The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Landscape Difficulty in Lord of the Rings Online 

It’s a brilliant idea to make it an optional system for players. It really does allow people to tailor their game experience to what they want. I tried it a few times on Treebeard at various levels and some were definitely challenging.

I like this, one of thw reason i went away is because mobs got too easy and boring to kill....I will make a new character and make a hardcore run...with the maximun difficulty

Just started two new characters on Fearless difficulty. A yellow hunter and a red warden. In my opinion it makes the game much more engaging. Now I actually have to try and use a proper rotation from the very start of the game, instead of just using two or three random skills and suddenly the enemy is dead. Consumables are important too, and I have to be wary of debuffs, of how many enemies I pull, etc etc. In other words, I have to actually *play the game. From the very start*. Which is a good fix to a problem that I have with many MMOs: the game only really starts at high levels. Until then youll just be pushing buttons for 60 levels or so. That being said, slayer deeds are a bit of a pain to complete haha.

I severely underestimated the effect of this - I changed my difficulty to 3, went outside and immediately got demolished by a diseased boar that was 2 levels higher than me. 😆 I like it though, definitely ramps up the difficulty, I'll be keeping it on for the foreseeable.

Frankly i'm a bit tired of this misconception about people who don't enjoy how easy MMOs are : we don't want MMOs to be "challenging" or "hard" we simply don't want them to not be ridiculously easy. We simply want to feel involved while playing, nobody wants MMOs to be Dark Soul. Plus when the story/worlds keep telling you that these enemies are dangerous and you simply dispatch them in 3 second of auto-click it's simply not immersive and ruins the storytelling and atmosphere in my opinion.

Was planning on maybe coming back to check it out but is it just emotes and basic elixirs you get from changing difficulty? Is there anything worthwhile or all is just purely cosmetics? Seems pretty boring if its just titles and emotes.

I’m disappointed with the lack of rewards. When they brought it live to the other servers I was certain they would have more than just the same titles

How do you turn this system off if you decide you do not want any difficulty increase?

What sucks is I put it on Difficulty 1 Adventurous and now I want to raise the difficulty again to fearless +3 but it looks like canceling the lower difficulty to raise it will PERMANENTLY disable the title deeds. Be careful with this new system it feels like it should be redone. I would have had to read the update notes beforehand to have any idea of what I should of been doing.

i litterally started playing lotro 5 days ago so obviously im a total noob, but im playing on Fearless 3 as a hunter and it seems good. i take a ton of damage from things my level, but the dmg a hunter can do can easily keep up with that, mostly doing it just because why not. i have some fomo lol some people say the cosmetics/titles arent a big deal, so im not sure if u should keep it on as a noob but it seems fine. the only thing thats scary are the "strong" monster type my own level
