flowing ink Lamy turqousie and then Krishna Moonview it's very heavily sheening but then I cleaned and settle for Yama Budo till the time KWZ Eldarado arrives in the mail. I ordered the narwal pen in Broad that's why for glass feeling pens. I think I have been ruined by writting on my IPAD and Samsung tabs with s pens which is basically writing on glass. but the twsbi is smoothening on its own sorts ai feel.
I have owned the TWSBIVac 700r and loved how it looked but just didn’t feel very comfortable to write with to me. I received this one today and not only is it comfortable to write with, it is a STUNNER!
A beautiful pen, 10 out of 10 to Nahavalur for their designs. I have 4, including one original plus. Three of them are 'meh' on the writing experience. As opposed to churning out endless new designs IMHO they could better spend their energy on QA. I also have 4 TWSBIs and all 4 write consistently well and I know they will be reliable.
Nahvalur is a new brand to me. Thank you for the introduction. I know that all my TWSBI pens have worked 100% perfect. And consistent high quality also has value.
I have this exact pen in a different color and it's exactly how you described it in my experience. I'd pick the Nahvalur over the twsbi. Very good pen for the price! Great review Hemingway!
I would totally whip one of those out as we business pen. Then again that's one reason why i have be BENU Grand Scepter, when I sign a business document, they're gonna remember!
I have the gold Key West converter one. Love it, always makes me slow down a little when I'm writing which I very much appreciate & the gold sparkles are very similar!
Definitely need to get one of these. I have the same problems with the TWSBI. I also find the extra big nib on it difficult to use. I need to build my pen collection again. I moved recently and the movers lost my entire collection and the big Galen they were in!! Horror of horrors !
@@HemingwayJones I admit I wanted to jack slap someone!! 🤣🤣. It's just things but Dangit ! It's things Ive been collecting about 30 years. It's all good. In the end it's yet another new adventure to slowly build a new collection. 😜
I like both pens, but I prefer the clear body of the TWSBI for an unobstructed view of the ink, even shimmer inks. I used Caroube de Chypre in my TWSBI and that ink, sloshing around, was nice to enjoy between thoughts.
My TWSBI is such a great workhorse, and I can use shimmer and sheen inks in it with no issues whatsoever. I would choose the TWSBI! Awesome video Hemingway! Thank you! Lisa
I like both the TWSBI Vac and the Nahvalur Original Plus, and own several of each. I like the "bump" on the TWSBI. TWSBI nibs, however than Nahvalur nibs, in my experience, tend toward the over smoothed (especially in the wider sizes - B and BB), with hints of Baby's Bottom (not all of them but more often than I like.)
It is a beautiful pen at a very reasonable price point, but the one that had grabbed my attention was the Goulet Pens sixth annual limited and exclusive collaboration - The Franklin-Christoph Model 31 - Ascension Wing. The price point on this pen is very different, but so too is the resin it's made from. Have a look and see what you think!!
A glowing review of a glittering pen! Thank you! As for wanting this particular pen . . . for bling, I have my Euphoria Bourbon . . . as for the iridescence, how long does anodization take to rub off? I don't know! As for the vacuum fill system, I don't altogether like needing to open the blind cap to let air in while I write; and I have some good representatives of the fill system already. But, would I want to get one for my granddaughter in a few years? You bet!
I’m not use how long that rainbow effect stays on there. It is of course a coating, so there is that. I have had pens like this for a long time. Still, a valid point. Thank you!
Hi HJ! Thanks for showing us the Nahvalur Vac Filler! Not a bad price, either, for a Vac Filler with an In-house nib! Looks like they have lots of colors, too! The writing appears to be extremely acceptable, as well.
Thanks, HJ. My granddaughter would love that pen! I have to get her a fountain pen now since I gave her bubba one. I also have to get some nice stationary to write letters with.
Thanks. Not being a demonstrator guy, I doubt if either of these will be on my need to get list. That said if I had to choose, it would be the Navalure,, looks less like a demo, less clear, due to the glitter with out it being “over the top Benu - gaudy”.
When the Dilemma appears always I repeat MEN/WOMEN OF CULTURE always BUY BOTH, always both. My VAc700R IRIS arrived yesterday and Nahvalur In Matira White with shimmery white cap and bottom piston with clear demonstrator arriving this weekend.
I'm curious if Nahvalur has the same cracking issues that plague TWSBI. If not, I'd be very, very tempted. The cracking is really what puts me off the Eco and the 580. I wouldn't be taking the nib and feed out, but I've heard of cracking from people who swear they don't do that.
I have just discovered your channel as a recent pen hobbyist and I have to say, you make some great content! You've found another regular viewer! I do have a question though, as a physics student in university I write a lot of mathematics in my notes and find that numerical writing compared to alphabetical writing feels different per pen. Do you have any recommendations for a pen that writes numbers/operators smoothly?
Would you consider of making an update video on performance with pens like these? I’m leery about making a new purchase only on first impression reviews.
There is just this one thing that bugs me the twisbi vac cost me 100 to 120 dollars with shipping and the nahvalur costs 70$ shipping to INDIA, well I am happy to have the access its just that the relatively affordable pens generally don't remain affordable by the time they ship all around the globe here in INDIA.
