What's up guys, welcome back to another GigaGeek video. Recently, I've seen a huge gap in the amount of info online about hardware for rendering. In this video, I explain the updated parts in this CAD & Rendering PC build. This is a BEAST of a computer with its updated performance and aesthetics. Enjoy

ok people, listen up ... i've been running solidworks on an i7 3770 CPU, a GTX 750Ti GPU, and 16GB of RAM for the last 7 years... the only time i felt it was slow is when i did parts with thousands of holes (like a sheet steel mesh for sorting grain), and even then, my other much more powerful PC with up to date i9 cpu and a QUADRO gpu still took long to cut, so yeah, a $4,000 desktop will give you the same performance as a $400 desktop in 99.99% of cases, and i do CAD full time in a steel factory for the last 8 years.

Would this build handle rendering in Solidworks Visualise? And does it handle gaming as well, or are different parts needed for a dual gaming and 3d modelling/rendering pc?
@bli3366
@bli3366 2 месяца назад
yes, gaming GFX cards and CAD GFX cards are totally different, as they are focused on entirely different computations. That said, I've heard that some of the absolute top gaming cards are now capable of being used for some mid-tier CAD software functions, but I have not personally confirmed it, so it's just a rumor as far as I know.

Would this build do well for music production? It seems to be a grey area where only music producers break down their builds but I never see actual computer guys break it down. Would be very helpful if you did

For audio production, you really just want as fast a CPU as possible, and preferably as many cores as you can afford, since most of the pro DAWS can use hyperthreading now. But the problem still remains that most channels are still ran by a single core, which is why individual core speed matters. Of course, a lot of this depends on the software that you're using, and you should consult their technical manual to see what the software devs recommend. More RAM will always be better, and if you're doing real recording, then your I/O cards will also have their own overhead requirements. It's also worth checking your DSPs and VSTs to see if they have any requirements, as some of the 'heavier' ones do. But honestly, for doing audio production, you don't really need much of a GFX card, just enough of one to give you the screensize and number of monitors that you desire/require.

Hey I have a question! what's the benefit to using a CPU with integrated graphics if you are also using a graphics card? I'm planning on my own first pc build for CAD and 3D modeling/rendering. I plan on using Blender and Maya, and possibly also AutoCAD and Revit. Maybe a couple of games, but I'm not a huge gamer, I really just want this to be an awesome workstation for my freelance work that won't hold me back.

Some like to have a CPU with Igpu just in case the GPU fails theres at least a back up gpu to display troubleshooting while gpu gets replaced. Im on the side of no Igpu because id rather my cpu just be cpu and not use up power or space for Igpu when im putting in huge gpu's into the pc already.
@growseryt1839
@growseryt1839 5 месяцев назад
there is no important point when buying a pc, because there is no such thing as hybridwork like on laptops, where you often only use the integrated one to save power, but as the guy before said, if some of your graphics components fail, you have a backup, which could be helpful someday, and in case of intel i would mostly think about it if its just 10 to 20 bucks or something, if it would cost you more I guess you are better up without an integrated graphics. And adding to that if you run massivly extensive workloads and work on high industrial standards you might think about getting one, because it should give you the graphic performance needed to run your monitor, so your graphicscard could render without the load packed on by suppling your monitor with images. But in that case i would recommend getting a second, pretty cheap, gpu for that task. Wouldn‘t be needed anyways if you aren‘t running ultra heavy workloads

Yes. To find one like this, email me at gigageektech@gmail.com
@key2010
@key2010 3 дня назад
@@tweakedwerks in short, yes* .... the longer answer is: yes, BUT, it depends on the software you're using, if you're working with solidworks, it will NOT like millions or even thousands of data points, you'll need to simplify it A LOT after inserting it into solidworks, other applications might handle the data differently, but from my experience, solidworks is a dinosaur when it comes to optimizing data management, it's literally a retarded application, they'll try gimmicks like web interface so you can access your work from a laptop or tablet, but the actual work computer (the PC crunching the numbers and processing data) is going to SUFFER because Solidworks does more Lawyering and suing pirated copies now than actual good work on the software.
