Harvey you are a young man and I am impressed with how smart you are. Regarding differences between the UK and China, I can add to this debate. I lived for 30 years in the UK but moved to HK a while back and am very happy with my life here. The public transport is fantastic so I don’t have to buy a car to get around town. It‘s really safe here as well. I believe by and large the government is trying their best to look after the local population just like every city across China. It’s sad to see how low the UK has fallen but the government only know how to do America’s bidding and cannot seem to get out of it’s rut. There is no manufacturing industry to speak of in the UK anymore and all the world leading companies like ARM have either been sold off or like Dyson have moved abroad. The only world class industry the UK has left is the British education system which means a lot of the British schools have successfully set up shop in HK and across China. I think if the UK wants to improve the living standards and raise their economy, they will have to stop following whatever America demands and forge closer business ties with China and the BRICS nations. However I don’t think that is likely to happen and the UK could very well become a 3rd world country as evidenced by the already crumbling infrastructure and the shocking state of the NHS.

The reason why China is willing to incur losses to build railways in remote areas is not for the immediate benefits of the transportation expenses, but to enhance communication and connectivity between remote areas and advanced regions, with the wealthy regions driving the development of poor ones, thus enabling people to get rid of poverty from the root. This aligns with two famous Chinese proverbs: giving fish is not as good as teaching fishing, and if you want to get rich, build roads. This long-term development strategy is based on China's one-party system, where the Communist Party can focus on developing the country rather than boring elections and party politics.

The following article is written by Ismail Bashmori, he is an Egyptian China watcher. The truth is that China is the greatest country on the face of the earth. It makes all other countries look insignificant and contemptible. It is the most brilliant, most industrious, most ambitious, most educated, meritocratic and technocratic, most modern, sophisticated, and civilised, and best-governed by far. It is the first non-white, non-Western country to reach this status since the 1600s. The determination of this country is indescribable. Supernatural. There is no force that can stop it from accomplishing anything it wants to do. 。 It doesn’t matter who we are. Egyptians, Syrians, Pakistanis, Indians, Africans, even Americans. Next to the Chinese, we are pathetic. We can’t do what they do. We would have a mountain, an Everest of changes to make, and we would whine and bicker and fail at every one of them. China’s story since the 1980s has been one of an almost divine metamorphosis. 。 Next to China the entire Western world from Alaska to New Zealand has stagnated. Next to China the entire developing world from Brazil to Madagascar has progressed only at a crawl. China is the mother of all gargantuan bullet trains. Every day it manages to create something new and astonishing. And unlike the United States, unlike the British Empire, unlike the French, Dutch, Germans, Spanish, Portuguese or any other Western nation that had its turn at being a superpower in the past four centuries, China doesn’t need to run anybody over or take something from somebody else, to rise majestically. China is also standing up to the West all by herself. The West can’t believe their four-hundred-year-old global supremacy is being challenged. They hoped that the more China developed, the more it would submit to their influence, interests, and leadership. That didn’t happen. So now they will do anything possible, short of a nuclear war, to make China end. Their goal is to destroy this country. That’s why, although the United States has killed several million people and turned several regions of the earth into hellscapes. China is the worst fear of our planet’s Western masters. They want you to despise and dread a country that’s done nothing to you, that hasn’t invaded anyone, bombed or sanctioned anyone, that hasn’t overthrown any foreign government, or used its military on anything since 1979. China is the only major country in the nonwhite developing world, to stand up to the West. To look it in the eye when challenged or threatened. The Global South are simply Western puppets who submitted long ago. Even the most powerful ones. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India. Above only part of the article, you can read the full article under the following link. www.dailyexpress.com.my/read/4459/west-can-t-believe-nor-accept-china-s-progress/?fbclid=IwAR3aJYSZC3rbUgM1NwHCO73XxnNzNkJPa9wrSsFp-4KMxTozuJiHBwLJDXU

Britain is politically the little brother of the United States. When the United States ordered a ban on Huawei, the British government obeyed. After banning Huawei equipment, the UK's 5G network speed was at the bottom of the G7. So now there is no signal on the British subway. When the Russo-Ukrainian war broke out, Britain was forced to buy high-priced gas from the United States. Perhaps this can be explained as "path dependence". Historically, Britain has always relied on external conflicts to transfer internal conflicts. It is happy to create confrontation and chaos between countries on the European continent, create ethnic conflicts in colonies to suppress colonial resistance, and suck blood from colonies to feed the British mainland. Until today, Britain has lost its original ability: it has no ability to continue to create chaos in other countries (although they still do so, but they fail more often), and it has no ability to suck blood from colonies (the colonies have been dismembered by its son, the United States). Therefore, when internal conflicts broke out in Britain, it was powerless.

The problematic process and domestic politics is part of the cause. There's an invisible issue: Where's the money that could be invested into the infrastructure? The answer is the money spent on the bombing of Libya, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Iraq, and supporting Ukraine.... China doesn't have those expenses and saves the money for railways and roads. Military actions are expensive. The western public are brainwashed by the media and journalists with fanatic pseudo-religious of human rights and democracy, trying to fight against evil regimes to liberate oppressed people. So all the money for infrastructure is gone without objection of the public. Not only is the fund for infrastructure missing, a bigger consequence is that the suffering of the huge population in war areas is not sensible by western public. They only see the waves of illegal immigration from those war areas that change the landscape of European society, creating more conflicts without knowing the association to the journalist fanatic belief that only they understand humanity and concept of liberal democracy, evil CPP is too dumb to understand, even there are better infrastructure under CPP's governance.

