Another great show Mr & Mrs W. In lock down I built raised beds in my garden because it’s heavy with clay. I have 6 beds and harvest vegetables all year round now. I rarely buy veg now as I enjoy seasonal freshly picked crops. I’m still harvesting runner beans 🫘 my early potatoes harvested in July will last till February. My chillies were in pots in the greenhouse and very small but plentiful especially the red variety. Today I have winterised the stems cutting off all the shoots and leaves and transferred them into the house. Iv watched tips on utube and next spring I will hopefully have great plants similar to yours in your polly tunnel tonight. I have planted winter spinach and carrots which seem to grow well. Garlic and Onion sets need planting in the next week or so to go with my winter sprouts, cabbage and red cabbage. Leeks are in a tray growing reasonably well but day light is getting short now. We are expecting a frost tonight so a lot of my crops are covered under fleece or pvc lids. Look forward to your next video. All my best Stephen.

I use old old tiles to keep pumpkins and squash off the soil and send the slugs away. My salad leaves are coming in the poly and I harvested some nastersiums which are peppery The plants in the porch are beginning to wilt so they will be cooked next week.I sowed a few Asian greens and mulched around the bean frame. Tomorrow it’s potato harvest at my daughters I like Sarpo but the allotment club here didn’t have them last year they do now! Hope you enjoy yours Pete Sheffield

It just shows that when you know what you are doing it’s possible. Hopefully in a few years I will be closer to it. Saying that, yesterday we took a harvest, and cleared plants…. 7nice cucumbers, a baby boo pumpkin,and the 3 little watermelons. plus the last of the tomatoes. Still have the yellow scolloped squash that has some fruit still growing… hoping to keep that growing if we can for now, added some protection to help keep it a bit warmer. Still have radishes growing and potatoes to harvest. Apparently my dad said to mum how much better the potatoes tasted that I grew… I said .. dohhh!!! That’s why I do it. As it tastes so much better and over all is cheaper. Obviously they save the money but hay it all adds up in the end. I said I guess I’ll be growing more potatoes next year then. Lol I am trying to get my self called as working in the garden for them lol . Have a good weekend mr&mrs W

@@nodignorfolkgardener4575 he is funny tho as he has kept on that it’s not worth growing it when you can get it at the hop, then peals 1/2 it off with a knife!!! But mums been preparing the food and just removing the outside skin and leaving the potatoes ready to eat and wow they worth doing now. Lol It’s his thing of leaking everything and with a knife meaning you loose a good amount of food on each item . Also if it don’t look like it does from a shop then he says ohh I’m not sure I don’t want to be unwell and so they throw it away. Lol but will get there. I will be trying to grow more that has worked this year and previous years and trying different varieties to get better harvests I am also going to try growing more potatoes, some in buckets and some in a big container pot…. See how that goes. Can only try thugs and hope they work. We don’t control it is what I’m learning. We can do our bests but we don’t control the weather or growth of plants. So can help them along where we can and try to make conditions better for them but we can’t say I want 10 squash of the plant and 30lbs of beans etc. as it’s not a computer generated system. It’s living soil and a living system. Xx

Great harvest as always, I hope to be that successful one day. I wondered if you had considered (apologies if you already have) do a video on how you started your no dig garden? I don’t have as much space as you to plant, but what I do have is hard clay, I know you’ve mentioned yours is clay too but a video on how you got to where you are, like a step by step would be great!

I did the same thing you did with main crop potatoes and planted them in grow bags. Most are dead now so I have to harvest soon. Hope I get a harvest as good as you. We are expecting frost here next week so things are changing fast now. I'll be harvesting a lot of peppers over the weekend so a lot of frying and fermenting in my future. I have one hubbard winter squash that I picked way back in July after the plants died off prematurely. It's the only one that that looked good and it's been in my shed all summer. Not sure if it's going to taste good but it's nice and hard so maybe. Never prepared them before so not sure what to do with it. Do you eat the skin?

@nodignorfolkgardener4575 2 дня назад
Fingers crossed for your potato harvest Frank! We are expecting a frost this coming Friday into Saturday which is early for us. If the squash has hardened up I think it will be fine - do let us know. If you roast the squash you can eat the skins, although I have to say we don't as a rule, we just scrape the flesh away from the skin. They also make a great soup - dare I say better than pumpkin soup!
