I have come to the conclusion that there are some people in this world that make it their life mission to go out every day and piss people off for no reason whatsoever and it's probably because they are just very unhappy and miserable people that don't want to see others enjoying their lives. Keep living your best lives and ignore the saddos 💕

Lying, grasping, violent territorialists. How bizarre that no cognitive dissonance was triggered by that high-horse behaviour, claiming the moral upperhand... despite them KNOWING they were lying & actually thugging, ready to batter an innocent family. When unhinged & irrational people become angry, best move is to immediately gtfo of there. Don't enter the fray. The danger is massively compounded when it's a whole group of them & feels really like the zombie films because the mind spins from the whole-other-level display of irrationality & bs to justify their psychosis & the clearly impending violence they're jonesing to inflict on you. You don't even have time to fathom the mentalness of it all because sizing the danger & them has to take precedence. Steps: Ascertain the leader. A slow, commanding voice & attitude will diminish the gall of whichever karen is leading the fray. Issue orders. Our erstwhile friend managed two out of three of those so actually, great job. The amygdala triggering adrenaline, our physiological reaction to that is beyond our control. It's main job is to alert us to threat & flood us with hormones that will serve us well in fight or flight, so the fail is actually a win - his body is healthily functioning!

There is no wilderness in Britain, it is one huge managed farm. The farm animals are the humans, they have to compete against one another for handouts of metalic tender discs which they exchange for food and shelter and this is the reason why they don't get along. The slave owners laugh and mock us in their Hollywood movies but the sheeples are blissfully unaware of their plight due to relentless TV brainwashing. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength - 1984

I had a guy attack me while I was night fishing, giving the billy big, he spat at me.I’m 6 foot 5 and 17 stone. Watching the colour drain from his face and then the thud as his nose connected to my right hand. Funnily enough he disappeared whimpering and I went back to sleep. New subscriber and van dweller. As a doorman of 22 years experience.. In no way did I see you losing your cool. I thought it was a measured response setting clear boundaries to protect your family and your personal space from an aggressor..simple. In my experience anyone who steps back and folds their arms had violence as intent as is literally restraining themself by doing so. Looking forward to checking out your back catalogue and new travels :) Namaste.

Thank you for you comment and the benefit of your experience. I felt the same when he folded his arms and that's why I continued to attempt to make space between him and my boy who was sat right behind me. I feel like I did loose my cool a little when the adrenaline kicked in, I try to show Maximus a way with words. He is on the Autistic Spectrum and has developmental delay and anxiety. His emotional develop meant is around 4 years old, even though he looks like a "neurotypical" boy things can effect him. It was definitely a balance of trying to give a measured response and trying to show Maximus the right way. In that I definitely feel I lost my cool a little. Still nice to hear from someone who has had to deal with these things day in day it, my gut reactions were inline with the situation a you saw it. Thanks for the Sub, hope you enjoy our videos ✌️

@@traveling-taylors Thankyou for the response..much appreciated :) I've also worked as a peer based councilor and simply wanted to say that Maximus seems a charming young man and I appreciate his sensitivities and also your desire to set a good example as his protector when faced with emotional volatility from another. I thought you did a Sterling job of balancing your response to the aggression you all experienced in an isolated environment... Bullies only tend to respond to perceived negative consequences for them and it's worth considering how it may have escalated had you not 'lost your cool' as you perceive it. Perhaps go easy on yourself..we are good men..not superman ;)

It was a traumatic experience for all of you and your obviously empathic nature will attempt to discern with hindsight how it (you) could have been 'better'. You did what you did in the moment and it worked out the best it could have when it could have been so much worse...it's obviously not in your nature to have to talk to people that way and it isn't sitting comfortably with you...that's on him and his wife...not you. Doesn't sit well though even now. It also opens us up to peoples thoughts and opinions and although most see it for what we did there are always those that see it differently and reply with abuse - even if then don't realise that's what they are doing. Thankfully only one so far Thanks again for your comments

Ive dealt with these types before, best thing to do is to open the door as hard and fast as you can whilst they are stood there (use your foot to create momentum) they usual end up on the floor at which point you can jump out and determine whether or not further force is required to protect yourself and your family from potential harm..... if someone comes banging on your van in the night, deal first and ask questions later..

