If someone had asked me for my tips, I would have given the same ones as you. Thank you for the excellent video! For small concerts in small clubs, I always ask the label AND the artist beforehand. It's a form of respect, after all, we all want to give a good performance that evening. This usually leads to the way backstage or ON stage to be photographed. The issue of payment is actually a "give and take" - but always be clear with the artists. 3, 4 photos for Instagram for free. Bands often ask, can you photograph our new release concert, then work with a fixed price. The punk band with their first EP pays a little, the big artist pays more - so it stays in balance for me. The valuable thing you bring with your work is your name. Another tip: there are always foundations and funding programs from state or private programs - keep an eye on them. And speak specifically to bands in your address book: hey, do we want to apply for funding and use it to pay for the artwork and a video?

Hey, for applying to a publication do i need to provide a portfolio with concert photos or just my best work overall, im just confused about this since i dont have any concert photos to show since you arent aloud to bring a camera

Depends on the publication. I would say ask them when you apply. I didn't have a concert portfolio when I applied to join the one I'm with, but I had an events portfolio already from shooting weddings, proposals etc.

Hi! What gear do you use for concerts? And do you use your sony 70-350 indoors, and wich camera do you paired with?

I use Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GMII for concerts and I mainly use the 70-350 for outdoors since it’s aperture is limited. It’s an apsc lens so I pair with my a6400.
