Russ never played with a vet type of player with that “hey cut that shit out” or “calm your ass down” type of personality . He would’ve benefited from an Andre Igodala, Lebron James type personality. He’s never been at a franchise with a strong personality coach or executive. Imagine Russ under Pat Riley or a Greg Popovich. Harden and KD have soft spoken personalities

Mike dantoni told his ass to stop shooting 8 attempts from 3 while also giving him a limit of 2 3s per game and focus on running and gunning on fast break 3s to teammates and ofcourse driving in. That was why Russell did so well in the month of January and February before corona happened. Then in the bubble Russell went back to being Russell bonehead. He really a liability in all honesty and rockets really going thru it. It’s like when russ bulked up he lost his ability to shoot the middy and everything just became ass

Mc Reacts MDA didn’t tell him that, Westbrook said he’d stop shooting 3s and he did until the playoffs for some reason.

I second this.A buddy of mine sent me an article on what if clippers acquire Westbrook but I told him it's a 50/50 as while Westbrook is a Kobe-esque player, he is being a score first instead of his required role of a floor general. If in his rookie years, he had gotten like Pat Riley or Pop, or even Phil Jackson(yes he suck as an exec but u don't win 11 rings without being a top coach) he would have benefit from being told to stop his tendencies. He need a guy like Lebron atm who distribute the ball, otherwise he is just gonna pass his prime and be a Mello

@The Book Of ƬЯXPXP 5 years ? Nah . I was around long before turnover Westbrook, in fact , I was watching Magic Johnson say" Westbrook is the worst point guard he's ever seen in the Finals" after game 1 of OKC vs MIA. Look ,I know he has these out of touch fans ,and I understand that some of them might be young kids that don't have the reference points to compare Westbrook to other point guards in history, but I do. You can disagree with me if you wish, but I'm well informed on the position, Westbrook was terrible before the Miami Finals and nothing has changed. KD and Harden covered up for his wild ,out of control play.

Westbrook standing still like he some consistent3pt shooter 💀😂😂😂😂 He should really do off ball movement while harden has the ball. Hardens offensive gravity opens up a lot of possibilities for westbrook
@TheNorthie
@TheNorthie 3 года назад
The problem is that the system in place for Harden doesn’t allow that. Before in OKC he could do that and when he did, he was dangerous as his gravity sucked defenders in. However he rarely did this as he would usually attack the rim or pass the ball out and hang out above the 3pt line. Idk why he did this, but many say he did this to get the ball back and make something happen.

This video makes it clear why Kevin Durant left OKC. Westbrook is a good player, but all those flaws are getting exposed hard. That's mainly due to Scott Brooks offense. Brooks's offensive system at the time was give the ball to the 3 young stars and let them do their thing. That limited Westbrook and that's mainly why he has all these flaws. That makes sense if you ask me. Like if it makes sense.
@peteraudu4554

Justin Washington Now we are taking it too far. Let's not blame the coach that the star player doesn't watch enough games or want to run sets. Yeah the coach could have been better. But if winning is the priority some of those bone headed plays don't happen. Westbrook never learned to pick his spots. Playing at one speed just isn't winning basketball in the new NBA.

I know it doesn't make for a good video but the real problem was how OKC enabled him. I remember an OKC media member came on True Hoops podcast a couple of years ago and elaborated about it. Little shit like him paying all his bills in the practice facility and freezing out media members. Some people within the Thunder hated the way he treated the staff on a daily basis but wouldn't say anything for fear of losing their jobs, stuff people would kill LeBron for if they had heard about it. Ignoring alot of coaches plays, KD went to management about it a couple times and it was told his concerns went unheard. They talked about how how The Thunder were the only game in town and how it affected how they handled their stars. I mean honestly this stuff was public knowledge but went ignored.

That's why I think some people think it's hard to believe CP3 is just better than Westbrook. One always scores, unstoppable and always memorable. The Other tries to do more with the Team to always score, be unstoppable as a whole but never memorable. That's simply why Some students I know here say the Lakers is better than the Tim Duncan era Spurs. Because spurs never really had any notable superstar.

The reason rockets got Westbrook is because gsw was the team to beat for them. They came close last playoff but came short because of cp3 injury. With two backcourt superstars, curry became vernerable in defense so their idea was to replace cp3 with another and more healthier superstar. Rocket’s problem was as they were tuning the team to face gsw, it became weaker against other teams. If capella wa still there, they would have matched up better against lakers.