I live in a van (t6). Always park facing my exit, straight wheels, 3ft gap to the rear of the van so as to reduce becoming blocked. First bit of perceived trouble, l always move to my second choice pre- chosen, as it reduces confusion in that moment. In a back handed way, the old couple did all of you a favour, Maximus woke up in a location he liked, you got the best footage from the trip, and as a family you all shrugged it off. I would have moved after the interaction with the woman. Unfortunately, we don't get the abuse for who we are and how we act, we get it for all the previous van dwellers who have parked there before. I don't stay in places just because I'm entitled to and it's legal, I stay in places that are safe and that is my priority. Packing up and driving 20 minutes to a back up spot is far less hassle than dealing with 'the knock'.
@traveling-taylors
@traveling-taylors 9 месяцев назад
It was so very quiet and safe we didn't expect the knock. We don't park anywhere just because we have rights but we won't be intimidated by people telling us we have no rights either. We just want a quiet, peaceful life, hence why being responsible and respectful citizens. Unfortunately for the guy that wanted to fight with Graham, he will knock on the wrong door one day and will be met with somebody less restrained. I hope that doesn't happen but inevitably it will. People know their rights nowadays and don't take kindly to bully boy tactics. We did move on though and find somewhere else that was peaceful.

Wow, that was intense. I think you can guess my reaction G. I'm so very sorry you having to go through this. I realistically agree you handled it legally and you had Maximus to think of but they had already traumatized him so they already did the damage. If that had been our Harley or Mikey they would have gone into full blown meltdown as I am sur Maximus probably did. I know for sure our Harley would probably never have got in the van again. I hope it hasnt upset Maximus badly and put him off going in Wooflie again. That would be a tragedy that would be heart breaking and destroy everything you are trying to build for a life for him. I think he was a pompous up himself prat filled with his own self importance and was darned lucky he hadnt done that to someone who would have given both of them instant flying lessons with no yoga experience needed. This has just upset me so much. Its the first time ever from following you guys and supporting the channel that I have been so upset for you all. I dont think I'll forget the emotion in your voice ever, G. You are a top top man and I am so darned proud of you for defendng your family from knuckle dragging idiots. @traveling-taylors 10 месяцев назад
Thanks Kenny, Maximus was really upset. They just didn't understand why we were asking the to leave and move away. Only when Maximus was already crying and rocking from the incident with the wife. I didn't show it as he doesn't want to see it again. I always ask him what he would like in the videos. It is only fair. They didn't go away proper till he was screaming and pressing the horn for long periods. Thankfully our boy is well supported and loved and we took the time after the incident to reassure him he did nothing wrong and that they were not very nice people. His innocence and trusting of other people is still there and he still loves his Wolfie. We talked to him about what he wanted to do after that situation, about moving or going home - which ever he chose we would follow his wishes. He chose to stay and wanted to move away from the nasty people. He wanted to stay his one more night of his holiday. We moved and reassured him again and settled him down. Thankfully he woke up happy and the people next to us were lovely with him, we spent an hour talking to them and he explored in their van and asked a million questions. They definitely helped him forget about what the night before had brought. I probably sound like I was having a moan about them - when in reality I have no problem with what they were doing. They left no trace and turned everything down at a reasonable time. We had just had a fill and wanted calm, part of the reason we seek out places of solitude to camp in the first place Maximus has had another adventure since in Wolfie and is looking forward to his next after Christmas. He is midering me everyday to do the jobs that need doing for the colder weather 😊

My favourite site in the peaks is the one next to the top of Stanage Edge on the road from Ringinglow on the back road to Hathersage. A bit windy but it ensures a peaceful night's sleep from human interruptions. I have a brilliant system in my van. It's an ex-tesco delivery van and was fitted with a 4-camera system with recorder. i managed to get it to work independently off the house battery system. So if I hear a 'worrying' noise in the night I can fire up the recording system and check all the cameras on my viewing screen while still in my warm bed!

Thanks, it is hard to watch someone accosting my child when it is clear once he talks back he has the communication level of a 4 year old. This didn't stop the wife and I had to place myself between them and get Maximus in the Van. I wish I had the audio but I still had the externalics plugged in and not switched on. I tried to communicate as pleasantly as possible with her that she was verbaly attacking and intimidating ( with the Shep )a child with additional needs. She didn't like that, but I just said there are now signs only the public footpath and no public access on the water works. She left saying she was going to call the police. Then he bounced at the window and into the Van. Another person commented they heard my voice break and I was scared, I was to be fair - I was affraid I was going to have to do something in front of my son that I didn't want to do. I was afraid I would loose my cool. The adrenaline kicks in at the point my voice breaks and that is where rational thought normally leaves and fight or flight kicks in. I didn't want to fight in front of my son, but there was no other option than to push forward and get him out of the space. He clearly looked like he wanted to fight and that was not acceptable. Even now I play it over and over again. The positive response has backed my own thought process, I am not going to lie though. My body and mind had a trauma response both to my own situation and to what Maximus had been exposed to. He is so young in his emotional and social development and things like this can leave an impression. We don't let him watch fighting or play games with fighting in. He is still more interested in Peppa pig. Some people just don't get it. He has violent outbursts towards us though and we know how hard he can hit. He is the size of a small man 😊 with the development age of a toddler. He doesn't yet understand how to control those emotions or feelings. Sorry for the war and peace reaponse. Best wishes to you and your family and thanks again for watching and commenting 🙂

