we stole the trophy from runic maze 😭 Tbh I can see why this map was voted as the best. It was one of the earliest highlights and probably was the highlight of the anniversary, as many people were shocked to see this map better.

2:28 here, let me give you one: "Maltaris Valley is deceivingly underrated for what it is. The original version wasn't actually a bad map. In fact, I'm gonna make the take and say it out-performs Mystic Fortress. Albeit, just barely. While the Poisonous Valley Remix wasn't the best fitting choice for a map like this, I gotta say, the music goes hard; I even used it in one of my maps, Poisonous Gorge. The original version definitely had some flaws. The visuals weren't actually much of a problem, but the gameplay did have some flaws to it. While I myself had no issues with it, I do distinctly remember being the only person to beat the map when it was playable in Chill Servers. Typically, you'll never only see 1 person beat the Normal highlight in a server of 16. It even took more than one try to solo it in FE2CM, though I am pretty bad at this game, so it's probably me that's the issue. However, the remake takes what the original got right, added to it, and fixed some issues it formerly posed. The gameplay no longer feels a bit dried out at times, the visuals are enhanced even better, and it gives the map a bit more of an identity. I still think the remake only beats out Mystic Fortress for November's highlights, but it's by a wider margin. The OST composed is amazing. Up there for one of the BEST soundtracks I have ever listened to in this game. It has this hard to explain groove to it that is just so pleasant. Overall, pretty good map. What a masterpiece of a video - the entire the-community-votes concept, editing, transitions, build-up and the sheer effort and dedication needed to do this - it's phenomenal. It's very compelling to see such an incredibly talented young creator pour this much passion into a ranking video, you've truly proven yourself to be an absolutely crucial and remarkable part of FE2's content, and as somebody that adores rankings, this was truly a gem. Highlights were definitely THE best addition that Flood Escape could have ever gotten - and this felt like such a perfect tribute to their impact on the game. And I'm absolutely enthused over the fact that my favorite map of all time ended up at #4! I knew it was pretty well-liked all around by the community, but THIS much love for Steampunk Clockworks, above some of the greats like Amphibious Billow and Snowy Stronghold - it made my day! (thanks for including my yapping at 1:04:53 lol) I actually didn't expect #1 at all! Really thought Chaoz Japan, Amphibious Billow, Twilight Athenaeum or Runic Maze would have taken it. Virulent deserves the praise though - this map really went through a lot, looking back at its V1 variant, congrats to Finn and Axmatt! Might post my own ranking of all the highlights here later if I remember to do so, I'm too tired for all that at the moment :P

I can't hate the fact that most of these highlights have great OSTs, props to the composers for making it! 🎉

What a coincidence, I was looking up "every highlight in fe2 that ever existed," and this came up after about 5 results of uninteresting videos.

I’ll be honest to you, Spider Dungeon being that low can show how underrated that map is.

Amphibious Billow, Steampunk Clockworks, Skywork Falls, Runic Maze, and Virulent Junkyard... completely deserved top 5, its exactly what I would have chosen. Virulent Junkyard is definitely my favourite highlight of all time.

This video is just high quality spanning for 1 hour. Especially cool by asking the community their favourites, not your opinion only. Enjoyed every second, you successfully earned a sub from me.

What month did the highlights start? I started playing the game again late march, early April I think (after not having played for like 2-3 years) If it started before then, I understand why I dont remember ever playing some of these maps. I think Mars Station was the first crazy map I beat after having never played them before cuz I had quit long before that difficulty was even thought of for the main game.

Highlights started appearing in the game in February 2023, but highlights actually started on the FE2 Twitter account in 2022 on January with the first ever highlight being Satomi Springs, might say those don’t count, but it’s ok to have your opinion.

abandoned junkyard worst highlight by far and no im not just saying that because its hard because desert ruins is my fav highlight and its probably harder. The map just looked so terrible and the lava texture was god awful plus it wasnt even fun to play even if the map looked good i would still hate it because the gameplay is just not fun not to mention that ost was so annoying to listen to
