I know exactly what you mean. About 10 years ago my wife and I returned from a holiday in Florida and had to go into Leicester for some reason. We had been in the city centre, dodging the chewing gum splatter and litter on the pavements, for 45 minutes before we heard someone speaking english. They turned out to be Canadians.

Same problem in my densely asian populated town, with take away burgers and chips strewn everywhere along with a growing rat problem, the rats nest in car engine bays and destroy wiring looms. I don't understand why they throw the rubbish on the pavements or in car parks when there are bins right there. You're right there's no community pride or investment or ownership.

I can answer that. It was very much a Pakistani area in 1974, but I always felt safe. Many a late night at the Paris Sweet Centre on the Alum Rock Rd. I last went there about 12 years ago, and I felt the atmosphere had dramatically changed. I didn't dare get out of my car, even in daylight. I'll never return.

I am not from the UK. I was in Leicester on business in July this year, and I went to a neighborhood where everyone there was either Indian or African .. I thought I was in India or Africa. And one time at night, almost everyone on the main street called ganby or something was either Middleeasterner or Indian.. this wasn't what I expected .. what's happening to England?

How is it the council is allowing so much clutter outside shops. Yes, they can pay a licence fee to put stands outside on the pavement but you have to be able to get two prams by. Obstructing the walkways is a safety hazard particularly for blind, disabled people, elderly and others. Any accidents are the responsibility of the shop owners but the council should be monitoring this Also the illegally parked on pavements should be monitored. Where are the traffic wardens and police?

Is there any part of Birmingham that still looks and feels like England. It’s hard to believe that our Grandparents fought terrible wars for this country only to allow invasion after invasion since. I have nothing against any race or culture but a complete takeover of an area is what causes the most problems. What about the British identity being protected. This looks like the Rock, its an Asian neighbourhood, has been for like 40 or 50 years, probably the strongest close nit community in Birmingham, they clique here & probably more Pakistani than the population of Bradford, they aint all that bad if you don't go looking for trouble they will leave you alone, what's worst about this area is driving through it, an absolute nightmare, Brummies drive round it mainly because of the congestion. I've been to Birmingham & its a metropolis of different nationalities, nearly 200, & there are still more white English than the whole population of Manchester, this don't include the massive Irish & Polish population there, Birmingham is not a bad place, a lot of homeless & beggars there but that ain't Birminghams fault, it's the governments for destroying this country which is gradually becoming a 3rd world country.

This is Alum Rock Birmingham , my mom ran a boozer here in the middle of the rock road, just off the main road , had it for about 5 years, only finished running it about 10 years ago. Pub is not there anymore,mostly got good memories. We was all, drinkers and owners , white English/ Irish.

Alperton in london has been like this since the late 80s almost 98% hindu/indian. For the most part from my personal memory they were always very pleasent people to be around, lovely food and very kind natured most of them, as a young half white half black child i remember after school this indian lady would watch me and my sister after school for a few hours each day while my mum was still at work and her and her daughter always made us wonderful curries, indian sweets and chapaties for us to take home, its one of the reasons why now as a 32 year old man i absolutely love curry!! I guess the point i am trying to make is that not all of these people are bad there are bad apples in every group, i believe the majority of them are just here for a better life!

No parking tickets for these people just like Bradford they park anywhere there’s a General Hospital with A&E but they don’t care ambulances struggling, buses struggling but these people don’t give a toss about anything what happened to stopping parking on pavements , double parked even triple parked spit on the ground but no one cares the police don’t do anything, the traffic wardens come round but even if these people get a ticket they don’t give a damm. If you to different part you get a parking ticket you have to pay but on this rd near the hospital they couldn’t care less so where is the caring and respect for HUMANITY in this community. Alum Rock is a purely Pakistani and Muslim neighborhood. Other South Asians do not live here. The Indian community lives mainly in Solihull, Sutton and Edgbaston and Handsworth Wood .