I’m so sorry to hear you all went through this, in the moment it’s bloody terrifying…. Myself and friend were in a similar position….a man didn’t like her dog (15 months old poodle).. so he kicked the dog and then came at us when we tried protecting the dog… he was nose to nose, bright red, veins popping, spitting as he shouted his diatribe (hates campers it seems)… I put my arm out and instructed him to “back off, step back” he took that really badly, he went to hit me 😮… he completely lost it…. Luckily I was able to move side on and he hit past me….. my dad taught all of his daughters well, Iv done BUJ, MMA and boxing for over 25 years…. I had trained my whole life for that interaction…. I wrapped myself around him like a snake, took his back and rear naked choke until he dozed off… then I lifted his legs to help him come around and suggested again “back off” he tried one last attack and again missed his target, at that point I hit him and we left…. He was shouting “I will get you next time”…. There are some dreadful people about… he was an angry drunk little man…. Everyone should learn self defence on some level…. I think it saved us…. Once your limbic system kicks in, it’s really hard to think outside of frames, so the more you practice the more natural it is…. Meet them with the same level of violence they meet you and if they do go nose to nose, exceed their level of violence, he really underestimated his marks that night You handled it beautifully, clear instructions and you held your own, bloody scary

Thank you - sorry to hear you went through that for standing your ground. That is always a concern with any incident like that. As Maximus has developmental delay he only has the emotional age of a 4 year old and just going through that was traumatic enough for him without seeing his dad fighting with a guy. He was right up in my face and my main thought was just to get him out of the space a Maximus was directly behind me. Thankfully I managed to move him out of the door without it escalating. There was a moment though when I worried it would become something more when he didn't move back immediately. Thanks again for watching and commenting :-)

Whether you were in the right or wrong for staying there, there was no need for their aggression. Just a polite word to advise that the road was private (if this was the case) & to ask that you kindly move on…perhaps even pointing out another spot for you to stay, as they’d know the area! Bullies, she had a pop at your lad, thinking he was an easy target. Notice how the man absolutely wilts, when you say "don't start". You just have to set these types right from the off. Firmly let them know, mouthing off isn't ever going to work. I have delivered a sharp, sobering, open-handed slap to violent aggressors if there was no other option. Obviously this can escalate, and these types are looking to goad you, then get the police. As opposed to raking you on themselves.

I think there is an increasing number of people in this society who have a toxic combination of being utterly miserable, bored and entitled. Rather than find some meaning in their lives, like you and your family clearly have, they like to impose their chronic unhappiness on other people. Especially people whom they see doing something fulfilling and positive. It's a form of jealousy I think. Anyway, regards and best of luck from Dublin, Ireland.

In nine years of full timing I 've only had one very strange incident with older Frecnhman who decided my vintage motorhome was smoking too much as I waited for the air brakes to prime on a winter morning . After a few choice French swear words he came at me with a hammer , but stopped when I didn't move an inch and pointed my finger straight at him shouting " ARRET " !😂 Luckily the age difference made it more slapstick than anything and he seemed to realise he'd lost the plot . slinking back to his own motorhome and slamming the door . I appreciate your incident was far more serious and you handled it well . Good strong response that made it clear you wouldn't be intimidated . People can be very unpredictable though so moving on after the event was the sensible thing to do !!

Been living in this van for around 3x years, Think I've only had 1x knock when parked at a RSPB but I could hear his friends saying "But he's got a right to park here", another occasion I was parked in a public road on the edge of a Castle Estate, I had the local security stop in front of my van flashing light, I've got a bulkhead and no windows only 2x sky lights so was hardly aware, they passed the following morning, we chatted and all was OK. My worst one was when I was parked down a country lane on a Saturday evening at a spot I've stayed at many times, was aware of a commotion outside turned out to be 5-6 Police cars with lights flashing but no sirens, clearly they were looking for someone or something, I knew that if I opened my door they would try to do me for something, but as they hadn't knocked and had no reason to I didn't open the door, they left after a few minutes but left one car with WPC's possibly Plastic cops, they tried intimidating me by saying "This is Really Suspicious, clearly up to no good"' followed by "We've called the locksmith who said he'll rip my door off in seconds so we can make an arrest", I continued to watch Star Trek with headphones on one ear, a few minutes later they said "OK a tow truck is on its way"' but then they drove off LoL. I'm sure you do what most van folk do as in be polite and pick up rubbish etc. Hope thats your first and last knock, you can't help what others think or do, clearly their world must be pretty sad in order to chose to interfere with others rather than live and let live.

