The Indiana Pacers have bursted into the 2023-24 NBA season in a fashion that almost nobody could’ve anticipated. Because with Indy having their promising young backcourt in Tyrese Haliburton & Bennedict Mathurin, new acquisitions in guys like Bruce Brown & Obi Toppin, and the rest of their young core under HC Rick Carlisle, the Pacers are operating one of the most absurd offenses we’ve ever seen in NBA history.
Now the Pacers, either from a transition offense or a half-court offense perspective, are leaving opponents clueless as to how to stop them. With Tyrese Haliburton running the show, other pick and plug pieces like TJ McConnell, Aaron Nesmith, Jalen Smith, Myles Turner, Jarace Walker, Andrew Nembhard, etc, their ‘best of both worlds’ approach to the Pacers offense is ridiculous on so many levels.
Now in terms of the Pacers defense, while it does need work, Rick Carlisle & company are showing how even with flaws and inexperience running rampant on this team, they will continue to thrive in the 2024 NBA season behind the playmaking, facilitating, and scoring of Tyrese Haliburton at the helm.
This video includes 2023 Indiana Pacers highlights, also including topics like Indiana pacers 2023, indiana pacers highlights, pacers vs sixers, pacers sixers, pacers 76ers, pacers vs magic, pacers magic, tyrese haliburton pacers highlights, tyrese haliburton assists, tyrese haliburton passing, tyrese haliburton interview, bruce brown highlights, bennedict mathurin pacers highlights, myles turner pacers, pacers news today, pacers trade rumors, pacers reaction, pacers live, pacers full game, pacers offense, pacers film, tj mcconnell pacers, andrew nembhard pacers, rick carlisle interview, haliburton jumpshot, haliburton jj redick, obi toppin pacers, pacers injury news, pacers preview, pacers basketball, pacers hawks, pacers bucks, pacers news, pacers highlights 2023, pacers rebuild, jarace walker pacers, indiana pacers podcast, pacers draft picks 2023, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RU-vid.

What’s weird is, nobody is on a crazy hot streak or playing way above expectations (besides Tyrese but this is really just who he is). Turner is the same as last season, Mathurin isn’t as productive as last season, Hield has been on a cold streak, Toppin has just been ok. Nesmith and Smith have improved but those are just 2 bench players. This makes me think that they can sustain this offense, because they’re not relying on a scorching hot run. This is just who they are normally tbh.

Yup. There’s nothing unsustainable happening. This is just the product of having one player that can create a very high quality shot every play who also never tries to do anything other than create a high quality shot. No heat checks. No taking plays off. Hali’s only goal is creating a high quality shot. And he does it relentlessly regardless of who is guarding him, when in the game it happens, who is catching his pass… It’s getting difficult to comprehend the level of offense he’s generating right now. Edit: Compare Indy to Dallas this year. They are the other top 2 offense, 1 point behind Indy (122.2 to 121.0). Dallas’s top 7 players in minutes are shooting 201-497 on threes, 41%. Pacers top 7 in minutes are 148-378, 39%. Indy is so nuclear on offense, that even with a little less help from three pointers, they’re still a whole point better. If anything, it’s fair to predict the gap between the Pacers and everyone else will get wider as shooting regresses towards the league average 3pt%.

I'm a Lakers fan and I knew this team was gonna blow up. You don't have to be a fan, you just need to follow the NBA and know that Hali Brown and Toppin were top 5 on transition buckets, Haliburton was gonna improve, you have Hield as a shooter and Mathurin as a future top 5 scoring wing. What's surprised me most about the Pacers' offense is they've finally figured out how to score when faced against zone defenses. This has rounded out their game to such as degree that they can now play a 3-pronged offense - post, mid-range and perimeter - and be practically unstoppable because defenses have a hard time guarding all 3 methods of play.

This type of play reminds me of how people were saying that the nuggets were the model team. They took Jokic and built a team around him of role players. That team made it to the playoffs off of that. The Pacers are doing the same thing with Tyrese now. They are building a team specifically around him and his playstyle. I know this is not a novel concept, but they are doing it well enough that I felt like it had to be mentioned

Real ones knew the Bruce Brown contract was great from the beginning. It's a two year with the second being a team option so they can choose to keep him or let him go after this season. It was a lot of money, but Pacers have a lot of rookie and cheap contracts so they had to hit their salary minimum. It doesn't hurt them in any way, shape or form. Besides that Bruce has been on great teams and a championship culture. He's not great at one thing, but he does everything well so you can essentially plug and play him in any lineup. That fits well with the Pacers deep bench and numerous combinations of lineups.

honestly it feels like the perfect way to play basketball for them. It's a system offense instead of relying on a superstar to do most of the heavy lifting. It has worked before, but it also always needs a superstar player to buy into and Tyrese Haliburton could be just that. teams aren’t letting the pacers shoot, they use player movement, penetration and haliburton’s vision to set people up for open looks. not to mention their 2 solid backup PG’s

their depth at PG is really impressive and without it the team wouldn't be able to play at this insane pace. Having that depth will hopefully keep TH fresh and injury free.

Getting better at post 7 second offense is a sign of maturing shot selection . When they get better at 18 to 24 second shot clock shot selection they may become elite closers . Defensively despite shot blocking turner and steal conscious McConnell they're still not very good. They still get in those 7 second or less trading baskets mode. Which has to stop . No 🛑 stops wins become accidental not intentional. Bruce will help he has that understanding.

Pacers were literally 4th seed before Haliburton went down last year. I can kind of say i predicted this 😂

Carlisle is letting the young guys play the way young guys want to play. Constant running, fast-breaks and threes. It wouldn't surprise me if we see them in 2nd round of playoffs.

Bruce Brown is nice. Big time glue guy. Like Draymond but quick, athletic and can shoot.

Being a pacers fan we need some defense. We put up 130 a game but lose half of them cus the other team puts up 140

I knew the Pacers would be good, last year when Haliburton was healthy they were awesome, especially the first half of the season. Their defense needs improvement. But they have so much young talent. Watch out for Nembhard and Mathurin!

They've faced 7 terrible teams to start the season, they will be lucky to even be the 10-8 seed this year. When they play good teams they look lost besides the single win against the 76ers. If they cant score they lose by a shit ton, the team plays zero defense and it all starts with Haliburton who is one of the worst starting PG's on that end of the court.

Tyrese is obviously a surprise but not really. I want to see how they do against teams in the west or just playoffs in general.
