I came from a second generation Scarlet to a two to a twin X duo H. Alex and this is like drinking water as a kid and then growing up and having your first beer or fine liquor.
Same for my situation as well, bro. This is the secret sauce that nobody really talks about and I understand why it cost so much now. I got the twinax, but auto tune was the first thing I got with my little bundle.
I have an Apollo quad and considering sending it back for a twin , I just want to be able to to cut vocals while monitoring autotune but not printing but want to be able to add an la2a or 610 or api and not have dsp overloaded. I’m thinking the quad may be overkill for my needs especially being that I have an actual hardware version of Manley VOXBOX with a Manley ref C mic it’s a good start going in. This vid was helpful on many levels. Good job bro! 👊🏽
I agree I bought that Auto Tune Realtime advanced from UA. I can't deal with Antares Central anymore.I use the solo with a Distressor and a Pultec in console and record then on the way in with a Mojave Tube Condenser going into a outboard ISA One Mic pre amp into the solo. All I put on my vocal channel is an instance of auto tune real Time Just to clean up stuff a little bit and Soothe 2 and you would think I recorded in a high end studio. I spent a couple weeks moving my mics around my room with acoustic treatment on the walls and corners with a cloud above it and when I hit the sweet spot. Holy Shit It Was Night And Day. I also have a SM7B and NT1 and recently purchased a Bluebird SL from Blue Microphones From Amazon for 139$ on sale and I'm getting a GREAT vocal sound from it. I also do parallel compression on a send with one instance of R VOX with the preset Lead Vocal and blend it in a decent amount. Anyone looking to get a phenomenal vocal sound from your Apollo but don't know where to start , start with that you'll be impressed with it. I run my outboard Mic Pre on a line input and nothing in the unison slot . Just the Distressor and Pultec is 2nd in the inserts under the unison slot. Remember small improvements from each plugin you use. Oh one more huge thing when it comes time to process your vocals . START WITH CLIP GAIN. Level your wavelength out to make it a little less dynamic and your compressor you put on it will thank you and in turn work magic on your vocals. a LA2A is a beautiful choice after you have done a good job using clip gain 1st. Goodluck. Good tutorial my friend I'm liking and subscribing!
That was my assumption too at first, I’m just not sure why it would be that way. The uad plug-in are running off the unit, but it’s still all just software, seems like Antares would be able to make it sound the same across the board.
Great video! I from Germany. Loved the visuals in a review! I´ve never seen smth like this before. I have a question about the DSP. Do you think the single DSP will be enough for a whole vocal chain? I also gotta use autotune and i don`t know how many more effect i can use till the DSP is at 100%
appreciate the love, good q. Yes, autotune will take up a lot of it, but I can usually run 4 or 5 more effects. Usually its a guitar amp emulator, reverb, delay, and a pre amp in the unison slot.
I keep trying to tell people that they DO NOT NEED THE TWIN. ESPECIALLY now that UAD went Native! I got this ONLY for the Unison Preamps. I own an SSL2+ and it was good, but NOT better than this piece!
Its quick but if u use fl u can print it out with edison and deactivate the old plugins so u have space for new ones. And while mixing u can turn of the uad console plugins it saves dsp too
I f I recall correct, I usually have a bout 60% full once I have a unison preamp and autotune. I usually print with the pre amp and autotune, then have an aux with reverb and delay. Then I have room for one more plugin. It's definitely tight, and if your uad heavy then getting something more powerful will help, but I treat it like its just a few key outboard hardware pieces for my vocals and I have a good time with it.
It was included in a promo bundle when I got it, but now you'd have to buy it separate. On sale for 99 right now, might be worth waiting for when they run the promo again, but its a well worth it either way.
It was limited, but they've run it before and I'm sure they'll run it again. It was the full Autotune Real-Time, essentially all the features of Autotune Artist.
That’s what worries me about it. I’ve heard other people mention the unit dying after only having it a short time, the focusrite is bullet proof, had two of em for 7 years. Sometimes mine won’t turn on, usually after a computer restart or two it’ll come back tho.
@@IanBellueMusic i was getting electrical shocks from my outlet when i wanted to put my speaker cables in the apollo a few months ago. maybe thats why i also had a small magnet on the table. b4 it stopped working i walked away for 1 hour and when i came back it didnt work, the only one there was my cat. there where 2 things what i dindnt liked about the apollo solo 1: it got really hot 2: couldnt talk to my friends on discord or similar apps. now i have focusrite 3rd gen and external preamp
It does but only sometimes. It was during a promo bundle, I’ve seen them run it with autotune many times. Just gotta make sure you cop during one of those promos, or it’s 100 - 200 bucks extra. Honestly worth it either way.
@@Hilmo91 I use a Klark Teknik CM-1, similar to a cloud lifter. I've heard it doesn't need it, some recommend going direct for a cleaner signal, but something about it gives it the tone I'm looking for. One of my homies does the same thing, seems to be part of the sauce
Uad autotune is no better than autotune pro , fact is uad autotune works little different to the original one , the only reason i will use uad autotune pro to get rid of artifacts pops clicks due to cpu spikes with autotune pro , relief uad autotune uses dsp and makes everything easy but still uad is lighter version of autotune pro but it works 8 times out of 10 than original antares autotune pro