I live in the US, the State of Florida. People here don't often bang on someone's car and threaten others. Many of us are armed and legally carry firearms. Our laws permit us to stand our ground, no duty to retreat. And our vehicles are covered by what is called the "Castle Doctrine", meaning our homes and cars are, our castle and can be defended...should be defended. Certainly our wives and children fall under that doctrine. We have a God given right. to defend ourselves and have retained the right to be armed to ensure our own safety. Contrary to media reports, we are not a lawless society. At least in Florida, and other states like Texas, Arizona, Alaska and some others; we are quite polite to each other. And if threatened, we exercise our judgement, skills and common sense (most of the time) in making decisions that are best for us. Sometimes it is best to retreat, but we are not obligated to and can use deadly force to defend our selves and loved ones...and be home by dinner. This fellow, his wife and her menacing dog, would probably have stayed home and carped about traveler's in vans, on their Facebook page (maybe not the dog). .
@traveling-taylors
@traveling-taylors 7 месяцев назад
Unfortunately for the dog he was just following instruction. It's never the dogs fault, always how they are brought up. I know you guys over in the states can and do still carry firearms, and like dogs, the gun is only dangerous if the owner needs it to be. We don't have guns on the streets anymore, well not legally - there is still and element of gun and knife crime. A number of decades back we had a mass shooting and firearms were banned. I am thankful for that really, we haven't had an incident like that since and for the majority of us we can breath easier without them. They just weren't nice people I think, others from round that way have said he is known locally. I don't think he expected me to push back instantly and move him out. He lost his point straight away. Thankfully words were all that I needed as I really want to show Maximus that is the way :-) Thanks for watching and commenting

Thank you, it turned my stomach editing it. I don't want to show their face as that is just not us. I have said a couple of times I didn't know weather to include it, we do try to keep it all positive, probably to the detriment of views and such as RU-vid seems to thrive from controversy. I think this is the first time in 123 videos we have had something like this. It was real though and what happened - so it was part of our travels. We said we would call the police and they replied with we know them all, like it gave them the right to behave as they did. 🤯 As for the drone, there is around 5 minutes of footage of it fighting against the updraft from that dam. I had a little bit of a sweat on thinking it was going to drop and that would be it. The battery light came on and wind warnings, return to home couldn't work cause it was stuck. I was so happy when I got it out of the main wind and could get it back to us. :-) The back stroke made me chuckle 🤣 Thanks as always 🤠

You know as well as we do this was just two complete idiots and a one off bonkers incident, karma will not take kindly to what happened. :-) drones - great bits of kit, cause some worry though. Yes unfortunately drama sells - Maximus watches every video we make, he loves to talk about his adventures. So we don't like drama, we like the videos to display his good behaviour and create positive reinforcement. That's why we don't include his meltdowns or go into to much detail in the videos. Would you believe we get thumbs down on episodes where we don't include those things, for some macabre reason people want to see our child at his lowest. We just don't oblige. This was real though and it highlights other peoples behaviour towards him and towards people who decide to travel in their vans, whether that be full time or just as we do when we can. It's sad really as people use the term freeloaders a lot, personally before we had a child with additional needs and before that as a single person I worked for some big companies and gave them blood. 6 in the morning till 10 a night with travel either side of that. Yes I made some decent money, I also paid some ridiculous amounts in tax. When I had my own business even more in tax. As everyone who has a bricks and mortar setup up does, we pay council TAX. As anyone anywhere who shops, we pay value added TAX on everything. Our vehicle we pay road TAX and TAX on fuel. No one in this country who wants to eat and live is a "free loader" It sickens me the way everything is geared in the UK to make you think less of your fellow human being and to question ever single penny your neighbour may or may not get. All the while our Social services and when I say that I mean things a population has basic needs for eg: GAS, ELECTRIC, WATER, PUBLIC TRANSPORT, NHS. All these things have been or are being sold so they can make billions for share holders whilst the infrastructure is crippled and left to rot. The system is skewed so people focus on benefit payment that cost a few million in comparison to tax evasion's that cost trillions. It's a sad state of affairs in the UK and across the wider world. Wow, I got off on a tangent then, back to the point - people are brainwashed to think anyone that doesn't comply to the norm and feed the corruption in the system is somehow their enemy and needs to be confronted. In doing so it legitimises behaviour like we experienced as have countless others. I wish their was a lot more love and peace and good energy, we wish you the same and thank you for yours 🙏