@@miacastellon7290 It's OK! Because a lot of money in China is used for public infrastructure, including roads, railways, electricity, municipal construction, public education funds, social security (Skynet system, security surveillance cameras in all public places across the country), national financial subsidies for national medical insurance funds, social welfare security, etc. These facilities have brought a lot of benefits to citizens across the country, such as cheap electricity at 10 cents/kWh. In the financial war between the United States and China over the past few years, the United States wants to make China's economy collapse. However, China has strong economic strength, and the United States itself is not strong enough. When the United States starts to cut interest rates, the world's currency will flow into China in large quantities, and the Chinese economy will become very active. However, as long as the United States starts to cut interest rates, the value of the US dollar exchange rate will depreciate rapidly!

@@JohnSmith-sm7ezTap water in China is no less drinkable if you insist on drinking it in the US, the UK, etc., but it is not recommended. With much more affordable bottled water, more installation of household water purification systems, and a longstanding preference for warm/hot water, why drinking tap water which has a higher concentration of salt that gives rises to kidney stones, can be contaminated in the degraded pipes between the water plants and your home, and tastes obviously worse? In fact the government knows very well calling tap water drinkable doesn’t make it drinkable, but it does it anyway. For example in the US, EPA is fully aware that compared to bottled water, there could be much more metallic ions like lead and copper, residual chlorides and fluorides, etc. However, it never imposed any standards regarding the presence of these substances because it believes they aren’t the major threat to health. At least, I never drank tap water without boiling first in the US and I installed a water softener to be nicer to my hair when I shower.

No point keep comparing UK with China, if most of the people still live in their la la land believing in their own superiority, without realising how the greedy capitalism has consumed the society? If you privatise all the key services what can you expect? Before these profiteering companies put in any penny of investment they must first look at the ROI. In the current climate the investor lobbyists are influencing the public policies but their primary objective is to appease the stakeholders not the public. Previously the capitalists are happy to make 10% returns but today they want to make 20% in half of the time. Therefore in a highly privatised environment, no investors will park large amounts of money into long term infrastructure projects. Blame it on your own gov who started to privatise all the key essential public systems such as transport, communication, energy etc it is quite hard to believe the public actually accepted reasons from the gov that privately owned and operated services would be more efficient and cost effective. To me if a gov cannot be efficient and cost effective, that gov should have been voted out for a better one!

How much is a train driver paid on average in the U.K.? In China? What is their holiday entitlement in each country? What are their pension rights? the UK’s railway networks weren’t built almost overnight, like much of China’s modern infrastructure. My London neighbourhood was mostly built in the 1870s when local railway stations opened all over the country. You are not comparing like with like! ,

@@rogerstarkey5390 If train fares weren’t low and the railways subsidised, who would be able to afford to travel? He is speaking from the privileged position of a high wage earner in a first tier city. France, which also has a fantastic network of high- speed heavily subsidised railways, would be a better comparison than the UK.

We need thinkers to lead our countries, not talkers, and the biggest joke has been the US politics in recent years. The objective of any government should be, firstly, to improve the economy and standards of living in the country, so that people's lives and livelihoods are taken care of. I am glad to see more and more African nations having good thinkers as their leaders, and more and more leaders speaking out against the west's hegemony. China is doing it right. Singapore is doing it right. Vietnam and Malaysia are starting to get it right. Let's hope the west gets it right too, so that the World is a better place to be in.

This is just my personal perspective. I studied in the UK since September 2023, and was away from Hong Kong until July 2024. When I returned back to my homeland, just by comparing London Heathrow Airport and Hong Kong International Airport, there is a major difference in them. HK international airport is a lot more cleaner than London Heathrow. Not gonna lie, the infrastructure of Hong Kong International Airport is way more well designed than London Heathrow. I have been to London Heathrow more 5 times, and there were trash everywhere and no one is cleaning them, while HK international airport is more clean, and almost spotless. As for streets comparison, in the UK, I often see homeless people wherever I go. During my time in Plymouth, I saw at least 5 homeless people everyday, even when I go to Co-op or Tesco. As for HK, even though there are homeless people, it's less than UK's. I only witnessed like 1 homeless people per month. As for public security, in the UK, I often heard people that there were accidents happening there and there, and worst, I even witnessed a kidnap and a murder outside my boarding school, and the police doesn't give a shit about it. As for HK, I never witnessed anything like that. In conclusion, UK needs improvements, they are lacking behind in every way when comparing to Hong Kong.

There is no end to my astonishment over what China has become. My country shares a border with China but up until I started watching vlogs about the country I thought of China as we heard of how it was 40 years ago. China is building a part of the BRI through my country and I am helping set up a web channel for it but I had no idea that China had become this modern and technologically advanced. Vlogs like this have opened my eyes. Intelligent and compassionate westerners who have made China their home are bringing it forth to the rest of world. I don't know if they are doing it on their own or if they are being paid to do it. Whatever the case may be, what they are presenting to the world is very very real. and is right in front of of our eyes. And our eyes have suddenly widened over what they are showing us. Harvey, I thank you for opening my eyes to my wonderful neighbor and helping me look at it in aa whole new light.

China practices socialism caring for the masses and not the elites . The rich can afford luxury on their own expense. China high speed rail is like their superb multi-lane highways around the country and operating at a loss. The State owned companies have many projects running at a loss also. But because of these infrastructures, China has progressed at a fast rate that shocked the world.

Hey, no hate here because I love your videos and your cinematography, but, people often compare the prices in China with the ones of the West, without mentioning the difference in salary between the two countries. I live in London, and love China, been there twice, and it is cheap for me with a good London salary to travel there, but how much does a £4 journey compare to the average Chinese salary? I guess the cost in proportion with a normal in China is still better than in the UK’s, but it would be nice to see a video of you touching on this topic! All the best 💪🏻