@@traveling-taylorsif he's saying he knows all the Police (& not lying) that means they're condoning his behaviour so the Police need to be reported too, to their County Police, to the elected Commissioner, to the Ombudsman & above all to both your MP & theirs. If the situation is left it *_will_* escalate, eventually to a situation like Oliver Twist or like Palestine. _I_ certainly don't want our country taking that route & I doubt many do. We all have to protect our families, that's perhaps one of the oldest of human instincts. Here in the US, these type of encounters unfortunately escalate fairly quickly, but I have always counselled my husband to refrain from violence if at all possible. We have so many mental health issues that can easily escalate, and most people don't want to harm a mentally ill individual if at all possible. We are finishing the years long task of raising 2 special need granddaughters, and hope to go on our own "vanlife" adventures in another year, but based on the fact it will be in the US, we will have protection stashed against the worst case scenarios...

It is a sad unfortunate thing that as camper van owners we have to deal frequently with entitled people. Who believe that the road or land that you are parked on is theirs and that they have a right to bang on your doors, window side of van anytime they want to. I think that they want that confrontation to get you to their level. At least you got it on camera...Ray

I am replying backwards to you - just the way they pop up. Yeah we had a trip out a couple of weeks back and had 4 cars sat outside revving up, they were playing music aswell but I just didn't get the revving. I went out to talk with them and they were only kids and alright to be fair. Asked them if they were being funny or what, they didn't realise we were in there to be fair to them. They stopped the revving and turned the music down a bit. They stayed for about another 15-20 minutes and then made their way.

@@traveling-taylors yeah like I said that's a typical scenario with the boy racers ,my advice would be and don't get me wrong probably like yourself ,I'm game as a shithouse rat and normally was tooled up in the van ,but I wouldn't bother going out to em normally they get bored ,after half hour I couldn't be arsed giving them satisfaction of letting ,them know they were bothering me sometimes I've just slipped shorts on ,and gone through front curtain and re located van nearby lol.

There's always some Nimby W ⚓ who think they own the place. If you act calmly you can explain it's a public road and you're within your rights. If they try to act aggressively and intimidate you - I tend to go full on wild and they back off quick. If they call the law the law won't do owt. If they are civil I just ask why they thought they needed to approach a vehicle if they didn't know if it'd be safe. Put the onus on them. Also make sure you know it's public land or a public road, that tends to put them off when you know all the facts. Coming to the door with a dog like that was obviously an intimidation tactic - I'd say : "if you don't want your dog gassed move him away - I have the right to protect myself by law". But I don't have a young child with me. Don't raise your voice look them square in the eyes and tell them to back off for their own safety. Sorry you had to deal with the village morons - You did right to move on. They tend to try and get help when you send them off and some don't have the brains to get off and keep their noses out. I use strong language but I don't lose my temper and I don't shout in fact I lower my voice and look right at them, they back off fast.

She didn't know that of course so she was getting more angry with him not understanding her ( not that ehat she was saying was correc) she was holding her dog to try and intimidate him. When I moved between them and gor Maximus back in the van she came at me. I pointed out it where it stated public access and no public access. She left and then the husband came at me like he did. Maximus also has anxiety and that left him very upset. We moved because he didn't want to stay. No need for any of it. Thank you for your comment and sub. Hope you enjoy our little videos. Thanks for sharing. Having access from sleeping area to the front seat has always been a priority and this highlights the reason. I cannot understand people who design a van whereby they have to exit the van in order to get to the drivers seat to leave. Also, thread the seat belts through the door handles before bed. If anyone smashes or picks the lock they cannot immediately open the door. Ending on a positive, enjoy your travels and happy days.

Hello, Maximus is on the Autistic Spectrum and was non Verbal till he was 7. Even now he has basic communication Skills and doesn't understand complex communication. He like to be outside the Van with his Robot or his iPad (if you watch a few of our videos you will understand) The Woman accosted him and started telling him he shouldn't be there (which was rubbish). He didn't understand and would have replied with what's your name or something along those lines. She then started to get aggressive with him and pulled her German Shepherd back so he went into hi alert (like you see police do) This was when I had to step out and between them. We go away to try and stay out the way of people - yes there are always two sides to every story but in this case she was just a horrible woman and treated a child with additional needs disgracefully. Even after I told her he was on the Spectrum she let her Husband come out and confront us like that. She had no right to approach our child like that. As I said watch some more of our videos and you will see what we are all about and how Maximus communicates. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
